Give Yourself Permission to Grow: Journey from Overthinking to One-Shot Videos @mouchat56

In this interview, Masumi (also referred to as Vasumi) Chakravarti shares her transformation after joining the Confidence Storytelling Hub and completing the November Mixer Challenge. She entered the community seeking personal confidence, self‑worth, and professional clarity, eventually becoming a life and parenting coach focused on helping mothers and women. Masumi highlights three core learnings—consistency, owning an authentic voice, and clarity of storytelling—that she attributes to the challenge’s daily, action‑oriented tasks. She describes how the practical exercises, especially the “vision for the next three years” task, pushed her out of her comfort zone, leading to a shift from overthinking on camera to delivering one‑shot, two‑minute videos with fluency. The interview concludes with her key message—“give yourself permission to grow”—and a strong recommendation for others to join the Confidence Storytelling Hub to become better communicators and influencers.

My journey, I can say it is like a combination of my personal growth and professional clarity. It was a great journey because that moment I decided I need to become more great communicator. My top 3 learnings, I can say first one is consistency. I will definitely say I loved all the challenges. It was actually like very much practical. And very much action-oriented. I've— now I can feel more grounded now while I'm speaking to my audience. Only one message: just give yourself the permission to grow. Don't think too much that I'll become confident, then I'll start.
Hey everyone, welcome to another Finisher interview. And this time again, we are back with a powerful story of how participating in these monthly challenges has been transformational. So next up, I have somebody named Vasumi Chakravarti. So Vasumi, I'm just going to add you here. Hi Vasumi, how are you doing?
I'm doing good, sir. How are you?
Doing excellent, thank you. So Vasumi, why don't you start by telling about your journey?
My journey, I can say it is like a combination of my personal growth and professional clarity. Because when I joined last year, I joined to grow myself, that I'll gain more confidence, more self-worth, more self-esteem, which I was lacking. But in the process, what happened when I became the life and parenting coach, I understood that I need to take it as a professionally. So I can help other mothers and women who are actually lacking those confidence and self-esteem which are, which I was lacking. So my journey, I can say it was really great, amazing. The person I was and the person I'm today sitting is a huge change, the new version actually. So my journey was amazing.
So for context, Masumi is part of Success for Coaches community run by one of our collaborators, Beena Srivastav, and she joined Confidence Storytelling Hub last month. I think in the end of October, that's when she became part of Confidence Storytelling Hub as well. So, Masumi, once you joined, you also started participating in the challenge, and you were one of the finishers of November Mixer Challenge. So I want to know How was this experience of being part of this mixer challenge was for you?
It was a great journey because that moment I decided I need to become more great communicator because when I am talking with my audience, I need to be more relatable so they can relate to me. So that time I decided I have to join this community and I need to take the challenges to become more confident and more consistent.
Very nice.
So I joined in the month of November, so it will be like one month in this community, and it has really helped me a lot. The environment I actually wanted, it'd be more supportive, more challenging, so it helped me a lot. And the feedback also helped me a lot.
Okay, very nice. I am really, really proud of you. So if I have to ask you, what were some of your top learnings? If I— if you have to give like, you know, couple of top learnings from going through this challenge, what would that be?
Uh, my top 3 learnings, I can say first one is consistency. It will actually build the confidence also, because when you are showing daily, uh, confidence will grow automatically. It will not come like, when my confidence will come, then I'll start speaking. So the first one is this. Second learning is My voice is only my identity, how authentically I am talking with my audience so they can connect with me. So that is important. And last one, I can say the clarity, how I am talking, how my stories relate to my audience so they can relate. It will create the connection, the bond. So these are the 3 learnings I can say.
Love that, love that. And yeah, consistency owning your voice, and then clarity. I think all of that leads to confidence. As I always say, that confidence is not something that most of us are born with. We earn our confidence by being consistent, by owning ourselves, and by continuously making progress. Amazing, amazing. I love that. So I want to know, because there were about 15 challenge— 15 different tasks in this challenge. What is it that you really liked about this challenge? And if you have to choose, which was your favorite task during this challenge?
I will definitely say I loved all the challenges. It was actually like very much practical and very much action-oriented because it pushed me slightly, slightly to come out from my comfort zone to speak properly. And when I was doing now, I felt really very excited. And the how the challenges were made, it was very consistent and it pushed me to help me the feedback to improve quickly. And I can say one challenge is it really I like, that is my vision in the next 3 years.
Yes, yes, day 14.
