“Daniel McDavid: Faith Over Finance—Rebuild Credit & Confidence Biblically”

In this CJ Moneyway Show episode, host CJ Moneyway interviews Daniel McDavid, founder of Move Mountains Credit Repair. The conversation begins with Daniel’s personal testimony of homelessness with his father, how a prophetic encounter and a supportive partner motivated him to change his relationship with money, and how he came to view finances through a biblical lens. Daniel explains that money is a neutral tool and that fear of wealth stems from mis‑interpreted scripture, urging listeners to align their identity with God’s promises before managing finances. He outlines the practical steps he uses to repair credit: lowering credit‑card utilization, disputing inaccurate items using consumer‑law codes, and removing hard inquiries. He differentiates Move Mountains by offering a 90‑day money‑back guarantee, aggressive weekly dispute letters, and strict adherence to legal methods, contrasting this with illegal “quick‑fix” services. Daniel also details how he helps clients build business credit—forming an LLC, obtaining an EIN, opening a business bank account, and securing funding for ventures like Airbnb rentals. He shares success stories, such as a client earning $15,000 in her first month after taking his Business Ready Course, and describes his educational products (the Business Ready Course and the book Business Ready: Prepare for Success). Throughout, Daniel emphasizes mindset, identity, and faith as the foundation for financial freedom, and provides contact information (Instagram @danielmcDavid1, phone 949‑434‑0113, website). The episode closes with reflections on legacy, the transformative impact of moving mountains, and an invitation for future collaborations.

Today's story will remind you that faith still moves mountains. Welcome to the show today, my man, Daniel. How you doing, Dan?
I'm doing really good. Thank you for having me.
Oh man, thank you for coming on, man. You know what I'm saying? This nice, beautiful Saturday afternoon, man. Now, you know, I know you from LA and they say it never rains in California, man. But you know, I'm from the Northwest, man. I'm from the home of Michael Jackson, Gary, Indiana. So it get a little cold up here. You know what I'm saying? So we dealing with, uh, 70-degree weather today, but it's still chilly, a little chilly outside, man. So needless to say, man, I'm a little jealous of the weather that you guys keep year-round, man. So, so, damn, man, let me ask you, man, let's start at the bottom of the mountain. What moment made you say, I have to change my relationship with money?
That was when a woman came into my life and I realized that I was going to have to do things differently because I was able to handle things on my own.— you know, with my own income. But since she had came into my life, I recognized that I wanted to build a legacy. You know, I wanted to build something for our children and, as a matter of fact, our children's children. So I realized that I needed to make some changes. That was where it all began.
Yeah, you know, one thing I know about that too, man, and this is what I tell young people. So if any young people out there listening right now, man, listen to this. When I was in my 20s, Dan, and early 30s, I acted a fool, you know what I'm saying? Blew a lot of money, did a lot of things, got into a lot of situations as far as having kids. So with that comes child support and everything, so your pockets get a little dry. And then when I finally decided to settle down and get married to the woman that I had been knowing for 18 years, pockets wasn't right, you know what I'm saying? So when you getting ready to settle down and you want to, like you say, you want to raise that family and raise your kids do the right thing, man. You know, you can make some decisions when you younger that can hurt you when you get older and try to settle down and do something. So I'm glad that you, you know, saying that woman got you on the path, like, you know, hey, I want to make money not just for me or make a living for myself, man, but some generational wealth. That's why I got my man on the show today, today, so we could talk about that, man. So then let me ask you, man, before you became a founder, what was your reality? The 9-to-5 grind, the self-doubt, you know, tell us about that.
