A coach explains how to break the filler word habit. First, listen to your recordings and notice when you say "and," "like," "um," or "ah." Then replace those moments with pauses. Repetition rewires your brain to think before you speak.

Hey, coach, I think I find myself saying 'and' and 'like' too many times. So how can I improve that? Well, first of all, self-awareness is the first step to mastery, right? Because most of the people, when they're using these crutch words like 'um,' 'ah,' and 'and,' they don't even know they're using it while the audience are able to notice it every time. So you are on the right track. You have become self-aware. Now what you need to do is you need to break the pattern. So maybe next time when you feel like the urge to say 'and' again, just take a pause. Maybe you go through your videos and again and again then analyze what is it that you, you do that end up using 'and' and 'like' a lot. And this will consciously rewire your brain, so you'll become conscious every time you have to say 'and.' You'll think about whether this is the right 'and' or I need to take a pause. Very first step is you are already self-aware. Now you need to take action and replace your and, like, and other filler words with a small pause.
