Spray Foam Insulation Review Calgary - Jeremy (contractor)

Contractor Jeremy explains why spray foam beats traditional insulation in Calgary homes. After one installation, a client set the thermostat to 15°C in early March and the furnace never kicked on. Spray foam reaches cavities batts can't, like cantilever and rim joists, sealing them completely.

When we're doing the homes themselves, just looking at the product itself once it's installed is way better just from an aesthetic perspective, never mind just the comfort and feel that you get as soon as the product is actually installed, right? So it's like an immediate impact to the home compared to other homes that we used to do with batt and poly where you look at it and it doesn't look great and the feeling inside the house isn't the same. Immediately, right? A client that we just finished up, actually, they have had their thermostat set to 15 degrees, and basically it hasn't moved since they've set the thermostat to 15 degrees. So that's a bonus from their perspective because basically the furnaces have not come on once since we finished the project, and that was in early March. So he's really happy with that aspect because they have not kicked on at all. Very important for the clients. They're looking for long-term solutions, not short-term, so, and not just the cosmetic things that they see within the houses. One of the big things that they all refer to is having an energy-efficient home, and the biggest way of doing that is the insulation factor within the home. They're more worried about their own personal consumption with respect to whether it's the grid or natural gas or whatever it is, so they're making investment in products such as spray foam, that will enable them to reduce their reliance on the grid. So whether it's electrical, natural gas, whatever the case may be, but they're willing to make the investment in those products. Just peace of mind from their perspective that they don't have to worry about relying on the grid as much. There's some older homes that have some tricky areas with respect to cantilevers or rim joist locations where you might have a joist, floor joist that comes up and it's really pretty much parallel to where the rim or the cantilever is, and so you can't You can't get anything in there the old way with batts, trying to stuff some batts in there, right? So a lot of times we've, you know, drilled some holes through the joists, right, and then actually injected and sprayed in that way and basically filled up the cavity until it was pouring out whatever pour-offs there was in that case, right? So we know that you've done the job, it's filled the cavity complete, and peace of mind that it's not going to be an issue thermally in the future.