So before I started focusing on business, because this woman had came into my life, what I was doing was I was sharing the gospel. I had the opportunity to go to different churches and preach. I would talk about how the Lord had delivered me because I was actually— I had been homeless for 5 years. It was me and my father. We were on the street and I had to rely on God. God, He showed up. He made it where we were able to survive. We were able to live. Despite me being homeless, I would wake up out of the sleeping bag because we were sleeping on concrete. I would wake up and I would say, "Heavenly Father, today I want Jack in the Box or Burger King in the name of Jesus." And random people would come and give us exactly what we asked for every single day for an entire year. As crazy as that might sound, it's true. And then I was able to get into a shelter after that year. And in that shelter, I was able to graduate from high school. And then from there, that's where it kind of began. Well, I started to see like, Hey, you know what? I need to get better with understanding money. And the main thing I can say that I seen in my father was that he did not have a really good understanding of money. We were all about the things of the Lord, but in his mind, money was evil. It was bad, right? But what he did not fully understand is that money is not bad. The love of money is the root of all evil, according to scriptures, right? But in reality, the first time that prosperity and gold and, you know, abundance was mentioned was in Genesis chapter 13, verse 8, when God had blessed Abraham with silver, gold, and livestock as he was leaving out of Egypt, right? So what I'm getting at is that prosperity is for God's people, God's children, right? Because if we're saying that we represent God and we're, you know, broke in a bad financial situation and mental situation, how does that represent God very well? So as I started to see these things and make these connections, what's it called, I recognized that there had to be a change. And right before I was able to come to this change, something interesting had happened. I was preaching at a church one day, just sharing all the things that the Lord had did and done for me when I was on the street and how God just miraculously kept us alive despite the situation we were in. When I had finished sharing that, there was a gentleman called the Prophet of the House. This Prophet of the House, he came to me and he started prophesying. He started telling me that God was going to use me not just to help people spiritually in ministry, but that God was going to use me to help people financially, that God was going to use me to get people aligned, right, as far as their purpose, that people would actually understand how to utilize their talents. So because it looked like there's been a disconnect, like I mentioned with me seeing my father, He had a heart for the Lord, but when it came to money and finances, he didn't understand how to be a good steward, how to apply it correctly. So what I'm getting at is after he had shared that prophecy about me, I started thinking like, man, you know what, I need to see what I can do to be in a different position. And what I recognized is that it was my environment. I needed to be around other people because I was around Christians who were all about the Lord, you know, God, God, God, God, but no one ever talked about like, hey, like, how are we going to utilize our finances to glorify God on an even higher level? I've never heard anyone say anything like that. So that's when that came to me. So in a nutshell, before I started getting into this credit stuff and into business, I was just really focused on serving the Lord. And as a matter of fact, it says in Matthew 6:33, seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness so that all these things can be added to you. But what I was doing I was seeking only the Kingdom of God, which is incorrect. It says seek first. That means put God first in what you do. But there's a second, there's a third, there's a fourth thing that you should be seeking. And that right there is, like I said, you fulfilling your purpose here on this earth through your talent. That is being a good father or a mother to your children. This is being a good example to your community. These are the other things that we should also be seeking. But like I said, I was doing things out of order, to be honest with you.
I mean, you know, I'm listening to you, man. It's intriguing. You said something to start the conversation up when you said that you and your father was living in the car and everything. And then you said something too after that, to the point where you say that, I know that this may be hard to believe, but when you were saying that, I was thinking about the lady that had the sons, you know, in scripture, that had the sons and her husband died., and, uh, they was coming to collect the debt. And so she said, well, you know, look, all I got is a little bit of oil, you know what I'm saying? And so they told her— so the prophet told her to go in there, go around and go get all these, you know, vessels. And so they say she went and got all the vessels and everything, and then they started pouring the oil. Now, like you said, first it just started with a little, you know what I'm saying? It just started with a little bit of oil. And so to the point where she told her sons, well, give me some more vessels. They say, well, it is none. And so one thing that I got from that to say that if it was more vessels, it would have been more oil. So the things that God can do with a little can turn into a lot. And so after the vessels were filled, they say, well, go pay your debts off, go pay your debtors, and then you and your sons live off the rest. So when you say that, I know it's hard to believe, it may be to some folks, but those that know word, those that's been in the word, those that know scriptures, those that know these stories, we can relate on certain levels, you know what I'm saying? Because we know that God can do all things, man, you know what I'm saying? Regardless of where you at, regardless of where you been, you know what I'm saying? Like, like you said, I wasn't utilizing my talents, you know, just like the, the one story— I won't get into that right now, probably, we'll probably move on— but the one that buried his in the earth, you know, he buried his talents in the earth. And I tell people all the time, man, God gave us all talents, and we complaining and we looking for certain things in life. Like you say, seek ye first the kingdom of God and all his righteousness, you know what I'm saying? And all these things will be added unto you. And but we complain about all these things, man, but we buried the thing that God gave us to get to the point that we want to get to. We complain about that because we won't go back and unbury the talents that we hid, you know what I'm saying? So I get you, man. I'm with you, bro. So let me ask you, damn, man, Matter of fact, before I go any further, am I doing this wrong? Are you a pastor?
