Tips for starting off a new term at nursing school

Christina Rafano and Matthew share strategies for nursing school success: manage your brain's resistance to studying, not just your time; set hard constraints on distractions like social media; talk to instructors early and often; and pick one or two quality study resources instead of trying to use everything.

Go live. Hello. Hello.
Welcome, everyone. I guess I can say welcome to myself as well.
Matthew's back.
Hi, everyone.
Aren't you guys so excited? I am, seriously. It's kind of hard holding down the fort without you. Like, all of our lives, right? I'm. We're always together. Yeah, we're always together for a few of them.
But I am back, so. Hello, everyone. Welcome to the nursing school show.
Hello.
I am Matthew.
I'm Christina.
We are talking nursing school things.
That's funny, because when you're not here, I don't introduce myself. I just assume that everybody knows who I am. Yeah, if you don't, then that's probably a pretty good assumption anyway, so.
That is a good assumption.
I don't know.
Yes.
Hello, everyone.
Welcome to everyone. Hi. Huh. All right, let's get going.
Where are you at in the world? That's Marcus's favorite question to ask.
Yes. YouTube. Where is everyone at? Instagram. Where is everyone at? Let us see. Let us see who wins the furthest away award.
Yes.
Let's get to it. Yeah. Furthest. Or. Yeah, I guess we could do the closest, but that'd be kind of weird. So let's go with the furthest away award. So let's see where everyone's from. We are talking about tips for a new term.
Yes. Nursing school for a new term.
So I hear that it's January now and it's a new year, and along with the new year comes a new term at nursing school.
Yeah.
So let us know if this is a new term for you guys and what term you're in as well. Let's do that.
Mississippi.
Okay. Chicago.
Zimbabwe.
Florida. Two from Florida.
Idaho.
Hi, everyone. Hello.
Pennsylvania. Florida. Brooklyn. Long Island. Austin.
Very cool.
India.
Del Mar.
Term one. Brazil.
Term one. I'm sure there are some term ones. You are not alone.
Lots of you guys in New York. Hello. New York out there.
Very good.
California. Every time I California, I do the Miss Congeniality. California.
How old is that movie?
That Philippines?
Has to be quite old. My piece. There's always some. There's always some from the Philippines. Hello.
Does that say Ohio? Ohio. Philippines to Philippines.
Yeah.
Love it.
There we go. Nepal.
Hello.
That's cool.
Virginia. Kansas. Hey. Okay, this is off topic.
Yes.
But I had a friend yesterday say that when she lived in Kansas, she had tarantulas in her house. Can someone please tell me if that's true?
As in, like, pet tarantulas or just like, wild? No, because I don't think I've really heard of wild.
Tarantulas in.
That is interesting.
Is that a thing in Kansas? If so, I'm never going to Kansas.
Oh, no offense, Alan. That's new to me. From Kansas. All right, well, that is good. Do you have a tarantula as a pet maybe instead of the wild?
No, she was literally saying. Yeah, she was telling a story that her husband was at work and she was putting the baby down for a nap in the crib and there was literally a tarantula in the baby's room and she called her husband and to come home and get it and she said that her and the baby just were on top at a changing table, staring at it until I got home.
Little did they know that it was actually the husband and it was like a stuffed tarantula that he just put in there.
Oh, that would be so mean. No, this was like a legit tarantula. I don't know. Not cool. Not cool if that's what happens in Kansas, but Alan, I believe you. No tarantulas.
No tarantulas.
Washington, D.C. new Jersey. Hello.
All right, let's jump into it. Yeah, you guys told us where you're at. Where are you at? As far as nursing school is going, we got a first term. Any second term, third termers, lifers. Any lifers in there, let us know, doesn't it? And also since we're talking about tips, tips, tricks on starting off new term, let us know if you have any tips.
Yes. What are your best news for nursing school?
What are your.
Share them with Alan.
Third term. Third term. Third term.
Denise, first Ebony.
Second. Second term. So old pros at this already.
Fourth and last semester. Derek, good job. Final semester on the 21st. Good job. Terry. Alpha Breeze. Last year of bachelor's. Awesome. Last term of lpn, Jacksonville, Florida. Very nice.
Okay, all right.
