Haritosh Srivastav explains a technique from Greg McKeown's Essentialism: ask a third follow-up question in conversation to deepen curiosity and build stronger connections with people.

Are you asking the third question? Now, I was listening to this podcast by a guy named Greg McKeown. He's a New York Times bestselling author of the book The Essentialism. He has his own podcast, and he said something which was really interesting. And he said that all the great leaders, whether it's Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, so on and all, they have this one quality in common, and that the quality is curiosity. They are really curious to know things. They're really curious to go deep into what happens and how things happen and why things happen. And he said how you can develop the curiosity is by asking the third question. Here's how you do. If you are interacting with someone or group or person, instead of just asking one surface-level question, then ask the next question, okay, why does that happen? And then go on further deep, ask the third question, which is even deeper. When you do that, your curiosity goes up and the other side feels super connected to you. I hope you will try out this hack.