I wouldn't consider myself pastor. There's people who have said that about me, but no, what I am is like a preacher, like an evangelist specifically, where, you know, I would just go, I would give a testimony, share what God did in my life, and I had the opportunity to pray at different places. But in this current season, the Lord has had me really kind of slow down with going to different churches and praying and all that good stuff. He's had me kind of just focus on building something so that I can help people, like I said, financially. But here and there I've been reaching out to churches and letting them know about, you know, some of the financial aspects of what I do. And there's been a couple of individuals who have been excited to bring me on to different, you know, shows and kind of like what we're doing right now, podcasts, where I can go on ahead and inform the believers. But in a nutshell, Yeah, no, I'm not a pastor.
Okay, I just, I wanted to see was I pronouncing it wrong. I wanted to see if I need to put Pastor Daniel, you know what I'm saying, before that, put some respect on my name, man. So, uh, let me ask you, D, man, how did faith start to reshape the way you saw failure, debt, and discipline?
Well, it was so interesting because I used to look at faith as just like, like, only like spiritual. As far as, like I said, praying and hoping that I would get some food for the day or praying and hoping that, you know, maybe the application for the apartment or for the car went through or praying that someone would get delivered or set free from anxiety and depression. That's kind of how I viewed faith. But then I realized, like, business owners are utilizing faith every day because it takes faith to hope and believe that what you're doing you know, in secret. Now that you brought it out in the open, that it's gonna sell. Compared to going to a job, which is like, you know you're gonna get money, it's a guaranteed thing, it's easy. But being a business owner, it's not easy. You don't know if the money's gonna come or not. You just have to believe, you just have to have faith. And of course you have to market and do other stuff, you know, to help, you know, what you're doing. But in a nutshell, I hope that answers the question.
So, I mean, I see what you're saying as far as the faith part, because anybody that go into business, anybody that's doing, you know, saying you got to have faith that it's going to work out. It's just, I guess I see it as Daniel, as that a lot of us believe, but we have faith in different ways, you know what I'm saying? Because you got some shrewd managers or business owners, CEO, their faith is within themselves, you know what I'm saying? Like, you know, people think I was just reading something yesterday. It say that, you know, the heart, the despises, you know what I'm saying, the hardest, but it's God who directs our steps, you know what I'm saying. But we lean, it's lean not into thy own understanding. And a lot of times, you know, we do. And some people that even lean into their own understanding become successful, you know what I'm saying. They successful. So when you feel that way, you know, your faith is within you, you know, or You got wives that they faith is in they husbands, or they put they faith in they kids. So I'm just saying, you know, like we look at faith in a whole different realm than when you do when you looking at it in the spiritual realm, you see what I'm saying? So I know what you're saying, like it takes faith to do this and do that, but where's the faith really at though, you know what I'm saying? Is it in myself? Is it in the Lord? Is it, you know what I'm saying, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? So it's just different ways to look at it because people that's listening to this, a lot of people they may not have faith in God but have faith in other things, you know what I'm saying? And I see the point that you trying to get us to is that God is the foundation. So we go back to the scripture that you mentioned before: seek ye first the kingdom of God and all his righteousness, and all these things that we're looking for in life will be added unto us, you know. But a lot of us don't know that, man, you know what I'm saying? So I'm glad you're here today to drop some nuggets on us, man. So damn, let me ask you, man, when you launched Move Mountains— because they say if you have faith as a mustard seed, you could tell this mountain to be thy removed, just like it was that David did with Goliath, you know, the man with a slingshot, you know, straighten the forehead and then sucking his head. They said he cut his neck off, and so, uh, cut his head off. So When you launched Move Mountains, what was your vision? Freedom from debt or freedom from fear?
Well, my vision was based off of my own experience. So after I was able to make it out of that homeless shelter, I was trying to get a car. I remember that I had a good credit score. I had a credit score in the 700s. I had a 720, but for some reason I was getting denied, and by God's grace, because like I said, I was praying, there was one bank a couple days later after I had gotten denied by these other banks that said that they would be willing to give me a loan, but it was at a very high interest rate. And I was just trying to understand, like, how does this make any sense? Like, I had a good credit score, like I should have been good to go according to what I've been hearing in society, but The fact of the matter is there was a lot about credit that I did not know, I did not understand. In a nutshell, one of the key factors for me having my vision for Moving Mountains Credit Repair was after I got my credit repaired because I had some hard inquiries on my credit from different things that I had applied for, which was actually what made it difficult for me to get that car. I did not know that at the time. But I had gotten my credit repaired after I got connected to a buddy who was in business and he started helping me out. So I got my credit repaired, he was able to help me get my LLC created, get my EIN, my business bank account, and then I was able to get business funding. And then after I got business funding, I was able to get started in Airbnb. So shortly after being homeless, not too long ago, I was able to like all of a sudden be elevated and have my rental property in a whole other state. So it was just like, wow, like, this is amazing. And this was all when, like I said, that woman came into my life and I got motivated and God started opening up doors. Now it's just like, wow, like, this is amazing. So then I realized, like, you know what, I can help other people too. In the same way that I was able to get started in my Airbnb, I can help people get their credit repaired, I can help them create their LLC, get their EIN, and get their business bank account, and then get business funding. That's when the vision came to me. I was like, wow, you know what? Move Mountains Credit Repair. I was homeless and that mountain was removed. Now I'm in a completely different situation. God has blessed me with my wife. Now I got a property in Texas. I had never even been to Texas in my life, but look at what God has done. So that's when I seen like, you know what, I need to help other people. I need to help other individuals just like that man of God, just like that prophet prophesied. I'mma do it. And since then That's what I've been doing, and I got started by helping the people that were around me. And then I seen like, you know what, let me get really serious about this. Let me get really intentional. And then that's when I started creating my logo, my brand, getting everything together. And now I've been helping individuals all over the US. So yes, I hope that answered the question.
