Here's one somatic way to know that you're on your way out of active meth use: when your body gets cold and shakes almost violently when you begin making plans to party. When using meth is just something you do and you're okay with it at your core, your body feels aligned because it isn't a lie. I want to go get fucked up right now, and the body says, yeah, you do. When you know in your heart that using meth isn't a part of your identity anymore and you've made a decision to stop, then when you are on the phone making the plan, in the shower to prep, then on the way to the party session, your body will revolt. It will shake. I used to shake so hard that I could barely type on my phone, just like this. You'll be freezing too because the blood has left your extremities. You are now in a flight or fight mode because what you are doing is a lie, a direct assault on your identity, a total contradiction to the person you want to be. So if this is happening to you, take it as a good sign. Meth's clock is ticking.