I have tips. I do want to start with this though because before we go live here every Monday, we actually do our live call inside our nursing associates membership community. And we just had that tonight right before this. And something that we were talking about that is so impactful for our students is that when you sit down to do anything, basically anything. When you sit down to study, when you sit down to write care plans, when you sit down to, you know, do anything, the first thing your brain is going to do is freak out and tell you all the reasons you can't do. You guys find this to be true of yourselves too? Just me. So here's why this is so, so important. We need to plan for that happening when you are in nursing School. And when you are trying to do a bunch of things, studying and managing care plans and clinicals and skills lab, and you're going to lecture class and you, you know, have your family to take care of when you sit down to study. Like, you have to be focused on studying, right? Because you've got other things that you need to focus on. But if you sit down to study, the first thing, the first thing your brain is going to tell you is all of the reasons why you shouldn't be doing that. It's going to tell you about all of the things that you should be doing instead of studying, right? It's going to tell you that the laundry needs to be done. It's going to tell you that the dishes have to be taken care of. It's going to tell you that your children need something. It's going to tell you you forgot to go grocery shopping. Oh, no. And have nothing else, nothing for dinner. And everyone's going to starve, right? Your brain is going to freak out and you have to calm that down because if you don't, then you will not be able to focus on doing the thing that you are doing, right? And then you're going to be inefficient. You're going to be unproductive. We have to make sure that we manage our time well, which really means managing our brains well, because it's so much brain drama. It's going to bring all the drama, right? And when you sit down to study, you want to make sure that the time you give yourself to study, that that is the time you use to study so that you can have more free time on the back end later, right? You don't want to be wasting time getting caught up in all the brain drama, you know? So what we were talking about on the call right before this, inside our membership community, is that it's very important for you to just plan for that. That is a normal thing, okay? And that just knowing that is very, very helpful. Because when you sit down to study, like I said, your brain is going to tell you all the things, all of the reasons why you should not be studying because you have all these other things to do or you can never learn it all in time. It's impossible. Nursing school is too hard. You should obviously quit and never be a nurse ever. You know, that's what your brain's gonna say, right? Your brain's gonna tell you all these things. Plan for that, okay? Just plan for it and notice it and do not let it derail you because that's often what happens, right. When we sit down to study. Oh, our brains tell us, wait, you have all these things to do? And then what do we do? We kind of. We. We kind of slide into that, right? We check our phone, we scroll through Instagram.
Planning is so hard for me. I'm always all over the place. Yes, yes, you are not the only one. I'm pretty sure that is the general rule of things.
Yes, yes, it's like that. That's exactly how it works, is you're all over the place. When you have, like, intentionally plan something to do, it is very difficult to actually do that thing when you say you're gonna do it. But that is the key, my friends, that is the absolute key to make sure that you are studying effectively and efficiently in nursing school.
What is it? The one of the things that I think I've heard. I'm pretty sure you've heard it too. It's. It's not time management, it's me management.
Oh, I. I don't know if I've heard that, but that's a really good one.
Yeah, it's not, it's not really about managing your time.
You can't manage time. Time is its own thing.
So, yes, time is time. But yeah, it's really me management. How do I manage me? Or like you said, though, the brain drama, how do I manage my thoughts, how do I manage all the drama, Manage all of that so that when you sit down, you are focused.
Yes, because that's really the problem, right? When we get into nursing school, you've got, well, a thousand million gazillion things to do every day, every second, like it's never ending, right? So that's not going to go away. You're going to have a thousand million billion things to do whether you are focused or not. But the best thing that you can do is to focus and get those things done. Rather than procrastinate, put it off and procrastinate and put it off, right? Because then you just end up having more to do because you're never getting anything done, right? So when you start nursing school, when you start a new term in nursing school, all of you guys who are starting this week, next week, whenever, just remember that when you sit down to study, if you want to pass your classes, you have to focus when you study, you have to be focused. Like, that's just how it goes, right? You got to be able to critically think. You have to be able to apply the information that you're learning. You have to know how to study. But in order to do that, you have to focus and not, you know, get caught up in that brain drama, not scroll through Instagram. So when you sit down, just notice that, notice that your brain is going to do that. Like remind yourself, okay, my brain's going to do that and I'm just going to ignore it. Right? Just let it go. Let it be there.
Someone on Instagram can scroll up. Was saying, choose self discipline over what you're feeling or what you like doing.
Yes, right now.
Yes, right there.
So yeah, thank you.
That's exactly right.
You've been around for a while, so.
Yes. And I think, I think this is normal also to be reminded about that. I mean, some people are starting Sarah, on my third or fourth. So this isn't your first new semester, right? So you guys are going through it if it's your first and you have more to look forward to. So definitely, I think it's normal also to be reminded and to kind of get back in the groove just to reiterate some of these tips and tricks and really focus on focusing. So, yeah, really dive into how you can focus when you're working or when you're studying or when you're doing what you're doing. Just focus on that so you're, you're more productive. So I'm curious if you guys have any tips on, on that, on how you stay focused or what do you do to stay focused? I think we'll probably go through some of those. I was just thinking you've had tips and tricks of when you started nursing school or went through nursing school on what to do to increase that focus or to get as many things off of your plate as possible so that you can focus on nursing school, for example, the Crock pots, et cetera, if you want to dive into those things. But yeah, all of you guys, we're all in this together. So what are your tips to focus on?
