Are you not able to build connection? Do you feel people sideline you after having initial conversation? Now you may be committing one or more of these 3 blunders when networking. Number 1, starting with a no or negative statement. When you start your conversation on a negative tone, on a no statement, that sends a really negative vibe and that may distract the people. That may not give the positive warmth that they're looking forward to and they may avoid you. Number 2, Interrupting without apologizing. Now, I agree, at times we have to interrupt the other person. We want to put our point across. Without apologizing is bad. Without apologizing is— makes you rude. Number 3, making it all about you. Now, as humans, we want to share whatever we have got, what great things we have done, what are the accomplishments we have, but it's not about you. So you have to make it about them. Don't just say— listen, know about their background, know know about what they stand for, know about their learnings. That will make them greatly connect with you.
