Google Business Profiles only show up in searches for your actual location, not nearby cities or regions. A business in a small Minnesota town won't appear in metro area results, no matter what. Use Google Ads or Meta Ads instead to reach customers willing to travel far.

Dear franchisees, local business owners, opportunists, dreamers, welcome to today's episode when I'm gonna break your dreams into pieces and tell you that unless your Google Business Profile is exactly in the area you'd like to service and appear for, there is no chance for you to rank there. I still have a lot of correspondence and conversations with franchisees who believe that being 50 miles away from the area that they service and calling themselves franchisees for that area is a good idea. Unfortunately, it isn't. Let's take Minnesota for example. If your business is located here, there is no chance for your business to appear in searches here. No chance. The same goes for if your business is located here and you start— want to start ranking for inquiries here. Forget about it. You can either relocate your business if you'd like to get inquiries from Minnesota, which is the metropolitan area and has a lot more search, or you just have to accept the idea that if you're based in any of these smaller towns and cities, you are not going to appear for searches in Minnesota. Google Business Profiles only work on the basis of your location, and if you're not in near proximity to the local area that you want to appear in and capture those searches from, you're not going to rank. This is why businesses that are in the metropolitan area are always going to be preferred over your business that's 20, 30, or 50 miles away. And if your service is this good and people are willing to drive for 50 miles to use your services, worry not. It's just that Google Business Profile is not your channel. You can attract clients from the metropolitan area through advertising there via Google Ads, Meta Ads, or local service ads, but not relying entirely on your Google Business profile. I'm linking another video regarding Google Business Profile optimization and tips and what it can and can't do. If you find it useful, let me know.
