A leader explains why he ditches the idea of balance for prioritization. His daily routine includes meditation, prayer, affirmations, and a book each week. He says mental clarity is essential to mentor and coach others effectively.
I don't balance, I prioritize.
So let me ask you, uh, how do you balance personal wellness while leading multiple platforms and initiatives?
Yes, meditation. Meditation and prayer. And just recently I start— I'm doing a book a week. That's my thing. I had to travel to New York here recently, so I was unable to— like, I kind of got off a little bit. So now I'm doing— I'm a week behind, but I'm on the same book. So just really clearing my head, clearing my mind, because if I'm not— if I'm not where I need to be mentally, then how can I inspire someone else? So for me and the ladies that I coach, you know, I have to really work on that hard. Like, that's putting in work. When it comes to balance, I like to say balance is just a word that people like to sound like really, really good. I don't balance, I prioritize. So because if I'm not where I need to be, I, I'm no good to nobody. Not even you having this, having this call, you know. If I didn't wake up and do my meditation, if I didn't wake up and just speak my affirmations and pray, you know, and just get myself really aligned with the day because I know that my day is going to be amazing, then I wouldn't be good for any— anybody, you know.
