A person in recovery from crystal use and chemsex describes early sobriety as a temporary regrouping phase, not a permanent state. You step back to work on yourself, rebuild boundaries and strength, then return to life more empowered. Each stage passes.

This, I like to describe recovery as like a process of like stepping stones. So like nothing is forever. Yeah. People have this like forever mentality with recovery. It's really just a stepping stone. And I've been working with this. I wanted to actually like make a video about this. Just came to me this morning of like sort of like the usual steps in recovery. We'll call it crystal and chemsex recovery. And I think the first step really is like exerting a high level of control. It's almost like a regrouping phase. And that regrouping phase doesn't last forever. It just lasts for as long as it needs to until you can regroup sufficiently to now reenter. You sort of regrouped, you do the work on yourself, and now you can sort of reenter in a much more powerful, empowered place with strong boundaries. So yeah, it's not forever, but for the early part, you really do have to exert that kind of level of control, in my opinion.
