James Mayfield - Customer Success Story

James Mayfield, owner of Mayfield Renovations Limited, has used Beyond Foam spray insulation on over 100 projects since 1976. He credits it with creating airtight seals and improving energy efficiency, and describes how it prevented ice intrusion in his own basement renovation in Black Diamond.
And so how many projects do you think we've done, you've done with Beyond using spray foam?
I would say at least 100, maybe more. So for at least 100 projects. My name is James Mayfield. My company is Mayfield Renovations Limited, and I've been using Beyond Foam since 2005.
The first time you used spray foam, How was it? What was it for? And what was the product like? What'd you think of it?
The first time was 1976. I lived in Illinois, had a small little old house, and they explained to me to drill a hole outside of— between the studs, which I didn't know anything about construction at that time. I was a produce man. And so I did that, and it just made the house different overnight. From then on, I was always sold with spray foam. I used it in every job.
Do you think the product's the same now as it was back then?
No, it's much better quality. Like all technology, you know, it just keeps increasing, and I'm just, I'm a real fan of spray foam.
We're working on your project, your own personal project. You retired. Tell us about that.
Yeah, I bought a property out by Black Diamond, and it's an older house, and We got it because it was run down, and I, I've done renovations for 40 years, and so that's how we got the property, and I've been doing lots of work. Now I'm fixing the basement and gonna spray foam and make sure all the joist ends are done. That stops some ice from coming in. We did that for lots of customers' houses, and it changed it overnight.
Why is spray foam something that you use every time?
I, I would always upsell to my customers and Had customers, they came to me by referral, so they trusted me. And so I would just explain how it seals the house, there's no air moving in and out. And also one of the things, like if you look at footage in the States where there's been tornadoes, there'll be one house standing and the rest are gone. Found out it was spray foamed. So it ties everything together, like glues everything together, and just stops that initial movement in a tornado. Which that movement then can make the whole house go.
So how did you meet Beyond?
I don't remember, I don't remember how we met, but I, from the first job, I just loved their service and their integrity, and they were always really fair and did a good job.
