Don't apply to an easier major like Nordic Studies hoping to switch to engineering later. UC transfer policies block this backdoor entry, and you'll get stuck in sophomore year. Apply directly to the major you actually want.
Here is the single most expensive mistake I see every year. A student who really wants engineering strategically applies under a less competitive major, thinking they'll just switch later. Don't apply as a Nordic Studies major hoping to sneak into civil engineering sophomore year. It does not work like that. Apply for the thing you actually want. Don't try to backdoor your way in. So many people try, and then they find themselves stuck sophomore year.