Oh man, you know, like I say, man, I'm listening, you know, because I want to, you know, not being a business owner, entrepreneur, whatnot, I want to get in. On this, how you get this business funding. Because like you said, took me a while to learn about my credit, you know what I'm saying, or whatever. Finally got it up and, you know, I applied for some credit cards here and there. But like you said, you know, getting down, like, wait a minute, I got my credit score up to like, I think the highest it got was like 736, you know what I'm saying. And that, we talking somebody that came from 5-something, you know. And I'm like, well, hey, why am I getting denied for credit in this net? But like you said, it's the hard inquiries. And so now I don't even want to apply for nothing, you know what I'm saying. The business credit, you know what I'm saying, business credit and this and that, you know, I get all the people on here, so I got tons of information. But, you know, I'm just listening to you, and everything is in God's time, you know what I'm saying? And so, like, I'm not rushing nothing, you know. I'm listening to people like you, and I'm just putting all these tools in my toolbox because when it's time to go, like you said, the elevation, you know what I'm saying? You got to be ready when that elevation come to, you know what I'm saying? You got to be ready because you say, oh, you— this is what you want? You sure this is what you want? You better start. You gotta start preparing now for your future, you know what I'm saying? Even when you can't see, when you can't see it, when it's not there, start preparing. So when the door open, I'll be able to walk through that door. Because if the door open and I'm not prepared to go through the door when that door open, then guess what? I'm still gonna be in the same place that I was at, you know what I'm saying? Because I wasn't prepared to go through. I wasn't prepared. I didn't prepare myself. And God, when God started moving Like you said, I went from being homeless not long— I got an Airbnb in another state, you know what I'm saying? My whole financial situation in time. And I'm gonna leave it on this, D. You said something that made me think about this. You said, when I found this woman, when this lady came into my life, and then you mentioned, you know, that you was married. I was gonna ask you, did you marry this lady? 2009, I got married. And I, you know how we do a speech or whatnot And so I say, I got up and I did my speech, and I used the verse, he who finds a wife finds a good thing. And you know what it talks about, the marriage bed is not defiled and things of that nature. But in the end, they say, and he obtains favor from the Lord. And I know we know that scripture, you know, he who finds a wife finds a good thing, but I don't think that a lot of us have walked into the favor part of it, not knowing that, man, when God say that when you find a good thing, a wife, a woman that cares for your wife, that's going to be supportive, things of that nature, you obtain favor from the Lord. And I don't think a lot of us are walking in that favor, man, you know what I'm saying? We— I just got married because, you know, I love her, but not— that's a whole nother story. That's, that's a relationship podcast right there, man, you know what I'm saying? We talk about that on another level. But let me ask you, man, For someone listening right now, you know, like I was saying, like with me, with a 520 credit score and no hope, what's the first practical step to rebuilding?
