Curt Janzen explains that millionaires spend less than they earn and invest in assets with long-term returns. He uses attic insulation as an example: it's a one-time investment that cuts heating costs by preventing warm air from escaping, with no maintenance required after installation.

We were asked, how do you become a millionaire? And let me tell you, the number one tip to becoming a millionaire is don't listen to people that only have one suggestion on how to become a millionaire. Hi, my name is Curt, and I'm with Beyond Group of Companies. For me, I would say, you know what, millionaires that I know, they just spend less money than they make. They invest in things that are gonna give them long-term return on their investment. And one of the things that we love to do here at Beyond is sell people great insulation. So you're not heating Alberta anymore. You're actually taking that money that you used to spend in your energy bill and you're putting it or keeping it in your back pocket. And that's one great way to accumulate a little bit of wealth and be comfortable all at the same time. Insulating your attic is a great long-term investment because you do it once and it lasts for a very long time. And it's one of those things that when you put it in, you never have to get it repaired. You don't ever have to bring a maintenance guy in. You're just not going to break down. And so So once it's in there, it's in there for, like I said, a long period of time. If you don't have great attic insulation, well, it's kind of like walking around outside without a toque on. You're just going to be cold. Your whole body gets cold. And so we want to stop that hot air from rising, getting up, because when it gets up, it gets out. And the more that that hot air leaves your house, the more your furnace has to kick in, which costs you more money on your gas bill month over month over month.
