Chapters
Friends, one of my friends, she is an artist and lover of nature. She told me to collect stones, and while I was going to Bhopal, she told me that bring 'Few stones for me.' And what I did is I just picked up the stone from the roadsides and brought it, whereas she wanted the stones which were supposed to be from the riverside, soft, silky, and colorful. So that is the difference between the emotion that she had and me. Thank you.
Excellent.
Thank you so much. And I just realized that I hadn't started the recording. So for the recording purpose, we are exploring the emotions today. So what we went through is 3 phases of emotions. And then I also just joined, so for Tanay also, what we're doing is exploring emotions in storytelling. So we're looking at 3 different emotions. One is before the big change happens, or any, any, uh, any, uh Resolution happens. Second one is during transformation or change, what is the emotion? And third is after the resolution or after the transformation. So Dinesh, you already covered that. Let's go to Debra.
Yes, thank you. Can you hear me?
Yes, we can hear you.
Okay, perfect, perfect. So thank you, Haritosh Srivastav, for giving me this opportunity. Okay, so my emotions are when I was moving from, uh, my previous role as a designer to an architect. Okay, that's my role. So what was happening was I've been in that role for a long time, so it was getting a bit stagnant. So it was like, uh, the feeling was I was stuck. Then I said to myself It's okay, I have a desire of being something, uh, going to the next step, but I need to do this my best. Whatever I'm doing right now, do it my best. And in a month or two, I was very fortunate to get an opportunity that came to, to me, and I, I answered the interview and I got it. So I was very happy to get the, uh, role of an architect.
Excellent, excellent. Thank you so much for sharing. And this is what we do, we'll say story power to you, SPTY to Deborah as well. So story power to you.
Thank you.
Awesome. So everybody type SPTY in the chat. And now let's go to Alka ji.
So Yes.
When I was—
when I fell down with my two children, when I was going to drop them to the babysitter, I realized that I was a cruela. I was like a cruel mom. I did not care for my children, and I felt disgusted, and I felt very bad with that emotion when I fell down. And then when I was lying in the hospital bed with my fracture, the thought that came to me was 'This has to change. I cannot do this all my life.' And it was at that time I gave in my resignation, and the transformation came to me that it's not that I don't love my children, I don't love myself. And from there the changes came, and I took the attitude of loving myself, loving my children, loving my family, and I became the captain of my soul, the master of my destiny. And that's how I designed my job, and all my feelings and emotions changed after that. Thank you.
Excellent.
Thank you for sharing, and story power to you as well. Now let's go to Rajeshri, then we'll go to Venkat and then—
Okay, so, uh, this story is, uh, like being non-thankfulness to thankful, uh, personality. So it was like Why I am earning so less? Why people have all blessings, why not to us? Why people are so fortunate, why not me? And then the mentor came into my life, and then I heard gratitude has a power. Once you start giving thanks, once you feel thankfulness for all the things which you have this water, this sunlight, this air. You are not paying anything. Yes, you are getting all our blessings for you. You are healthy, you can smile. It's a big blessings for you. Start sharing your blessings for small, small things and your life will change miraculously. And yes, friends, the— from the day I started doing it, now I'm always happy. I don't care what is happening in my life, it is a good phase or bad phase, but I always feel calm, composed, and I have always have a hope in my life. Yes, there is something good in, into it. So I feel, uh, that from the day I started giving, feeling grateful, uh, for things, whatever I have in my life, whatever I don't have in my life, I start— I started witnessing a great change in my life. Now I am so happy, and I'm happy for everything. So thank you so much.
Excellent, excellent. So story power to you as well, going from feeling resentful, feeling lack of things, to feeling grateful and joy and amazing. So now let's go to Venkat. Yes, Venkat.
Good morning to all.
Good.
A few years back, my goal was bodybuilding. I had been practicing since year 2013. My mentor, my master, uh, Saravanand guided me, and I practicing. I skipped all my functions, festivals, food, other enjoyments. I invested my full time to gym, and I invested my whole salary to my body. One year over, two years over, but I couldn't get a result. Then I asked Master, Master, when will I compete in the competition? He said, Venkat, you are not focusing, your muscles are not mature, and you need to practice more. At that time, I couldn't take any decision to move from how to handle, because I am the only person working out for bodybuilding in that gym. I couldn't share my feeling. The whole 2 years I skipped all the functions, festivals, food, everything. So then at the time my thinking was, if I move to other gym, another master, then again another 2 years it take, 2 years to again, because masters don't share the secret. Even students pay the fees. So that's the reason I stayed for another 2 years. Then situation came, lockdown and flood, so lot of things came after that. Then only I moved to another gym. So from this I conclude that we have to stay for time to realize. So that's the feeling I understand. Thank you.
Awesome. So what were the feelings when you were going through that struggle that no, you you are hitting the gym, doing all the nutrition, everything, and there's no result to finally getting to stages and, and you've won state championship, etc. What were the feelings at that time?
