In this spoken monologue, the speaker—an avid football fan and former player—draws a parallel between the excitement of being selected for a national football team during the FIFA World Cup and the process of choosing franchise candidates. He argues that franchisors should make prospective franchisees feel specially chosen, emphasizing gratitude and honor, while selecting candidates based on how well they fit the brand’s system rather than individual ego or talent. The speaker stresses that both football and franchising demand system‑fit, humility, and a willingness to represent the brand’s logo. He concludes with a call to action, inviting viewers to like and comment for more football‑franchising analogies.

I woke up with the following idea. You know, it's FIFA World Cup right now and we're having this feast of amazing football games. Me, as a football fanatic and once a football player, I'm following every single game and I had an idea. I was thinking, you know how franchise development is so similar to getting called in the national team? Almost like, imagine the gratitude and the fulfillment a football player feels when they get that call from the national selection and they're told that they need to represent their country. Imagine how, how they feel, how special they feel, especially in the UK or Spain or Portugal or France, countries that have amazing leagues with amazing competitive footballers. So if you are one of those shortlisted candidates and you get the call and you're told that you've got this amazing opportunity to to represent the country, you feel chosen. This is how your franchise candidates should feel like as well. They should feel special and picked out of a bunch of candidates. They should feel that your franchise brand entrusts them with the benefits of following the system and being successful. They should feel awarded with the unique opportunity to represent your brand, and they should be grateful. You as a franchisor are the selectioner, and you have a tough choice to weave out and sift through a bunch of candidates and make sure that you choose those very few chosen ones that match the system. There's no place for egos. You don't select a player or a future franchisee based on how amazing individually they are. You pick them based on how well they fit the system. Because football and franchising are not for people with big egos. They are for people that fit the system, follow the system, and will be successful with the brand or the country's logo that they will be representing. If you like more football analogies like these, make sure you drop me a like and a comment, and I'll keep thinking about football and franchising and be posting videos like that.