Kind of what Matthew is saying to kind of piggyback off of that. Like, really what you're saying is another concept, constraint. Really like constraint, the art of constraint. We don't like constraining ourselves, right? Like, we want whatever we want when we want it, right? Like, that's why Amazon exists, right? Amazon Prime. Like, we just want the thing, but the thing is, is like constraint is so important so that you can focus. You know, if your brain is a mess, if your house is a mess, if you've got a thousand things going on, like there's no constraint, and then you're not going to be focused. Right. The more that you tailor your environment. Like Matthew mentioned the crock pot. So like for us, we used crock pots when I was in nursing school, so I didn't really have to cook intensively. You know, crock pots, constrain yourselves. Okay. Because that really will help you free up the space to focus on studying. Nursing school is a season, it's not going to last forever. This is a season of life, but it's an intense season and it's a season that you need to be diligent and focused on nursing school. Right. This is your priority. In other seasons of life, you can have other priorities. But here in nursing school, like, this is your priorities passing, becoming the best nurse that you can possibly be. Right. And so constraint really plays a big part of that.
See someone else? I don't know. Keep scrolling. But number one thing first. Main thing is staying away from social media.
Talk about a time suck.
Yeah, time sucks. And not only social media, but. Yeah, what are other. Other time sucks? You know what, that we live in such a unique world now. And I was thinking, how was nursing school? Like 20 years, like pre social media?
I didn't. Yeah, well, when I was in nursing school, even I didn't have Instagram. I didn't have TikTok or any of that.
What was nursing school? Right? Or like.
Yeah.
I'm sure there's other things. Other time sucks is what I'm, I'm getting at. So. Yes, definitely. Social media. Is it? Oh, yeah, I guess.
Yeah. We had Facebook.
Facebook is when it used to be social media. Ish.
I guess it used to be cool.
I've had to delete the apps off my phone. That is. That is a great idea.
Yes. Uninstall friends. Uninstall. Yes, that's my case also.
Yes.
Delete my social media until it. Until it's my downtime. Because I noticed I would be scrolling when not even planning to. And that's really the thing. Wow, Alan, you too. That's so fun. Funny. Yes. Getting rid of temptations. That is huge, you guys.
That's a good way of putting it. Getting rid of temptations. Yes.
And knowing yourself, knowing what those are for. You too.
Yeah, it's. It's those like little unconscious things because even if you say, oh, I'm gonna have the self discipline not to look on my phone, I don't need to delete it. It's still there. And there's still that whatever eek. Of discipline you're using for that you could be using on other Things. So just getting rid of it again, Christina mentioned this is a season. This is not a forever thing.
Yeah.
So if you need to do that for the season, then that's perfectly fine. So. Yeah, I like that. I think people have gotten used to that or recognized really the dangers of social media and doing what they can.
So that's.
That's a great, great.
And like you said, Jane, like, you just don't even notice it, right? You don't even notice yourself scrolling until you're 20 minutes into it and you're like, oh, shoot, I was supposed to write a care plan. You know, it's so crazy. It's a huge deal. It's a huge deal. So constraint, you guys. Time management and constraint. These are two very important principles. All right. So I guess those are really the two. Is like brain drama. Make sure you're planning for your brain to freak out, because if you don't get over that, that's really. That is such a time suck. If you don't get over your own brain drama, when you sit down to do something, your brain is gonna freak out. Just plan for it, plan for it. Know that that's normal. And then move on. Like, keep doing what you're doing. Just say like, hey, brain, I see what you're doing there. And I'm gonna study. You know, that's it. Move along. And constraint. So big, massive, massive tips. You're gonna go with Denise? Yeah, yeah.
Amazon always gets me. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Definitely. I think Amazon gets us all. I mean.
Yeah, we got rid of Amazon.
Yes. I mean, that's.
We got rid of Amazon. That's an awesome reality is that we got rid of it. I mean. Yeah, really?
It is so convenient. And it's so easy to convince yourself that it's necessary and that you need to have these things and you need to have them right away. And it's free shipping, so. Come on. But I mean, we got rid of it and it's not like. It's not like we replaced it with, oh, now we have to go out more. We just buy those things.
It's the craziest thing. Yeah. So when. When we stopped Amazon. What. How long has this been now? Over a year. Yeah, yeah, over a year now. We were saying, okay, where are we gonna get all the things?
Yes.
That was a big.
What are we gonna. What are we gonna replace it with? What if we need these things and.
It turns out we just don't need those things? The funniest thing. So Amazon was a big one for us too, Denise. That's so funny. And then I also. YouTube, don't censor me. But the news. I have gotten rid of the news out of my life. Cut out. Totally cut it out. It's like, it does not help you, right? Like, social media, right? It does. There's nothing like it is. There's no upside to scrolling through social media or watching the news these days. Like, no upside. So things to consider, friends.
