Someone keeps cutting you off mid-sentence? Try this: "Mr. X, thank you, but I'm still not done." It works because it acknowledges them, holds your ground, and promises to hear them out after you finish.

Have you ever had a serial interrupter encounter? If you didn't understand what I mean, was you were in a meeting, you were sharing your perspective, and somebody out there was constantly interrupting you. Yes, it's a very common scenario, but what is important is how do you tackle that. So these interrupters typically will jump the moment you are taking a micro pause. Maybe you are completing the sentence, maybe you are bringing your ideas to articulation, and that's when these interrupters jump. So how you can do that? Something like this: Mr. X, thank you, but I'm still not done. I'm still sharing some more details. If you allow me couple more minutes, I'd like to wrap up before we move on to your suggestion. Now what does that do? It first of all acknowledges that they are interrupting your flow, and then you have some more time before you finish and then you are also open to their ideas or their questions. So that way you are being respectful, but you are also setting a boundary. Try this next time you meet a serial interrupter and let me know in the comments how did it go.
