You have been, I won't say changing, but you'll be evolving so many different careers. How does that all that happen? Like going from public speaker, TV host, and certified life coach, you've got 20+ years of sales marketing experience, and now you are India's leading brand strategist and brand strategy coach for entrepreneurs. So how does that all that happen?
Well, it all started with a very simple job, I would say, telemarketing. That was my very first role in Standard Chartered Bank and just selling cars. So I thought, okay, you know, auto loans, I'll be surrounded by all the cars. But then, you know, the reality, we went to an office and we were just on a desk with a phone. That time there were no mobiles. So you have that phone and you're just calling up people and Yellow Pages, that used to be our source of lead at that time. And that's how it all started and I loved it. I loved every moment of what we were doing because we were every day learning something new. We would talk to different people, they were asking us different questions. So it was not just that we were doing our job, We were learning at our job. It is also how you look at it. And that somewhere triggered, I wanted the automobile in my life, I wanted that speed in my life. And I came to know much later that money loves speed.
Yes.
Till then, I only knew about the speed, and I didn't know how the money was coming. Much later in my life, I came to know why it was happening. Because I was always wanting to do more. See, you have to push yourself beyond your comfort level. You have to strive for more. You have to— that's why I say you have to visualize more, and you have to then really chase those dreams that I want to achieve it. So what I started doing was I started going, attending trainings. That helps a lot, which in today's time is a more structured manner, is called coaching, right? That time the training was something which if you could get your hands on, never miss it. So I would say anybody getting any coaching sessions, any workshop, don't miss it if at all you want to learn. And be specific into what you like, not just attending any webinar and attending any workshop, no. Whatever you are aiming at, make a conscious effort to improvise, to learn and implement it. Try it. Then only you would know how easy or difficult it is. And that's exactly what happened with me. So then from the bank to doing trainings with the Tatas and with Hyundai Motors at that time, I remember.. And then I stumbled upon hospitality, and hospitality training did a miracle.
That taught different types of new senses of customer care, because the way hospitality industry takes care of their clients, that's exemplary. How you do not lose your cool cool no matter what situation. So then that's how from sales directly, I went into the customer care and then we moved out of India, I got married, went to Dubai and Dubai not just opened my eyes, I would say opened my eyes here. That's where the branding seed was actually sown that how A country can be developed from a desert wherein people would say it's against the culture that we follow, it's against the norms that we follow. They defied all odds. Today they are the— it's the leading country, you know, in this entire world. So how can you get people to promote you, to come and work with you, to come and support you grow, that country can be taken as a case study. And that's what has been the catalyst in my life, I would say, for my growth. Because then I wanted a life like the one, which is not just the materialistic part, but how you incorporate If you look at from their point of view, because I happen to work with the Royal Family of Saudi Arabia as well, so I could see how do they think. When they conceptualize an idea, how do they look at it? So from their point of view, if you see Dubai, they have kept their culture with the modernism, with the technology absolutely in sync. We all can do it. And when I saw Akshardham Temple in India, in Delhi, and that was very much like on those same lines. So you have to have an inspiration. You just draw inspiration from whatever attracts you. You know, if you get pulled, if you feel that, yes, you're feeling that attraction towards any subject, there is a reason behind it. What we call in our coaching language, the alignment of your core values.
True.
The technology was something which was there in me, and I saw that and I got attracted. The progression, the development, always and always, I mean, striving to innovate, to offer something a user experience which I call. So I used to take bus from my home to my office because we had the direct route. I was privileged, I would say. My house was very close to the bus stop, which is very difficult otherwise in Dubai. So they didn't have metro at that time. So every time we would pass the areas, every month Maximum 2 months, Haritosh Srivastav, the entire flowers, the scenery on our way would have changed. And I was like, maximum, I think maximum window that I had seen at that time was 3 months. Every month there has to be a new element, and every 3 months it will be completely changed. So that means what you saw 3 months ago will not be there now. That is the level of innovation. You have to put in that effort to grow those plants. I came to know that they were importing sand because they didn't have the material, right? That soil which you need to grow plants, they did it. At that time, they announced that we will make forests from Dubai till Abu Dhabi, and they actually started. You know, so you have to have that vision. So a lot of things which I learned from Dubai was how to have that vision and how to work backward towards them. And on your way, keep on innovating, keep on doing something new, and do it far better than the expectations of anybody. You know, you only answer— you can give to the world when they say like, oh, is this your idea? Oh really, are you going to do this? So you don't have to like really justify. You give them an answer with a proof. You create that reality, and that's the ultimate answer. That's what I learned. That's how my life journey started, and that's how the branding, the personal brand, my very first venture, that's how it all happened. Attending the trainings, and I started doing freelance training sessions for individuals. Individuals and the companies. And I stumbled upon, on the coaching part, thinking that this is one of the business ventures I could opt for. And by the time when I went through the process and I realized, oh my God, because I keep on studying, so I don't necessarily opt for the certification or I give exams, but I have gone through a lot of courses in my life. So I had— then I realized that I I had already gone through the child psychology entire thesis, it was already there with me. So it was very similar to that. And then from coaching came the public speaking and so on, then everything else started to just coming, you know, into reality. And from becoming a personal brand, and then I started focusing more on business brands because I realized Yes, people who are working for organizations, they need to definitely work on their personal brand. But personally, being a Punjabi, we have like a default line we have in our veins. Along with the blood, we have business and money running in us. So we definitely think on also creating more jobs for others, not just, you know, thinking about ourselves. We also want to create that line wherein we don't just earn money. The money rotates, you know, the money has to flow. Money is like water, okay? It's very essential part of your life. You need it. It's your lifeline, kind of important part. So let it flow, don't hold it. That's what I learned from my own family. My mother also did business, so that's what she taught me. She's like, let the money flow. You earn, you spend, you save, because your savings are also creating a ripple effect. When you contribute, when you do charity, again, let the money flow. And that's how it all started, and that's how BNL, you know, Brand Network Legacy— the reason I emphasize on legacy is because I want people to realize that they have to give away, they have to impart with all the knowledge that they have, some money also. Contribute, contribute in whatever manner you want to, but definitely give it back to society which has given you everything. So that's, that's how I've reached. Awesome.
That's, that's amazing and incredible journey, and I love the way you, uh, connected all the dots going from one to another to another, and that's all beautifully done.