The first practical step I would say would be to try to lower their utilization on their credit cards. As far as like bringing that down, that's one of the things that you can control. But as far as if you have collections, if you have a bankruptcy, if you have charge-offs, if you have student loans, if you have even child support, a lot of times it'll show up on a person's credit profile, then what you need at that point is credit repair because that's what's going to be the thing that gets that— those negative items removed. Most people don't really understand credit, but in reality, Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax, they can't have stuff on your credit profile without your permission. So that's why people like me, since I'm a credit repair agency, a company, what's it called, that's how we're able to legally get negative items removed from a person's credit profile. We use something called the consumer law codes, right? So we use the law, we bring these laws to their attention, Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax, through dispute letters. And after they see this information, they understand like, oh, you know what, This person knows the law, they know what's going on, so we have to stop. We have to get rid of this stuff because legally speaking, they did not get a person's permission to be broadcasting to everybody in the world that you have a bankruptcy, or broadcasting to everybody in the world that you have child support that you're not paying, right? Because that's just going to defame you and make you look like you're no good, you know, if you're trying to get a job or trying to get an apartment. And that's not ethical. Okay, so that's what I would say. I would say focus on utilization, and then if you've done that and you feel like you're ready to move on to the next step and really focus on your credit and invest in yourself, then I would recommend getting started with credit repair for sure.
So let me ask you this, Dan, man, before we go any farther with that, because I've used credit repair before, and like you say, they send out the letters on your behalf and, you know, then they send you updates on, you know, this and that, but then a lot of times experience in places like that, they don't respond back or it takes forever, you know what I'm saying? Or, and you just paying what, $150, $99 a month for sometimes things that don't seem like it's really getting done. So my question is, what makes Move Mountains Credit Repair different from any other credit repair people that's claiming that they can remove credit, repair your credit scores?
Well, I would say first and foremost, We're faith-based, all right? So I'm the CEO of this company and I have a 90-day money-back guarantee. If a person does not see any changes on their credit profile within 90 days, I will personally give them their money back because that's how much I believe in what we're doing and that it is going to work for you. Because I'm not trying to just give people their money back, that would just be a waste of time. So, you know, so I know for sure that what we're going to be doing on a person's credit profile is going to work. So I would say that's the main difference that, what's it called, like I said, we have a 90-day money-back guarantee, and my team really knows what they're doing. And here's what I'll share with you, because I have a lot of clients that come to me and they tell me that they're with another credit repair agency and it took them like a year, 2 years, and they haven't seen any results, but they're paying their money. Based off of these individuals that I've worked with, they've told me that the difference between my company and other companies is that we're a lot more aggressive So what that means is once a person gets started in credit repair, they're going to be receiving letters in the mail. The gentleman was telling me that when he was working with a different credit repair agency, he would only get letters here and there throughout the months as he was going on. But he said once he started working with me, he started getting letters from Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax like every other week. He would get letters telling him like, hey, is this you disputing? Is this you? Sending these letters, and that's a good thing because that right there means not only are they receiving the letters and responding, but it means that they're going to be moving the stuff off quicker. As like I said, it just shows that we're a lot more aggressive. So that if there's a main difference, I would say, between me and some of the other credit repair agencies based off what my clients have told me, I would say it's the aggressiveness of how quickly we're able to get these bureaus to respond and start making changes. And actually, I would say usually a person is done within 4 to 6 months. It could be a lot quicker. I always like to give it more time. Could be a lot quicker, but I would say 4 to 6 months. I give that time frame because what we do that's also different than other credit repair agencies is we follow the law. We do everything 100%. So there is ways to get a person's credit repaired a lot quicker. I'm talking like 7 days, 14 days. A lot of the things that they're doing, like their approach, their ways are illegal. So if you ever see that, if you ever see someone talking about, oh, 7-day credit repair, 14-day credit repair, just know that what they're utilizing in those letters is illegal. Usually what they'll say is that a person has been, uh, sex trafficked. That's what they'll say to try to get this stuff off a person's credit profile, but that's not really what happened, and that's not ethical or legal. What we do is we just use the law and we let the bureaus know that there is inaccurate, outdated information and that the client has not complied, that they did not agree or consent to have this information on their credit profile. But since it's the, you know, the right way, it takes a little bit longer. You could take a shortcut and get to where you're trying to get to quicker, or you could do it the right way and not worry, because a lot of times when people do it The quick way, what ends up happening is the things that they got off their credit profile, they might come back. Like, there's like a 50/50 chance that it might come back later on down the line. So that—

That's why it's better not to do it the quick way and to just wait it out, 'cause the wait is not as bad is waiting 2 years, 4 years, and for bankruptcy, 11 years. It's just a couple of months, but at least you know you did it the right way. So that's the main difference between Move Mountains Credit Repair and some of these other credit repair agencies.