Definitely things to consider.
So the next thing I wanted to talk about when starting nursing school, unless you had anything else to say about.
Constraint, and I think that's good for now. I'll probably think about something and interrupt you, but that's fine.
That's fine.
Keep going. What's the next tip that's good?
Is communicating with your instructors early. Early and often. So, okay, I want to tell you guys a story. There was a girl that I was working with in December, so she. She was not a member, unfortunately. If she was a member, she would have passed, but she was not a nursing SS member at this time, and she had failed out of. If she. She was, like, kind of teetering on the line last term and ended up failing her final, like, barely. And so she reached out and was wanting to know, like, okay, what to do now? And I told her to talk to her instructor, and she talked to her instructor, and her instructor passed her. So, you guys, here's the takeaway. You have got to show your instructors that you care and that you are there to pass, and you are there to become the most amazing nurse that anyone has ever seen. Right? That is you. That is what you are here to do. Your instructors hold the key. You know, like it or not, you know, you can fail an exam, your instructors can still pass you. Right? They hold that key. So making sure that you are setting yourself up for success when you start a new term in nursing school, reach out to your instructor, whether that be via email, in person. If your classes are in person, if they're online, obviously you could do, like, zoom calls. Just email them, you know, on canvas, you know, blackboard, whatever. We had black. I mean, I don't know. I don't know if blackboard's still around, but that's what it was when we were in school. Canvas, any, like, online, whatever you have, you know, reach out to your instructors. You know, meet them at office hours. Make sure that you are communicating with them early and often. Please show them that you care. Sarah, you say this is so important. I agree.
Go that extra distance so that they know you. Because, I mean, coming from the teacher's perspective. I mean, they have lots of classes, lots of students, and I know that a lot of teachers want to do the best they can to remember everyone, but make it easy for them. Make sure that you're saying hi, that you're. Yeah. Constant contact. Because you don't want the first interaction with them to be, oh, help me.
Right? Yes.
Oh, help me. And they're looking at you and like, are you even in my class or what?
Are you even in my class?
You're the person sleeping in the back.
Yeah. That was Matthew. Yeah. Oh, by the way, everyone, he's not a nurse. I am a nurse.
No, just kidding. I never went.
If anyone was wondering. And we are married. Those are two common questions.
Those are, those are. So, yes, we do go together. Definitely go that extra distance or put in just that little bit of effort. That little bit of effort throughout the semester, throughout the term goes a long way in building rapport and just building a relationship with your teacher. So it becomes easier, like when you, you have even, even just quick questions that they're more apt to, to know that you are, you care.
Yes.
Like Christina said. Or you are working at it and that you're not just trying to get off easy.
Right.
You are working at it and they're more up to help you.
Yes. Plain country Jane, such a great question. If I'm handling the class. Okay, well, what I need to discuss with the instructor, with the teacher, which is kind of like what Matthew just said. Like, any questions you have. Definitely, definitely, you know, reach out to them. Any questions, any questions, like make up questions. Like, just show them that you are trying. Right. Another thing that you could do is write out your care plan and submit it to them early and say, can I get your feedback on this? Or here's what I was going to do for my nursing diagnosis. What do you think? Or like I'm stuck on this. Do you have any thoughts? You know, genuinely make up questions. Like if you don't even have, if you're like, I get all of this, that's fine. Make up a question or just ask them. Hey, here's how I understand this. Am I correct? Like, is this, is this right? Another thing that I always recommend. Jane. So two things actually. When you are just starting the term, like we're talking about when you have, when you, when you meet your instructor, ask them how they recommend you study for their class. So you can ask, you can ask it just like that. Like, hey, how, how do you recommend that I study for your class? Or another Question that I like to use is, is if you were in your class, what would you do to study? You know, what would you do to study for your class? Like what? Basically, I mean, it's the same thing. What, what do you recognize, recommend that I do? The other thing, Jane, is that I keep calling you Jane. Sorry. Because it's easier. I don't actually know if your name is Jane. I'm sorry. But you can tell me or post in the comments. The other thing, when you are finished with an exam, any exam, always meet with your instructor, even if the exam went really well. So you want to meet with your instructor after your exams just to go over it with them. You want to know why you got things right and you want to know why you got things wrong, because that's going to set you up just massively for your finals. You need to know why you are getting questions right and why you are getting questions wrong on your exams. That makes sense.
I like, I like those tips. I really like. Yeah. Reviewing tests, whether good or bad or again, discussing studying strategies with the teacher. And again, it just shows your openness to learn and to really dive in and do the work.
Yes.
