A boy throws starfish back into the sea one by one. When an old man asks why he bothers, the boy says, "It matters to this one." The story argues that helping even one person is meaningful work, not wasted effort.
Chapters
One fine morning, an elderly person was walking on the beach. Like the usual walk, he was walking, and then he saw a young boy doing something. The young boy was continuously bending down and throwing something into the sea. The man was actually perplexed. He went close to him and asked, 'What are you doing, young boy?' 'You see, uncle, these are the starfishes that are thrown by the sea in the night and I am sending them back to the sea one by one. If they don't go back into the sea, they will die.' This is ridiculous. There are hundreds and thousands of starfish. It does not matter how many you throw, you will not be able to do any change. You will not be able to complete it. The young boy picked up another starfish and threw it in the sea. And said, "Uncle, it matters to this one." So many times in our life, we try to make a change to the world, but we forget about how we can make a change to one person. It does not matter whether you are able to make a change to the whole world, but if you can make a change to one single person, it is all worth it.