So let me ask you, man, and shout out to my girl Robin Credit Repair. No knock on you, Robin, because you did a good job. Because let me ask you this, man, because I think sometimes we get a little confused with certain things, you know, because I was getting these letters too, as you mentioned, you know, beforehand that you get these letters and they ask it, you know, is this you, that you, you know what I'm saying, asked about this. Then, you know, then a lot of times you get the dashboard, then you get to, you know what I'm saying, dispute like your address and things of that nature. Did you live here? Did you live there? So my question to you is, for— so when we do get a letter like that, you know what I'm saying, but I think that's where a lot of people might get stuck at. Where do we go from there? You know what I'm saying? I'm getting these letters, how do I respond back to them? Or do they respond to you? Do y'all take care of that? Like when you get a letter, You know, saying, do you like scan it and then upload it to you? Then y'all take care of that. How do that work from a person on my end that, you know, saying once we do get that letter, don't know what to do with it, or we reach out to the credit repair person, you know what I'm saying, and, and, or whatnot. What do we have to do on our end in order for this to get rectified?
So to be honest with you, a person has two options. One, they could try to upload it to, uh, the portal, and, uh, usually the team— because I have a credit repair team behind me my team, what they will do is they will try to utilize that as evidence because again, them sending you letters and a lot of times the information on the letters, it's illegal, right? They're usually trying to pressure people and to scare them. So a lot of times those letters is just more ammo. But in reality, like I said, whether a person scans those documents or not and uploads them to the portal, The stuff is going to get removed regardless. So a lot of times I tell my clients to just disregard those letters. They don't have to worry about them, mainly because like I said, it's, it's already gonna come off.
Okay. Yeah, you know, because I dealt with, with a few things too. And then something about— I don't know if this is with the credit repair thing, but you know, then they ask for a power of attorney, you know what I'm saying? When somebody else supposed to be taking care of what's going on, like say like I got you taking care of what's going on with me, so you actually my power of attorney. But then you'll have these companies emailing or texting you or sending you letters, you know, trying to, you know, clarify your power of attorney. Well, I don't know nothing about how to, you know, do forms for power of attorney and things of that nature. So like I said, a lot of, a lot of times it can get confusing. That's why I'm confused, and that's why I'm asking you to, you know, say, to clear some of this up for some of us, you know what I'm saying? That's behind the 8-ball on this. But let me ask you, uh, Dan, man, so your credit mountain— Move Mountain Credit Repair— is it just in California? Is it online? How can people get in contact with you? How can we find out this information and get to work with you?
So, uh, person can find me on Instagram. Uh, my name on Instagram is Daniel McDavid1. Uh, and then when it comes to, uh online. I do have a website, um, what's it called? And I— let me see, I don't know if I would be able to put it up here, but I do have a website. But if they really wanted to get a hold of me, what they could do, they could reach out to this number right here, 949-434-0113. They can reach out to that number right there, 949 434-0113, and then I will, uh, now reach out to them and we will get you connected with our team.
Okay, okay. So, so let me ask you, D-Man, how do you teach people to manage money not from fear but from faith?
Well, you mean, uh, for them to change their mindset about money?
Yeah, like how you said, like how you thought about your father, you know, your father, you don't think that he was really, you know what I'm saying, into What it say, that he who, you know, said not faithful over small things, you know what I'm saying, we can't get the big things. So how would you, you know what I'm saying, how do you manage? How do you teach people on that level?
Well, I would say the main thing that the people need to understand is that money is not bad. They need to understand that money It's a vehicle. It's just a way to do something. All money really is is a mirror, right? So once we see it like that, like it's just a mirror, it's either going to reveal what's good in you or it's going to reveal what's bad in you. It's going to reveal if you have good fruit or if you have bad fruit, as it says in the Word of God. It's gonna just show you what kind of tree, what kind of person you really are. And I would say if they have that fear, I usually start with where the lie is. Like I said, for my father, the lie was that, you know, him doing any transactions or him trying to want money was him saying that he wanted to be in the world. Because it says in James 4:4 that friend of the world is enemy of the Lord. So in his mind, he was thinking like, okay, so if I'm trying to utilize this money, if I'm actually trying to do business, I'm participating in the activities that are in the world. But like I said, the gold is for God's people. So like I said, that's how I would come against that lie. The gold, like it says in, uh, the word of God, the wealth of the wicked is laid up for the righteous.
Yeah.