And I know that it seems like kind of redundant or why do you need to go through the test if you did? Well, that just seems like a waste of time. But no, again, it's building that rapport and it's also coming at it from a different angle so that the information that was in the test, you can better digest it and commit to memory. And again, this is just a season. There are things that make a difference more than others. And I think that those few tips will make a difference. Better difference for the. That you're doing right now for the long term rather than so many other things or nursing school lies that sometimes you're being told to do this and maybe you're not supposed to. Like, maybe reading. Reading every single thing in the book, which Christina talks about at length.
Definitely don't read everything in the textbook.
So there are things that you can do that are helpful. There are things that you can do that probably you can leave alone. And I think it. These things seem minor, but I think they go a long way.
Yes. I mean, actually, okay, we're getting a lot of questions about like specific types. So maternity, Julia, we have some med surgical fundamentals and pharmacology stuff on Instagram. So this kind of goes back to constraint, you guys, that you want to make sure that you are even constraining your resources. Kind of like what Matthew said we're not recommending that you read everything in the textbook. We have never said, like, that's not a good idea in nursing school. Here's why. If you are spending all of your time reading the textbook just for the sake of reading the textbook, just because you want to know everything about everything, you are not going to give yourself enough time and enough space to be able to critically think and apply that information which you need to do in order to pass your exams. Your nursing exams are not going to test you on how well you memorize a list of things. Your nursing school exams are going to test you on how well you critically think. And so if you are spending all your time just reading everything in the textbook and watching YouTube videos from every, you know, nursing influencer you can find, not helpful. You have to actually go a step beyond that and apply it and critically think about it. So I want to mention here, Yulia, you're talking about maternity. We had some questions about fundamentals and med Surg. You guys have to jump into the nursing SOS membership community. Here's, here's why this is so, so important for you. As you go through nursing school, you are given like 20 textbooks, right? And you are told you have to read everything. It's not helpful, right? It's not helpful for you to just read everything by yourself, figure everything out by yourself. In nursing school, it's very, very difficult to learn the material and to pass your exams that way. So that's why we created the community. We have dozens, I mean hundreds actually, of step by step nursing lectures that walk you through everything you have to know to pass your exams, plus study guides and cheat sheets. We've got our nursing tutor form. You know, we are available for you to ask questions. So this goes back to constraint, constrain your resources, right? You want to make sure you are focusing on the right things. And if you don't know what those right things are, that's okay, because we do, right? We tell you what they are and we walk you through it step by step. You don't have to figure it out yourself. That's the point. We do not. We are not meant in nursing school, right? We are not meant to figure it out ourselves. That's why we go to school. We want to be like, taught these things. But oftentimes, unfortunately, that's not what happens. Oftentimes our instructors, you know, read from a PowerPoint or read from a textbook. Not helpful, right? So we are left to figure it out alone. Not good. So that's why we Created the nursing SOS membership community. We want to walk you through. Through it so you don't have to figure it out by yourself. I don't want you to miss points on your exams. I don't want you to struggle to learn everything because you don't have to. You don't have to struggle to learn everything in nursing school. Let me teach it to you. Yulia, you said. Yeah, I tried the textbook route. Wasn't 100%.
I like the way you put that. Wasn't 100% foolproof.
That's so fun.
I do want to go back. Desmond, here. You. You just asked this question. 1. When. When Christina was starting on. On. On that. But Desmond's asking, do you recommend. Recommend utilizing more than two supplemental applications platforms along with lectures, labs, during didactic. And if that. Yeah, yeah. And if so, does the same apply to clinicals in order to secure competency? And even the way that you wrote that, that just. It sounds like a lot. It sounds like a lot.
Yeah.
And I think though, this is one of the times that more doesn't equal better. More does not necessarily mean better. 100% quantity doesn't necessarily mean quality. I guess. So we recommend you use the supplement that will help you learn the material.
Yes, yes.
And we do that in nursing community. So. No. Do you recommend utilizing more than two supplemental application platforms? No.
Don't over complicate it, Desmond.
That's a good way of it.
Don't make it complicated.
That sounds over complicated.
Yeah.
Which is good for you because it really doesn't need to be that bad. It really doesn't need to be that hard.
Yes. Pick a resource. Take a resource. Like constrain yourself. Right. Constraint is very, very important. Right. Filly. Is that. Filip? I can't see. I'm sorry. My eyes are blurry. Is there a free child? No.
Desmond. So in short, sign up for nursing SOS and keep it simple.
