13-days to Small Town Bigger Dreams - Chapters I didn't include

In this solo livestream, part of a 21‑day live challenge promoting the paperback launch of his book Small Town Bigger Dreams, Haritosh Srivastav thanks his audience for helping the book reach the top‑7 in the Personal Time Management category and #1 in Hot New Releases. He then uses the session to reveal five chapters that were written for the book but ultimately omitted or merged: (1) a mind‑mapping technique he uses for planning, (2) a chapter on "Imagining Bigger, Better Things" that became the book’s conclusion, (3) a discussion of flexibility in pursuing goals, (4) a chapter on imposter syndrome, and (5) a brief meditation chapter he excluded because he does not consider himself an expert. For each omitted chapter he explains its core idea, why it was valuable, and why it was left out, often tying the concepts back to his personal journey and the book’s overall message of dreaming big from a small‑town background. The livestream ends with a reminder to pre‑order the book, a promise to return with the next day’s content, and his signature sign‑off encouraging continuous learning, growth, and stepping out of comfort zones.
Chapters
Hello everyone, welcome to day 9 of 21-day live challenge. As many of you already know, I am doing a 21-day live challenge leading to the launch of paperback edition of Small Town Bigger Dreams. Thank you so much for making it the book into the top 7 in the self- Time management, personal time management. So first of all, thank you so much, thank you so much. I cannot express my thanks to all of those who have helped me, all of those who have provided me support, all of those who have been there since the time I started. So, and I'm really, really humbled, grateful for that. So thank you so much once again. And I want— I thought maybe I'll share this moment with you when what happened yesterday. And, uh, what happened yesterday when I was actually just going through, you know, I'm launching the book, so I was going through the launch and I was going through the link and I saw that it is in top 7. So I thought maybe I'll share that with all of you here. What did I find? So, uh, how do I change the camera on Instagram? Maybe like this. Hopefully, yeah, hopefully people on Instagram can see. And I refresh this. I went down and I saw it is number 7 in personal time management. Clicked on that. And you know what, I just finished listening to the audiobook of Getting Things Done and being next to David Allen for in Personal Time Management Top 7. I am beyond words. I never expected. So thank you so much everyone for making this as one of the bestsellers. And if I go to hot new releases, it was number 1. Wow, number 1 in hot new releases of Personal Time Management. Thank you so much everyone. I couldn't have asked anymore. I'm so, so grateful to all of you who have helped me throughout. Thank you so much. Thank you all. Now, today's— in today's live, I thought, what else I can discuss? I've done a live review, I've asked people who have been my accountability partner, I've done chapter reading, and every day I strive to do something different, something new. So I thought, what else I can do? And then I thought about that, no, maybe I can talk about the chapters that did not go in the book. So as many of you know, there are 21 chapters which help you in 21st century. And when I started off the book, there was actually 26 chapters. So there were 5 chapters which actually did not make it to the book. Some of them purposefully, some of them were left because I got them integrated into other chapters. So maybe I thought I can discuss about those chapters today. So number 1 of those 5 chapters was a mind mapping technique. I love having mind maps created for everything, even for this live challenge, for even my book. I do create a lot of mind maps. So I, when I was doing a keynote, I got a big chart paper and it was, it was a topic I was not sure what I'm going to talk. So I I put that theme in the center and then started putting every other idea related to that. I did not know it is called mind map back then, but that tremendously helped me to create a presentation out of that. And since then, when I was going through the book writing journey, then also I, I created a mind map of what are the different stories, what are the different lessons and learnings I have. And out of that, this Small Town Bigger Dreams came into picture. So I've been a big fan of mind mapping techniques. So that was one of the chapters which did not go. But now you, you have a lot of softwares, you can do it on a chart, on a board, uh, definitely try it. So that was one chapter that did not go. Uh, second chapter, which actually became ultimately the conclusion of the book, which was Imagining Bigger, Better Things. As the book says, small town, bigger dreams. The chapter was all about imagination inspired by The Secret, inspired by so many people's imagination. Like Albert Einstein said that no imagination is more powerful than knowledge because knowledge is limited, but imagination doesn't have a limit. I'm probably paraphrasing the quote. But the point is that until unless you imagine things, you won't be able to achieve. For me, getting into top 10 even before the book is launched is like imagining bigger things. Honestly, I did not imagine it will be such a huge success, but thank you everyone once again. So this became the conclusion that where I ask people to imagine bigger, better things. Uh, it doesn't matter whether you achieve or not, unless you imagine big, it won't happen. And everything happens twice— once in someone's mind and once in actual reality. So do that, create bigger, better things. The third chapter that was not in the book is again something which was incorporated in multiple chapters, and that was being flexible. So I do talk about that, no, I wanted to get into IIT, then IIM, and I never could make it. But had I been stubborn that no, I have to go there, I cannot make any progress, I would have not made any progress. So it's good to have bigger goals, but at times you have to be flexible. As they say, if you are the— if you are not flexible, even the trees which are the most stubborn, most strict, they actually fall down when there's a big storm. But the trees which are flexible stay on course. So you have to be flexible at times. You don't have to compromise on your ethos and integrity, but be flexible in terms of how you are going towards your goal. So that was third chapter that was not included. Fourth, and one of my favorite topics that started, that got part of the introduction, was the imposter syndrome. You might have heard this, that imposter syndrome is when people who are achievers doubt that, is it me who I am, who is achieving that, or is it something that is happening by chance and I've become accidentally successful, I was not supposed to be successful. So we all get that feeling that, no, is it me or is it the circumstances? Am I being super lucky? And that happens with most of us. And, and this is what the imposter syndrome is all about, where it says that you have to trust yourself, you have to trust your ability because you are doing great. And it's, it's not always the luck and the factor and things like that. It, it's always your hard work, it's always your smart work that leads you there. So that was Chapter 4 and Chapter 5, which I don't consider mindset for guru, and that was one of the reasons I took it out. That is chapter about meditation. Now I do meditation at times. I try to do multiple times in a week, 5 to 10 minutes, and I did write about the benefits of meditation and I totally stand by that. But the reasons I— the reason I did not include that when I had to take 21 out of 26 is that I am not an expert and I do not know much about that. I am I still consider myself a novice when it comes to meditation. So me talking about meditation would not make sense unless until I have done a few more things. So maybe that will become part of the other book I will write, hopefully, and when I have experienced a few more benefits out of meditation. So those were the 5 chapters that did not go in the book. Mind mapping, imagining bigger, better things, be flexible, imposter syndrome, and meditation. So thank you so much. Thank you once again. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for making the book in top 7 bestseller. And I'm really, really grateful. Thank you all. Thank you for everything that you do. Thank you. I cannot say— see, see, you can see I'm at loss of words. So thank you everyone. I will be back tomorrow, uh, with day 9 of, uh, or maybe day 10. I, I don't remember the count, but I'll be back tomorrow with another interesting thing about Small Town Bigger Things. I am putting the link of the book to pre-order in chat if you are interested. So until next, next time, as I say every time, Keep learning, keep growing, and keep going out of your comfort zone. This is Haritosh Srivastav, and I'll be back tomorrow with Day 10. Until next time, stay safe, stay blessed. Thank you so much. Have a wonderful day ahead.