Yes, yes, because I'm as a certified coach and I want to see myself how I'm doing in the next 3 years. So that challenge I really liked because I want to see myself that I am helping to 10,000 mothers and women to gain the confidence and the self-esteem how I am— I have done today. So that, uh, challenges was really great.
Amazing, brilliant. And I think this is like common favorite among many of the participants. We all like that to getting into that the mindset of, you know, what would the next 3 years look like, and then telling the story, future story, from their perspective. Brilliant. So now if I ask you, you participated, you completed, but one of the most important thing that I always look for is the outcome. Like, you did something and you take part, executed, but what has been the outcome for you personally? What has changed in Masumi, after going through this mixer challenge, I now I can feel more grounded now while I'm speaking to my audience.
That is thing. That thing next, more expressive on camera, because before now I used to overthink while I'm speaking. So now that flow has come. So this 15 challenges helped me a lot because when I'm doing the daily now, so I slowly I became the in the confidence while talking to people. So, and I'm more connected to my audience through my stories and through my voice. So this helped me a lot. I became more confident, more consistent. So these challenges really helped me a lot.
Amazing. I'm gonna ask you a question, okay? Tell us— and this is a fun question— tell us how long did it take for you to do the first video and how long it take for you to do the 15th video?
First video, it took me 3 or 4 times because when I did the first shot, I didn't like that. Yeah, 3, 4, I have taken that. But last 2 or 3, it's one shot. Wow, I didn't break means 2, 3 shots, only one shots. I have finished in 2 minutes video. So that is the thing, because when you are doing every day now, that fluency comes automatically. It will not stop.
Absolutely, I totally agree. And that's typically the outcome for people. Many of the people actually, when they start, they take hours and hours to prepare and write down and then take many shots. And then towards the end, they're like, okay, give me the next task, I am ready. So that's what happens. Yeah, awesome. So if I ask you now, we have come to the second last question, which is There are, you know, there are many members in the community who have still not taken the plunge, who have either not started or they started many times but couldn't finish the challenge. So what is your message and what are some of your tips that you want to give to them?
Only one message: just give yourself the permission to grow. Don't think too much that I'll become confident, then I'll start. Just push yourself little bit and take the challenges. It will definitely help you to become your best self. And be consistent, open to your feedback. Whatever videos or challenges you are doing, open and be open to your feedback. And I will definitely say to my all my friends, take the challenges in a positive mindset and jump on it. It will definitely help you.
Love that, love that. I love that phrase that you said, that, no, give yourself permission to grow. I think I love that because a lot of us actually are too much in our head and we restrict ourselves before anybody else. So first we need to give ourselves permission that yes, you are allowed to grow, you are born to grow, and then yes, you can figure out all the mechanics and how to find the script, how to get up the camera. That I think is the shorter journey. The bigger journey is giving yourself the opportunity and permission to grow. So love that. Thank you for that response. Now, uh, Wasmi, you've been part of the community for about 1.5 months now.
Yes.
So I want to ask you this question. First of all, would you recommend Confidence Storytelling Hub to others and also recommend people taking up this challenge?
Absolutely, yes. Because if you want to be a good communicator, be more confident, and most important thing, if you want— if you someone who wants to influence people through your voice and messages, definitely go for it. It will transform you from inside. That is the main thing. Because as my mentor Binna ma'am is telling, transform people, transform others.
Absolutely. If you are on the journey of transforming others, First you need to transform, so when you are helping others, you transform yourself. Love that. Thank you so much, Mosumi. You have been— yeah, one of the achievers of the community. That's why we are doing the interview, and your journey is going to definitely inspire many of the members.
Definitely thankful, grateful to you, sir. Thank you so much.
Thank you, Mosumi. So thank you. Story power to you, as we say.
Thank you, sir.
Thank you, Maasumi. So that was Maasumi, who found a lot of inner transformation, who gave herself permission to grow, and that's why she was able to achieve the finisher title. If you're somebody who is looking to grow from within, if you're someone who wants to become more camera confident or want to share your message with the world I would urge you, I would recommend you join Confident Storytelling Hub because we have a community of 150 members from 8 countries where we are here to help each other to grow, to help each other transform, and in the process we become a better speaker, storyteller, and communicator. I love doing these interviews and I will continue to do these interviews. We have many, many more interviews planned out, so you'll keep hearing about those on all my social medias. Until next time, stay tuned. And as I say every time, until next time, keep learning, keep growing, and keep going out of your comfort zone. Story power to you!