Simple. I just keep it simple. I mean, yeah, really, we're here to walk you through it. So if that's the route you choose to go, I'm all in. Like, seriously, if it's, you know, something else, if it's a textbook or something, go for it. You know, we're here to help you along the way if you get stuck, you know, so, you know, nursing school does not have to be as complicated as we make it. Oftentimes we do want to make it this huge, huge, like complicated, overwhelming thing when it doesn't have to be right. So it really is. We just constraint. It comes back to Constraint. Right. We want to make sure we are managing our time well, we are managing our mind while we are focusing on the things that matter. Because like I said, your nursing school exams, they are not going to test you on how well you memorize a list of things. Never. They're not going to test you on that. They're going to test you on how well you apply it and how well you critically think about it. So you need to make sure that whatever resource you're using is helping you with that. You can't just read a list of signs and symptoms in a textbook and understand it. You can't just memorize that list and be prepared for your exam. That's not how it works. You have to understand why do those signs and symptoms happen? So this is exactly what you do, you guys, this is exactly what we do inside the nursing association membership community. So several of you are asking. Enrollment is not open. It opens on Sunday. So make sure Matthew, just put the link in the YouTube chat. Make sure you sign up for that VIP list. Okay. And I will email you right when the doors open this weekend.
Okay, so we do go by enrollments. We do have closed enrollment. So right now it's closed. So get on the list.
Yep.
Get on the list right now.
It opens on Sunday.
It's fortuitous. It opens on Sunday. So again, on that, you'll be the first ones to know. YouTube. I put the link there.
Instagram.
Instagram.
It's on my. Yep. You guys, here's the thing with the nursing SS membership community. It is literally step by step, how to critically think for everything you need to know. So like I said, when you read a textbook, you cannot just memorize a list of signs and symptoms. Like the textbook obviously is just going to give you a list of signs and symptoms to memorize. Not helpful for you. You have to know why those signs and symptoms happen. Which is exactly what we teach you inside the nursing SOS membership community. We walk you through the patho, we give you, step by step, all the pathophysiology we give you. We connect those signs and symptoms back to the patho so you don't have to, you know, get to a select all that apply question on your exam and freak out because you don't know the right answer. You will know the right answer because we'll teach you once you know the patho, you can critically think through everything else. Signs and symptoms, we connect. You know, we tell you why, we assess for the things that we assess. We tell you why we do the Interventions that we do as nurses. Right. We walk you through the critical thinking behind everything. That is what is going to help.
You to pass Denise open earlier.
I know.
Well, we're getting prepped up and I have work to do. So I am working as fast as I can to get ready for our launch and poor Matthew. As we mentioned, it is January. It is a brand new year, brand new term for everyone. That means brand new fun things happening in the membership community that are planning for. So that takes some, some Runway, some time to get that all together.
So that's why we are cut out for him.
That's why we are in close enrollment so that we could I can focus on. On some of these new things and fancy things that we have in plan in store for 2023.
So if you are interesting SS member, it's going to be a baller year. Like you don't even know. It's going to be amazing. And oh. Something that we really need to mention is that this is the last enrollment at this price. The price will be going up the next time enrollment opens. So you need to make sure that if you want to get in that you get in this Sunday. Okay.
So make sure just get in and join us for the ride because it's gonna be.
There's things happening amazing and it's gonna.
Just.
Blow your mind. I'm so happy I found you guys. I was looking up how to study and one of your study videos helped me so much. Yay. Just started using it this week for the new term. I'm so glad you're here, Yulia. Definitely follow me on Instagram. I love Instagram, you guys. I have really.
It has been Christina's on there.
Fun. I'm on Instagram every second of every day almost. Really? Yep. Count me in. I just hope to get in somewhere this upcoming application process.
So. So just join that VIP list when you go to nursing school. Success.com join and yeah, we'll email you.
So yes. So the current price is 39 per month. So reasonable you guys. And then it's gonna. But it's gonna be going up. Okay. It's gonna be going up the next time enrollment opens. So yes, I just got that question on Instagram. It's $39 per month. It's 30390 per year, which is free. There's a special bonus too if you want the year. So we'll talk about that next week. But you probably will want to do the yearly because we actually send you a nursing school box for free. Which is so fun. I'm so excited. Can you tell? It's going to be amazing. And I'm really, really excited for all of the just fabulous, fabulous updates and announcements that we have coming for you. So definitely follow me on Instagram. Okay. Because Instagram will be the first, probably the first to know about these special, exciting things that we have coming for our nursing SOS members. Okay? So follow me on Instagram, follow my Instagram stories because I will be posting those soon for the next. Well, we have a lot of announcements, actually, so it's really gonna be like several weeks.
So, yeah, definitely follow Christina on Instagram because a lot of it goes there. Obviously, you guys on YouTube, if you haven't subscribed yet, do that right now. Can you do that while watching us? I think you can probably can subscribe, hit the like and keep track of us here on YouTube as well.
So I'm staying for life. I'm so glad. Yes. Nervous about taking the next gen nclex. Don't be nervous because the nursing SOS membership community is going to help you out with it.
We do have a couple lives that we've talked about for previous lives and previous seasons of lives that we did talk about. The ngn. If you want to take a look at that, it is probably the best place to go is YouTube. Go to our YouTube channel on our previous lives and kind of scroll back through there. There's a couple good lives that we talk about. What's changing with NGN and why you should not freak out about it at all.