Right. So it's like, so since we understand this, or since the Word of God says this, we should understand like, hey, you know what? The main thing I would really say, it would depend on if I'm talking to an unbeliever or a believer, right? That'd be the first thing. But usually when I'm talking to a believer who just doesn't have a good understanding, I share with them what it says in 3 John 2, that it says, "Beloved, I want you to prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers," meaning that God wants us to know our identity before we start operating on a high level financially. Because if we don't know our identity, we end up being like the prodigal son who didn't know who he was. He took the money from his father, went to a different land, wasted the money, and then he came back to his father. But his father accepted him. His father received him. But if the son knew who he was from the beginning, instead of him going out and wasting the money, he could have took that money and he could have built— he could have built something. He could have created something that could have helped other people. But since he didn't know his identity, he did what he did with it. Used it all for himself instead of using it, like I said, to really make a change, really make an impact. So in a nutshell, I would say like, person really has to be secure in understanding their identity as far as who they are in the Lord first before trying to operate financially. Ask yourself, why do you want the money, right? Okay, you get the $50,000 at 0% interest for 12 months, and then what? What are you gonna do with it? What are your goals, right? Like, that would be the first question that I ask people. And as a matter of fact, I do have a course. I call it the Business Ready Course. Now in this course, I go over just that, right? I go over what is needed for a person to get started in business. A lot of times people want to get started in business, but they're not even handling their business, if you know what I'm talking about. They got their personal finances mismanaged, but it's like you're saying you want more to manage, or I should say more to mismanage. I don't think that that's a good idea, and that's why in that course I go over strategies and ways if they're not the best with money, how they can improve with money. And then I also have a book called Business Ready: Prepare for Success— Everything You Must Know and Do Before You Start Your Business. This book is on Amazon. I have an audiobook, it's an ebook, and it's a physical book if you want to order it. It's only $9 as an ebook, I think $19 as a physical book, and on Audible it says that it's zero for a period of time because there's a free trial. But In a nutshell, these would be the main areas that I would start with. Like I said, helping an individual try to understand when it comes to money, they'd have to understand their goals and really understand what's in their own heart before trying to get a mirror that's going to expose their heart on a higher level.
I like it, man. I even like— I like the Prodigal's son too. And you know what you were saying, and I was thinking about this, he did use it for other people, you know what I'm saying? He went out and was partying with equivalent to today's society in strip clubs or going out to the club, partying or doing whatever. But once the money was gone, everybody was gone. You know what I'm saying? Everybody was by itself. And so that's how a lot of us live a lot of times. Instead of doing something, as you say, righteous and good for the people that can build people up, we can go out there and just waste money and we got all the friends in the world. I mean, I look at some of these athletes that did that, Antoine Walker, when, you know, he's playing for the Boston Celtics back in the day, just buying cars, spending it all on his friends, this and that. They say once the money gone, your so-called friends gone, you know what I'm saying? That put me in the mind of the prodigal son. But luckily, just like your father had a loving son, and just like how you had a loving dad, just like that prodigal son, good thing he had a father who had a heart for his, you know what I'm saying, for his kids, man. So when he came back to him It wasn't no questions, it wasn't this and that. Hey, let's just move on. And I think that's how we got to be in life too, uh, D, man. You know, we're gonna take some hits, man. You're gonna go through some trials, you're gonna go through some tribulations, you're gonna make some mistakes, you know what I'm saying? But you can't count that against us because God don't, man. Because look at— not saying that you got into a lot of stuff, man, but look what God brought you from into where he got you at now, you know what I'm saying? And so all we could do is say thank you, Jesus. Yes, we said Jesus on the CJ Moneyway Show, not ashamed. Of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Hey, so let me ask you, D, I only got a couple more questions for you, man. When your clients finally reach freedom, what's that moment like for you?
Man, it always feels like I did it. Like, you know, God, he told me, like I said, you know, through that man of God, and he opened up the doors, and it just feels like I'm fulfilling what I'm supposed to be doing. Like, this is why I'm here, you know, to help other individuals get into their purpose, get into their calling. But before I could do that, I just had to be fully secure in myself as far as— like I said, I was doing things out of order before, so I had to first get in alignment. I had to do things in order as far as understanding, like, yes, God first, then there's my business, right? And then there's helping individuals in the community. But I just had to get in alignment. So in a nutshell, every time I see that they the individual succeed. Matter of fact, you just made me think about one of the first students that I had. She had gotten her credit repaired, she had gotten her LLC created after taking my course and learning all the details. Because a lot of times, outside of people managing their money, they don't even really know what an LLC is. They don't know the different— what's it called— entities. Yeah, like, okay, they could be an S corp, a C corp, but what does that mean and how can that help or hurt you if you don't know what you're doing. So after she took that course, in her first month of doing business— and I'm not saying everyone is going to do this, but this was just how motivated she was— in her first month of business, she made $15,000, which blew my mind because when I got started, I didn't make that much. I was like, man, she did better than me. I was like, wow, she applied what I had learned better than I applied it. So Yeah, in a nutshell, it always feels amazing. It really does.
