Hello there, my good friend Christina here with nursingschoolofsuccess.com and congratulations on making it to Christmas vacation. So in this video today, I'm gonna walk you through 10 things that you can do over Christmas vacation and the holiday and winter break to relax, rest, relax, rejuvenate, and just have a grand old time before the next term starts in nursing school. So you earned it. Let's have some fun. So the first one is to go and look at Christmas lights. Of course, because it's winter break in nursing school, it's Christmas time and there are Christmas lights everywhere. So go walk around with your friends, family and take a look at the lights throughout your neighborhood or just around your town if there's a really great neighborhood around that has a lot of Christmas lights all kind of in one area. That's really cool to go see all of them sometimes. I know around here kind of houses team up and do like one major Christmas light display. So if you have any like that in your area, definitely check it out. Be a lot of fun. So Christmas lights is number one. Now the second one is to read something non nursing related. So you are buried in textbooks during nursing school. You do not want to pick up a textbook on your winter break. So that is not on the list of things to do during winter break. So read something that is non nursing related. If you have a fiction book that you want to read or catch up on that you've been wanting to read for forever, you know, read whatever you want, girlfriend. Don't pick up a nursing textbook. You need a break. Number two is to read something non nursing related. Now number three is to go shopping. Of course there's so much to shop for during winter break for Christmas. So you've got gifts for other people, all the food, Christmas decorations, Christmas tree, of course, all of those things that you've got to get and shop for. So go shopping, find some great deals all around at all the different stores and have a lot of fun. I love shopping. I think it's a blast. So it's especially at Christmas time. I like the hustle and bustle all around. I am a huge Black Friday shopper. I love it. Not even necessarily to buy things, but just to feel the energy. I think it's just a lot of fun because there's so many people out and there's so many people to get to know and chat with. It's just a lot of fun to be a part of that whole experience. So I hope you can do that. Now the next one is to go to the zoo. If you have a zoo in your area, definitely head on over there. You've got the time now you have a whole winter break ahead of you. So definitely go look at all the cute little animals at the zoo. Bring your kids, if you have kids, bring your family. Make it a whole day if you can, because the zoo's a lot of fun. There's so much to see there. I really, really like that idea. Really, really love the zoo. Now the next one is to wrap gifts. Of course, after you've gone shopping, then you gotta wrap them for everybody. So wrap gifts. The Dollar store is actually my favorite place to get wrapping paper. It's pretty and it's not that much money to purchase, obviously it's a dollar and they have like a ton of them there, so go there. I know you're kind of crunched on your budget, so buy wrapping paper and have a blast wrapping them. What Matthew and I do is we actually watch Hallmark movies while we wrap our gifts. We love Hallmark Christmas movies. Love Hallmark Christmas movies. So, you know, make a whole night out of it if you, you can. The next one is to decorate, of course, if you've, like I said before, you've got people over, family coming over, coming over for Christmas. Decorate your house. Make sure you've got your Christmas tree up and your lights up and any little things that you want to put up around your house to make it feel Christmassy and warm and cozy. Now the next one is to spend quality time with your friends, family. We're going to be doing this all throughout the holiday season. Make sure that when you are with your family, that you're actually with them. I know during nursing school it can be so hard to shut your brain off, right? You've got care plans to think about, papers to think about, a test coming up. You've got so much going on in your mind that it can be really, really difficult to actually take a step back during school and actually be present with your family. So now that you're on winter break and it's Christmas time, make sure that when you're with your family, with your kids, that you're not thinking about nursing school. Girlfriend, you're on break. Do not think about nursing school. That can wait until after Christmas and when you start prepping for the next term. But right now, make sure that you're spending quality, quality time with your family. And that means not being on your phone, not thinking about nursing school, not trying to work on research papers or whatever that you have coming up Next term you can wait for all of that. Just take a step back, spend quality time with your family because you earned it and they need it for sure. I bet they have missed you a ton since you've been in nursing school. So this is really your chance to reconnect and spend that good quality time with them. Now the next one is to bake cookies. Of course. I love baking cookies. Actually, if you've been around for a while, you probably know this about me when I get started. Stressed, I bake. So I basically perfected the chocolate chip cookie and the sugar cookie during nursing school because I was stressed all the time and baking all the time. So I love baking for Christmas. If you find a really great recipe online, I love sugar cookies for sure. I think those very Christmassy, especially when you can dress them up in frosting and sprinkles and. Well, actually don't usually do sprinkles. But now that I have a toddler, he might have fun with those sprinkles pouring that out. So we'll see how that works. Yeah, I think we're gonna try that. So try to bake cookies or bake something. Like if you have your family coming over for different events, definitely try to bake something for them. I think it's very, very therapeutic to spend time in the kitchen and bake. So enjoy that. Now the next one is to sleep in. Now you might notice that we don't have any footage of me sleeping in over the holiday season because, well, let's be honest, I have a toddler and so that doesn't happen. Pretty sure we wake up at like 5 to 5:30 every single day. He's on his own timeline. You know, time changes, the whole fall back deal. Nope. Up at 4:00am you know, there's no sleeping in for this family when you've got a one and a half year old. So I hope you get to sleep in at 6 some point during your winter break and your holiday vacation because you earned it. You worked so hard through nursing school already. Now you've got a vacation, you've got a break. So take that time. Take that extra hour or two to sleep in in the morning. Catch up on sleep. Cause pretty much you're sleep deprived all through nursing school. So you've got to catch up sometime. So try to take those couple of hours and sleep in. Now the last one that I've got for you is one one of my personal favorites. And it has nothing to do necessarily with Christmas, but it has everything to do with fun things to do. So that's going to the dog park or going to the park with your kids or just going by yourself and swinging on some swings. Come on. So I love the dog park. I have a dog. Her name is Celia. One of my favorite things to do even now and was my favorite thing to do during nursing school, I just find it so, so therapeutic and calming is to go to the dog park. So I love going to the dog park with her. We have one of those, what you call it, like fetch things, the chuckets, I think is what they call with tennis balls. So we, you know, throw it and it goes really, really far. So she loves it because she gets to run super, super far and super, super fast. So we really like the dog park, especially when it's. I actually like when it's cold outside. It's nice in the mornings. The there's not very many people there and it's freezing and I kind of love it. It's very quiet and very peaceful. So I hope you enjoy that as much as I do. So There are your 10 things to have fun with over your winter vacation. Things to do over winter break. I hope you enjoyed this list. Of course, we're always here for you when you start back in nursing school. I know you're on this break now. I hope you enjoy it with taking a step back from school and the stress. Spend time with your family like we said. Really just enjoy this break because, girlfriend, you've got a lot going on over the next year in nursing school and we will be there for you every step of the way. So I hope you enjoyed these ones. Let me know in the comments which one you liked best and which one you are super, super excited to try first. And I can't wait to chat with you in the comments. Take care. I hope you have a wonderful, wonderful Christmas vacation and winter break and we will chat soon. Take care. Bye. Sam.