Yes. It's so funny. Oh, I'm a monthly member. If I switch to yearly, would I get a box? A hundred percent, my friend. Yes. Yeah, totally. Okay. Someone had a question on Instagram that I just thought was so fabulous, but I lost it, so I'm not going to scroll. Oh, it's Basically, it's so much.390 yearly where students always struggle. That's funny. So here's what I want to say about that, you guys. If $39 a month is like a reach for you, I really, really, really need you to consider the cost of nursing school. How much are you paying for nursing school right now? And the thing is, if you don't pass nursing school, you don't get that money back, right? You're like, you're out thousands of dollars. So if we are comparing apples to apples, like $39 a month to, like, thousands of dollars in nursing school, like, come on. I mean, come on. I. I don't know about you, but I Would I would be willing to pay $39 a month for, like, to ensure that I passed nursing school, you know, I mean, it just, it just, you know, you feel me? It's just, it's kind of a weird thing. Like you're spending tens of thousands of dollars going to nursing school, and then we want to figure everything out ourselves and risk it. Like, that doesn't make sense to me. Right. Like, I don't. I don't get it.
Yeah, it's dangerous.
It's like a dangerous thing. Don't risk it.
Yeah. It just comes down to priorities, too. And what do you prioritize? And I think we all prioritize getting you through nursing school and excelling in nursing school and having great time in nursing school as well. And so we provide the material to help you get through it and we provide the community as well. We have our private membership forum community that is really uplifting and it just has support too. So it's not just getting through nursing school. It's thriving throughout through nursing school. So it's really worth that if you think about in those terms. And I know that you've probably heard other examples like, oh, well, you spend $5 for coffee every single day. Is that, Is that worth it or is it worth that money put somewhere else? So we, we were just talking about Amazon and stopping Amazon, and there's places where that is helpful and places that are not so helpful. And I think that the membership community is a great place to join in with everyone else going through the same thing. You're going through and getting through it together.
Yes. Because we are here to help you pass. Our members pass. Yeah. I mean, don't risk it. Come on, you guys. We're here to help you become the nurse that God created you to be.
Let's see, Denise, in addition to the membership, we do have two boxes, like physical boxes to help you guys out. There's a dose calc box in the farm box. One to help with dose calc and one to help with farm. Yep. So you can take a look at that again. If you get the yearly when it opens up, I think you're getting. Going to get the one of the boxes as part of being a yearly member as well. But you can go ahead and take a look at that. And if you need them, then definitely you can. You can get those even though you're not a member. If you are a member, you get an extra discount. So.
Yeah, all of our members get discounts on our boxes. So. Yep. Yeah. And. Oh, man. Yeah. Okay, so we have so many exciting things coming, you guys. Like, I can't even stand it. So please get inside the nursing usage membership community, because seriously, when we start dropping this stuff, everyone's gonna freak out and say, I wish I had joined. And I'm gonna say, yeah, I told you. Because I'm sassy like that. Friends, I'm telling you. So great. A really good question on Instagram. And then I lost Kathy. I wish you'd used it earlier. Hi, from Kenya. Okay, let's see if we pay more. Oh, Kathy. Okay. Yeah, that's Kathy. If we pay more now, we can't get the discount. Correct. Or the nursing box. Can you. Can you clarify what you mean? Do you mean, like, if you pay. If you're a monthly member now if you upgrade to annual, the yearly, you get the nursing box. Or all of our members get discounts on all of our boxes.
Fancy.
But if you are an annual member or if you upgrade. Right. We send a box.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, sure.
So if you do that, I'll do that for you.
That's fine.
I'm saying yes. So, yes, he's in charge, so there you go.
Yeah, that's fine.
Sweet in the pot there.
Just email and say, hey, I'm monthly member.
I want to upgrade. And Matthew said I could have a box.
Yeah, Matthew said I could.
Matthew said I could. Yep.
And I'm a new subscriber. Would like to know if you guys go live certain. Certain times. And I just totally butchered that, but I think that's kind of what you.
Said, times you go live.
Okay.
Every Monday night. Well, okay, we try for money. We try for Monday nights at 6:30 Pacific, 9:30 Eastern. Boom. Up top. I get a high five for that one. Yes. 6:30 Pacific, 9: 30 Eastern. Yes. That's so funny.
Yes, we also post new YouTube videos on Mondays as well.
Yes, we do.
There's a good one that just went up today, actually, so if you not have not watched that one yet.
Yeah, I watched the beginning and I'm like, gee, Christina, can you be sassier? I'm sorry, friends, I. Maybe that was a little over the top.
I watched the beginning, so go ahead and watch it. And the one that edits it. So go ahead and watch it and tell Christina if she's being too sassy.
Yes. Yeah. Or if you like it, you can tell me you like it.
