Dani Peleva tells new franchisors to hire A-players for operations, marketing, and franchise development instead of doing everything themselves. Use her "ladder" method: keep high-revenue tasks, outsource the rest. If you can't afford a full team yet, hire freelancers or agencies for part-time help.

I think the core principle of being a good franchisor, especially if you're starting out now, is to learn how to delegate and to build an amazing corporate team of A-players for yourself. Because even if you were a solo entrepreneur and you were very successful back in the days, being a franchisor would mean that you would have to wear a completely new hat and you would also have a lot of new tasks and responsibilities. So having the right team next to you, whether that's going to be for operations, marketing, or franchise development, is crucial to your success. And learning how to delegate and not relying entirely on you will actually expedite your success. So thinking about not doing it all and figuring out what should I prioritize and do myself and what can I delegate or outsource to a team is crucial. In my book, Franchise Fame, I give a few examples on how you can prioritize daily tasks and how you can use the ladder approach where you draw a ladder and on the top of the ladder you have the things that are super high priority and are going to be very, very useful for the business and they're going to impact revenue and performance. And this is something that you retain for yourself and you do. And at the bottom of the ladder, you would have things that are not that that's directly impactful to the business but are still important to be done. And you can outsource those to your team. But even before you have a team yourself, you might wonder, okay, I only have this one location and I'm just starting out. I don't have the resources for a team. I can't afford to hire people for my corporate team. And that's absolutely fine. You can also work with freelancers, you can hire an agency, you can have someone for 4 hours a day that helps you as well. But just get out of the habit of doing it all by yourself and make sure that you think and prioritize well about what you can do that has a direct impact to revenue, importance of the business, relationship building with your franchisees, and what you can outsource that's also very important but it's more operational. And doesn't have direct impact on revenue performance of the business, but it still has to be done. So if you like this tip and this type of content, follow me for more. Maybe part 2 where I'm going to discuss how to choose between a freelancer and an agency because I get asked this quite often. Thank you.
