Story Spark Day 13 - Finding The Purpose

In this live coaching session, the facilitator (Haritosh Srivastav) leads the Day 13 class of the Story Spark program, marking the final session of week 2, which focuses on confidence and mindset. The core activity is a purpose‑finding exercise designed to give participants a personal anchor that will sustain their daily storytelling practice when motivation wanes. Participants are guided to spend a few minutes writing down why they are engaging in the storytelling course, using a “why‑why‑why” probing technique to dig beyond surface‑level answers. After the silent writing, each participant shares their purpose statement: Harsha cites discipline and punctuality; Venkat emphasizes becoming an effective communicator to influence others and improve his financial prospects; Rajesh talks about adding value to his own life and then to others through storytelling. The facilitator reinforces the importance of deepening these statements, posting them in the course WhatsApp group, and creating visual reminders (posters, notes) in personal spaces. He also announces the upcoming third Storython session (focused on sourcing stories) and reminds the group of the continued 15‑minute daily storytelling practice. Participants reflect on how the course has already improved their communication and confidence, noting shifts from introversion toward more extroverted expression. The session ends with gratitude, encouragement to keep learning, and a reminder to share purpose statements publicly, whether in the WhatsApp group or YouTube comments.

Awesome! Welcome to day 13 of the Story Spark session, and today's session is the last session of week 2. So week 1 was all about the fundamentals of storytelling where we talked on different types of storytelling. Week 2 is all about building confidence and mindset. So today is going to be the last session, and this evening we have the third week of the Storython, so third session. Of the Storython where we are going to talk about how you can get stories from a number of resources, number of sources that you can get hundreds of stories. So from tomorrow onwards, we'll be working on getting different stories to you. But this one session is very, very important because in this one session you are going to learn about one concept, one thing that will keep you accountable. That will keep you going in this journey of storytelling. You see, there will be times when you will feel frustrated. There will be times when you will feel low. There will be times where you will feel lowless. And this one activity which will be— which we will do today is going to bring you back when you go down low. And that activity is called knowing your purpose. What is your purpose, right? So I'm just showing the slide. There is nothing on the slide, but what we are going to do is I want you to think about why are you doing— why are you getting up so early? Why you are practicing so many things? Why you are trying to learn about storytelling? Because this thing is the purpose of the storytelling, purpose of why you're doing what you're doing. So I want you to think about that, and I want you to take couple of minutes and don't just write surface level thing, which I mean that, okay, I just want to, just want to learn. That is a very surface level thing. I want you to think deeper. That is why I will Just, there is just one line on the slide and I want you to think deeper for 2-3 minutes. We will play the music and whatever comes at the end of 3 minutes while you are thinking about the purpose. And one of the ways to find the purpose is keep asking why. So for example, you want to, you want to become confident, then you ask question, okay, why I want to become confident? Because I want to be able to communicate. The next question would be, okay, why I want to become confident? Because I, I want to do so and so. So go 2, 3, 4 levels deep, and whatever comes out is going to be the purpose that you are doing all of this. And this purpose is only going to help you in the long run, because every time you fall down, this purpose will bring you back and That is the exercise today. So I want you to— I'm just sharing this only. As I said, there's only one line on the slide, which is remembering your purpose. What is your purpose? And when the music is playing, I want you to start writing down. Don't think too much, just write down whatever comes to your mind. And after 2 minutes, I'm gonna ask you to stop writing, and then we'll do the group sharing, and this will help us realize our purpose of why we are doing this. So let me share the screen. Okay, so get down to your pen and paper or wherever your note-taking device is and just take a minute, just take a minute. By doing the— question why, why I voted for that, why, why is it so important? Last 30 seconds. All right, have we done the purpose finding? Acha?
Yes, sir.
Okay, Venkat, do you need more time?
No, no, I, I, I, I, I wrote.
You didn't get that purpose?
Yes, I get, I get.
You get that? Okay, okay, let's start with Harsha. The purpose of why you are doing—
my purpose is to acquire discipline in life. Very nice. So I am trouble with punctuality, lack of punctuality, so I am I'm getting failures. Second thing is consistency, lack of consistency. So daily early morning, 5 o'clock, uh, getting up is very good to health as well as— and we're adding 2 hours to our life daily. We are getting positive waves because of you. Thank you very much.
Awesome, everybody, right? Story Power to You, SPTUI. Now let's go to Venkat. Please go ahead and share what is your purpose, why are you doing all of this?