Comment. Comment your thoughts.
Yes. Go watch the YouTube video. Let me know. Is Christina a little too sassy or are you like, are you kind of liking the sassy?
Anna likes the engagement. So I'm saying I'm thinking that she likes it.
And here's the thing, you guys, so if you. Again, Instagram stories. I, I have been getting up at 4:30. I get up at 4:30 now and that's when I record YouTube videos. So it's like this unfiltered, tired Christina recording YouTube video. So the YouTube videos might be pretty entertaining for a while. We'll see. Because It's. Yeah, it's 4:30am Christina, and would love.
To get feedback from members before I join. That's. That's awesome. Yeah, we have a bunch of testimonials.
Let's go to our site or check out my Instagram stories because I post them there too. I know we have several members on Instagram now and YouTube actually. Yeah. Mark, for Joe's, I know you commented earlier, I don't know if you're still on, but you can help her out. Yeah, we love it. Denise, you watched it? What you think? Oh, Kathy says it's great. The membership community. I'm glad. Denise, what do you think about the YouTube video? Loved it. Marfa Jo's, tell her how much you love the nursing membership community because you're the bomb. Yeah, Kathy. There is so much inside our community, it's kind of insane. And Kathy. Yeah, Kathy, where are you at now? You said you have two, two weeks left, right? Or like two Tuesday, two weeks left. So we have so much coming for our nursing us members. Like it's insane. So much. Like completely just. It's amazing. So stay tuned. We have a lot of announcements for you guys.
That's the coffee talking today, Denise. That's the coffee.
Denise says you seem hyped to me. Yes, that's the 4:30am Coffee. Yeah, I got so. You're so funny. Yes, I, I think I should keep recording YouTube videos at 4:30. Yeah, that's fine. Because you know, I don't know, this house is kind of fun.
Yulia, I've got to go.
Thank you for your help. Bye bye.
Take care.
So fun. Kathy, you need next gen. So every single video, like lecture video inside the community, we walk you through the critical thinking points that you have to know for that content. Right. We connect it all back. Right, all back. We connect everything together to each other like patho signs and symptoms, nursing assessment, nursing interventions. We do the critical thinking for you. So make sure that whatever topics you're studying in nursing school, that you're going back to the nursing Essence membership community, that you are watching those videos because we're going to walk you through what you have to know, okay? And all the critical thinking behind it. That is what's going to prepare you for next gen. That is what it is. All right. I hear children calling us. Okay, friends, we will see you next week. Next Monday. Remember, please, the Nursing Access membership community opens on Sunday. Sunday. Every single time we close enrollment, every single time, we get a ton of emails from people from students saying, can I get in? I missed it. How do I join? And that is a bummer because it is closed. Like when it's closed, it's closed. And you know, like Matthew said, we have a ton of new stuff coming. So it's closed so that we can really release a bunch of stuff to our members, you know, get everybody settled, help our students, our members as much as possible, you know, so once you're in, you're in. You know, we're here to help you pass. We do not like keeping enrollment in or like enrollment like on all the time just because it's tough for us. It's tough for us to continue to get new students in and take care of our current members. I really like to focus on our current members, make sure that we are helping you guys as much as possible. So like I said, once you are in, you are in. I'm so, so excited to have you inside, Kathy. So if we are in already, we are still in? Yes, of course. Absolutely. So, Kathy, because you're a member already, you are going to get access to all the new stuff, everything. So it's just going to be dropped into your. Dropped into your dashboard. You'll see it, we'll send emails about it. You're gonna love is totally game changing. All right, my friends, we will see you next Monday, 6:30 Pacific, 9:30 Eastern. See you next week. Can you please DM me on Instagram the topic you want to talk about next week? Just so I know, like, you know where you're at, what I can help you with? What would you like to talk about next week on the Live? I might even do a story about this.
Cool.
So, yeah, check out my stories. Love, love, love. Oh, real quick. G met. Hello, Christina. I'm a member, but I don't find anything on patho. What? So go into all of, well, any of the courses. Okay, so can you tell me what you're studying now? If you're studying like cardiac. Click on our cardiac course. Go to whatever disorder you're studying and there's the patho video on it. So you have to go into the courses, like find your topic. If you're studying, you know, if you're studying diabetes and endocrine, if you're studying stroke and, you know, neurological. Check out our neurological course. You've got to go into all, you know, whatever you're studying. Make sure you find that course inside the community. It's all there for you. Pediatrics, maternity, psychology, critical care, med, surg, Fundamentals. It's all there for you inside the community. Okay. And if you have any questions, let us know. But. Yes, gmez, it's all in there. Reach out if you have any questions. All right, friends, we will see you live next week. Thanks for hanging out with us. Take care. Bye. Bye, Instagram. Bye, YouTube. See you later.