I couldn't share to anybody because no one in the same, uh, same track at the time, and I I couldn't take any decision at that time also. So I waited for my time and focus, focus, focus. I didn't blame my master. So focus is the main and take responsibility for my life.
Excellent, excellent. Thank you so much for sharing story. Power to you as well. And Yes, we have Tanay as well joining. So Tanay, go ahead and would love to share snapshot of your story and what were the different emotions.
So this is, this is one common sequence of event which happens with most of us. This is the one sequence where you move from like fearful to joyful.
Yes.
And this is like one which like frequent happen frequently with us, but we We are still like fearful at the beginning. So this is about calling your old friends. So many times, uh, we, we are very fearful that this person has become a big shot. Should I call him or should I not call him? And years pass and you, you don't make a connection with them. And once you call them, you say, it's so normal, miss. He is also very, very joyful with after talking to you. And you were— this is— this fear was a story which was spoke by your mind, that that person might be busy, he is a big shot, how, how what he will think about you when you call him. And once you make a call, you say that that connection is very natural, he is very happy with talking to you. And like a few days back when I called my friend after 15 years and we met together, we had a tea, and then I thought why I haven't called him for like 15 years. Wow, with many of us.
Amazing. And yes, we, we— I mean, at least I can relate on so much level, not only with friends, with, you know, big mentors and all. You feel like, okay, this is such a big mentor, big person, and then when you meet them, they are so humble and they're so having gratitude. And amazing. Awesome. So let's take— because we have new, new members who have joined, so let's try to take another picture. Once again, and then we'll go to the last part, which is the affirmation. So let's bring the heart out. Beautiful to see 4 geographies now coming. Awesome. I think I got it.
Yes.
So now let's go to the last part of the StorySpark session. Before I do that, let's quickly share how did you feel during this exploring emotion exercise. So I want you to quickly share what were your takeaway and what were your feelings in maybe about 20 to 30 seconds. So we'll go a little faster. So let's start with Dinesh ji. Dinesh ji, how did this exercise make you feel?
Yes, what I think is emotion is one of the areas where we should bring. Let me give a quote. My son told me that his master said that business is nothing but how you share the emotions. So unless and until you bring emotion in your story, in your life, in your working, in your talk, it becomes just dry. So we need to learn it. Thank you.
Absolutely, absolutely. Story power to you. True business is the exchange of emotion. Awesome. Let's go to Deborah, your first time in StorySpark or any other session of Confidence Storytelling Hub. And yeah, joining. And I, for those who do not know, I think it's probably almost 2 AM there, 1:49 AM in UK.
So how do you—
Yeah. Yes, it's very good. So my wording would be emotion is ego in motion. So when you do ego in motion, you are actually breaking that ego you have, which is a nice thing. Just like how Tanay said, from fearful you go into joy and happiness. So that's what it is. Thank you.
Awesome, excellent. Thank you, Saurabh. Over to you, Alka ji, quickly, 30 seconds.
So what I thought was that I'm telling the same story, but I was not focusing on the emotion so much. So I think using those words resentment, or using the word fearful, or using that word how I'm feeling at that particular time, and how afterwards when the resolution happens, how I'm feeling. Joyful and happy and excited. Those words are very important and they should be used more often. Thank you.
Excellent. Thank you, Story Power. To you, Rajesh ji.
Yes, so what I feel, that emotions has a great impact in our life. They can make your life, they can break your life. So yes, you need to choose, or like, where, where your emotions are taking you.
Absolutely. When you focus on the right emotion, it goes into the positive trajectory. Awesome, thank you. Let's go to Venkat.
When we recall our past story, then at the time it might be frustration or a negative feeling, but now we share. We, with the great gratitude, I am sharing. I don't have the same frustration now, I don't have. But when I share, it is difficult to share the same emotion. Now it's difficult to share, I feel, but I need to practice to express my emotion. That I need to practice. Thank you.
Absolutely. And that's why you're joining StorySpark session every day, practicing different parts and insight and nuggets of storytelling. Awesome story power to you. Last but not the least, what were your takeaway and insight from today's exercise?
So my takeaway with like dealing with emotions is when you label emotions you become more aware of those emotions, and then you are able to handle them in a better way. Because emotional intelligence is like more important than having a big IQ.
Exactly, exactly, absolutely. Thank you so much for sharing. And as I said, yes, emotional intelligence is even more powerful than IQ and other cues, whatever we have. So now let's go to the last part, which is the 3 different affirmations we do. So as every day, I'm gonna show it on the screen. You'll see it on my video. Let me first spotlight myself, and you will see it on the bottom part of the video. And I'm gonna say it first, and everybody keep yourself unmuted and you're gonna repeat that. So let's start with the first one. I give my emotions a voice.
I give my emotions a voice.
Awesome. Let's go to the second one. I don't just tell stories, I make people feel them. And last one. My story is a river of emotion, and I'm not afraid to let it flow.
My story is a river of emotion, and I'm not afraid to let it flow.
Awesome. So wish you all a happy, joyful, and storyful day. Keep capturing, keep sharing. Have a great day, and story power to you all. Thank you so much once again.