So that's why they're like, hey, uh, hey, Missy, that course that I gave you that was for free or for $19 or for $99.99, I need a little payback from that. You took my lessons and did them better than me. But I tell you what, you know, just by you saying that and still got that on your mind, I bet you took that and said, you know what, I'm gonna take what I know and even do it better than what I did. I did it, you know what I'm saying? Because look where you're at now. I want to own me an Airbnb, man. I mean, I want to be like D-Mac, man. I want to own me an Airbnb, man. So, so, D-Mac, my final question for you, man. Let me ask you, what legacy do you hope Move Mountains leave, not just in business but in belief?
I would say the legacy that I would like to leave in belief is that having faith, believing, and investing in yourself, right, is going to be the defining factor in your life. Like, I want it to be known that a person can live their life by design. They can make these changes as long as they change their focus on what they're pursuing. Like it says in Matthew 7:7, "Ask and you shall receive, seek and you'll find, knock and it will be opened to you." So I want Move Mountains to be that door. I want it to be the place that people can knock on and it could be just a place that transforms them. So I would like this to be just a place that is known for changing lives, known for not only changing a person's credit, but like, for this to mean that they've become a whole nother person. The old things have passed away and all things have become new, right? Just like on their credit, a lot of times what's holding a person back as far as why they can't move forward, why they can't get their apartment, is because of the things they did in the past is still on their credit. So I want it to be known, like, hey, like, once these things get washed, once these things get cleansed, right? These mountains that were in front of us are now gonna be removed because there's nothing from the past that's holding us back. I should say condemning us. There's nothing condemning us for the things we did in the past, but now we're set free. We're able to walk into newness and actually know that there's been a second chance. So in a nutshell, I would like Move Mountains Credit Repair to be known as a second chance. Like, you've been transformed and now you get to do something. You get to do something powerful. You get to make an impact. You get to be a blessing. I would like Move Mountains Credit Repair to be known for that, in a nutshell.
In a nutshell, man, moving mountains. AD, man, before I let you go, just gotta ask you, give us one thing, man, one thing that's on your heart that you'd like to share with the audience, man, before we get out of here.
One thing, okay, I would say the main thing that I would have to say would be a person's mindset. It all comes down to a person's mindset. If you think that a score on Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion can define you, there's some work that needs to be done internally. All right, so I just want people to be aware that external situations does not define who they are inwardly. Like I said, when I was on the street, I was in an external situation and people would look at me like I was trash, look at me like I was homeless, but I had to see past that. I had to see the identity that God said about me and not look at what people were saying about me and how they viewed me. So in like manner, I would say that a person just needs to change you know, how they have viewed themselves and see themselves as that person who is successful, see themselves as that business owner if they do want to start a business, see themselves as that person who is debt-free, that person who can handle multiple things and not get, what's it called, overwhelmed, not get, you know, confused. They need to see themselves inwardly before they can start to tap into it outwardly. So I would just share that, you know, to just, you know, really get clear on who you are and your identity apart from who your credit says you are and who even maybe your parents have said you are. You know, who do you want to be, right? Like, what do you want to be? And most importantly, how can you get there? Those would be the questions that I would just encourage the audience to be asking themselves. Yes.
You know, Daniel, you made me think about something when you were talking about people was looking at you like you was homeless, you know, but you had to look past that. And I'm just gonna put it out here like this, man. Sometime next year, I want to do a segment like I'm doing in November. Uh, I got 8 men, you included. I'm putting this out this November because it's gonna be Black History Month in November. I've got 8 strong Black men with testimonies that I'm doing in November, but I want to do something again, you know what I'm saying, with what you just said. Let's go beyond the business, let's go beyond the credit repair, and you know what I'm saying, and just talk life, you know what I'm saying? Just talk life, because there's depths to certain things in our lives that got us to the point that we got to, you know what I'm saying? And so sometime next year, man, I set that up. I would hope that you would take my olive branch, man, and join me on the Money Well You Know again, man, for another spectacular man. Appreciate you coming on. What a powerful conversation with my man Daniel McDavid, reminding us that true credit isn't about numbers, it's about truth, discipline, and faith. If this episode spoke to your spirit, which I know that we said a lot of words, and my man, he can break off scriptures— John 4:13. Uh, I know scripture, but I don't know— I can't go to the James 4:4, you know what I'm saying? I can't do that. But I know scripture, but My man David got it down pat. So if this episode spoke to your spirit, share it with someone who's ready to rebuild their foundation brick by brick.
