Aaj ka topic bahut hi jada interesting hai and something that I have applied and mere bahut saade clients ne bhi apply kiya hai. Storytelling for job search, storytelling for professional growth, storytelling for working professional. Kaise storytelling help kar sakte hai? Before mai aapko woh sat di ke vataon jisne storytelling help kar sakte hai. Let me tell you a small story. Mere client hai jo ki bahut hi technical hai and he was looking for a job change., and he reached out to me one day saying, Haritosh, you know, I'm trying to switch the job, but technical though clear ho jata hai, like in jaise hi HR wale question aate hain, I get stuck. I don't know what to do. Then I asked him, okay, tell me ki kis tarah ke question pooch aate hain, and he said that, na, kaibar leadership type ke question pooch aate hain, and pooch aata hai ki aap team player hain, and And then I asked him, okay, so what do you answer? I said, training, role play. And then I asked him that, no, project may crisis, and you really helped. So he thought for a few minutes and then he said, you know, Haritosh Srivastav, project may I was able to save millions of dollars for the client. And there I was, my eyes open, exactly. Yeah, interviews, storytelling can really help you stand out. So let's get started. So, pehla question generally kya hota hai? Let's start with the number 1. Pehla question hota, tell me about yourself. Now, bahut sare log jab unse ye question puchata, they start telling, oh, I am a B.Tech, I am an MBA, I come from this city, I've done this course. Not bad, but literally it's a boring one. How about you change it to a story? You change that, no, I, even though I come from a small town, I've achieved this much, and then it had a journey. I started like this And then I started as a junior engineer, and then with my hard work and commitment, I got promoted. And then I moved to another job where I was given opportunity to lead a team. And then here I am working as a project manager handling Fortune 500 customer. Whatever your role is, if you tell your introduction in a way of a story, in a way of a narrative, aapka impression ek alag hi pata hai, memorable hai. So the first way you can use storytelling for your job interview is by making a story about tell me about yourself. Number 2, doosra question, bhat bhat puchha tha ki tell us about your achievement, ya koi awards mila hai, ya koi accolades mila hai. And a lot of time when you put it on the resume, it is good, but when a question is asked about that, instead of telling, oh, I got a star player award, or I got the star of the quarter award, tell us that I was working on a highly critical project, and it was, it was such a daunting task. I had to really slog so many hours, take help from people, but I persevered. I, I remembered, mujhe patadha ki ye goal bahut jyada important hai, this is very critical to the project. So I forgot everything, and that is why I was awarded this, and I'm really grateful for that, and I love to apply the learning. So when you put a narrative about even your achievements, even your awards, it makes it so memorable for your interviewer. Let's go to the third one. So the third one is where you are answering some behavioral question. A lot of time agar aapko question pooch ja ja ki aap, you a team player? Are you a leader? Are you like to delegate? Do you like to coach your team? Ek simple boring answer hota, yes, I do that. But better answer is you share a story. You share a story of the time when you realize the importance of delegating the task to your team members. You can say, I did not know the power of delegation until I really understood it. I gave a task to my junior team member and he did it wonderfully. Even I could not have done that. And then I realized that. So now whenever there is a project, I look forward to how I can utilize the team to their fullest potential and Bring the creativity, bring the different perspective. Narrative story, it shows that you are having creative skills, you are having leadership skills, and makes a really good impression on your interviewer. Let's move to the fourth one. Another question that is often asked in the interview is, why should we hire you? Why should this company XYZ should hire you? At that time, a lot of people go on to rant, ki maine yeh kiya hai, maine vo kiya hai, maine yeh. You can talk about a story which shows that your vision and values align. For example, if you're joining a company or planning to appear for an interview of a company which is very high in terms of corporate governance, then you say that, no, I am a proud citizen and I like to follow rules and what is the impact And when I read about the company XYZ and its corporate governance stories, I really, really connect with them. And this reminds me of time— and then you tell a story. So this is where you make that impression that you are really aligning with the vision and values of the company. So the fourth one is when you are trying to connect on a personal level and trying to answer the question, why should you hire with a twist. Let's move to the fifth one. So the fifth one is when you are highlighting your growth and learning. A simple example of this would be that ki ab bolok ki maine yeh XYZ certification kiya hai, or you say in a storied way, in a better way, by telling a story that how it was so difficult for you to having a full-time job and then also pursue this certification, but you are committed. You are really keen to get this because not only for the certificate or so, but for the knowledge that you really look forward to. And, and that is why when you got that certification, you felt like you are on the 9th cloud. So basically what you're telling is it's kind of an underdog story, how you struggled to keep pace with learning and job, but still you persevered. So jab aap is tareke kuch perspective dete hain, jab aap growth ki learning ki baat karte hain, so it makes a really good impression on the interviewer ki you are having a growth mindset. You are someone who can be trusted that you will grow yourself and you will grow the team and the company as well. Let's talk about the 6th way. I hope you are enjoying this because I am having fun while recording itself. So I'm very sure you are having fun too. And the 6th one is the questions about the, the being a team player, being the guy who loves collaboration. I'm very sure if you're working in a, in a team, you have multiple personalities, multiple teams, multiple departments that you collaborate with. So when you're going for the interview, have those stories ready where you No, you are partnered with different departments or different customer departments or different team members and how you work together for a common goal, for a common success. Now that's a great story because that shows that you are open to collaboration, you are open to working in a team, you are not somebody who is just that, you know, my way or highway kind of person. And that is great because Most of us work in teams, most of us do not work solo, and even if you are a solopreneur, you still need to work with lot of vendors, customers, etc. So if you are going for these kind of interviews and these kind of stories in interviews, that really show that you are all in for a team player. So this is the 6th way you can use stories to show your expertise, your collaboration skills. Let's talk about the 7th and the final way stories help you in clearing your interviews. And the final one, the 7th one, is where you bring it all together. You know, most of the times you get a chance to give one final answer about why you are the ideal candidate, why they should select you. And us time pe, when you share a compelling story, a compelling narrative, it makes a really, really good impression. Impression, finish on your interview, and then you give the final story. So that is why very important, ki stories ko prepare karki jaye, you are ready, you are equipped with these stories. So let's have a quick recap of how you can use stories for interviews. So number 1, exactly crafting your pitch, or questions about, no, tell us about yourself. Instead of just telling your qualification and certification, you tell a story. Number 2, whenever you are highlighting your achievements, your, your big goals that you have undertaken, you tell a story. Number 3 is when you are answering behavioral question like about leadership, collaboration, team building, that's when you can share a story. Number 4 is when you are trying to build a connection with the, with the interviewer, with the company, with the department itself, you tell a compelling narrative, as they say. Number 5 is jab aap apne growth or learning ko highlight karna chaatein, you tell with the story that will— is really sticky. Number 6 is when you are trying to emphasize on the team collaboration, that you are not a solo player, you are a team player, you tell with the stories and examples. And number 7 and final one is when you are closing the interview, you are closing with a compelling conclusion. You're telling a compelling narrative. So I hope ab ko ye video bhot majaa aaya ho aur ab ko kuch seekhne ko mila ho. Please comment karege bata hai ki konsa hai sa tip tha jo ki aap apne next interview mein certainly apply karene wale.