Morning to all. I realized that storytelling is the major part in the communication, and I would like to communicate efficiently and influence the my boss, my friends, relatives, my members. So that's the reason I joined storytelling course. And in addition, I heard if we communicate properly, then our financial level would be increased by 200%. So I would like to be a best communicator. So in that, storytelling is a major part. That's the reason. Awesome purpose.
Awesome. Great job, Venkat.
So thank you, thank you.
Story power to you as well. Everybody write in the comment. Okay, let's go to Rajesh.
Uh, good morning. Good morning. Okay, the purpose— my purpose is I I always wanted to create some difference in, uh, people's life. And for that, it is important first you create difference in your own life. Yes, you need to add value in your own life. So storytelling, I believe, is one of the most effective way to get connected with people, to know them openly. And naturally, because we all get connected with stories. And this is the most, uh, simplest way to get connected or to communicate with them effectively. Absolutely. So yes, to add value in my own life and then in others' life, I wanted to— I'm there, that is my purpose.
Absolutely. Amazing as always, Rajaji. So story power to you as well. So here is one small assignment I want all of you to do is whatever purpose you have written down, go little deeper and then write it in our WhatsApp group as well so that others also get inspired. So please do that so that it will be a reminder. This journey is I never promised that this journey is going to be a bed of roses, as they say. This journey will be tough at times, and it is this purpose that will remind you. In fact, I want you to go one layer down and just write it or create a poster or place it somewhere in your room, where you work, where you live, so that it will keep reminding you of this bigger purpose. So do that, and if you want to, you can take a picture and share with me. This is the day 13 of the Story Spark session. So for the members, we have the third session of the Storython tonight, or this evening at 8 PM, where we will be discovering the different sources of storytelling. So from tomorrow onwards, we'll be working on getting a lot of stories in this 15-minute session. I hope you are enjoying the session. So I'll See you tomorrow at 6 PM, but I would love to hear your experience as well because we have got few minutes. So I love to go around the room and hear the experience of what this exercise meant to you. Over to you, Harsha.
Thank you, Haritosh Srivastav. It's a good experience, and we should— I will write this, uh, discipline and consistency and I will stick it to the my bedroom, in my bedroom and hall. So it's a very good idea you gave. Thank you. It's a very good experience. And I, I like to say, please continue this 15 minutes daily.
Yes, we are going to continue. Yes, we are going to continue. The, the process will change. So we worked on different types of stories, we worked on building confidence, but we also need to work on different aspects. So from tomorrow, the, the type of exercises will change, but we are going to—
I'm not saying that. I'm saying early morning, yes, you keep Zoom class.
Yeah, I'm loving it. Yeah, it's a bit of stress for me, but yeah, no problem.
I love it.
Awesome.
Thank you for joining. Yes, Venkat, how was your experience?
Yes, recently I realized that after joining Stuart Reading course, I communicate with others better because everything we discuss during tea time or lunchtime, something past experience or future things, but everything is like a story. Yes. So now I am somewhat better communicate And I'm now— I feel that I'm slightly moving to extrovert from introvert, but not a real thing, but it's based because of the storytelling.
Very nice, Venkat. And just for clarification, you don't need to be extrovert to be a good communicator. Those are different dimensions. You can be introvert but still be an amazing communicator. Awesome. Let's go to Rajesh. How your own experience has been and what did specifically for today's session made you realize?
Yes, uh, overall I'm loving this, uh, journey. Yes, this is something which is creating a difference in your life in terms of making you disciplined, determined, uh, right? When you're not able to make it on at 6 o'clock, definitely you feel something is missing in your life. And today's this activity, what is your purpose, So what I feel whenever I think of, I listen to this, uh, thing, I, I really wanted to go deep into it. What exactly is the purpose of my life? What exactly is there which really I wanted to do and shine? What is that one thing which, uh, for which I'm still finding that this what is my calling and want to do? It takes me so deep, but I feel this is small, uh, statement, but it, it has a great meaning or deep meaning which probably I'm still missing to find out.
You will get it. It's really good.
Yeah, the biggest thing is that you need to have that desire and hunger to get there. Once you, once you have the desire, then you'll find the ways to get there. So awesome story. Power to all of you, and thank you so much for being part of Confident Storytelling Hub. And extra thank you for showing up this morning. It's not easy, so really I acknowledge all of your presence. And for those watching, you can still do the exercise. If you're part of Confident Storytelling Hub, use our WhatsApp group to share your purpose. Even if you're not part of it, this video goes on YouTube every day, so you can write it as a comment. And I wish you all lot and lot of story power, lot and lot of communication. Thank you so much. We'll see you tomorrow. Take care. And as I say every time, until next time, keep learning, keep growing, and keep going out of your comfort zone. See you tomorrow. Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you.
