In this advisory YouTube video, speaker Dani Peleva admonishes local business owners and franchisees who attempt to market with only $200–$300 per month, warning that such a budget is insufficient and will likely lead to failure. She outlines a recommended minimum monthly marketing spend of roughly $3,000, breaking it down into four key components: Local Services Ads (LSA) at $800–$1,000, investment in local SEO and a well‑optimized Google Business Profile, paid advertising on Google and Meta at $1,000–$1,500 (depending on whether one or both channels are used), and offline promotional materials such as brochures and banners. Peleva stresses that relying solely on a franchisor for leads is unrealistic without adequate visibility, and she concludes with a call to subscribe for more franchise marketing advice.

I'm just so sick of having these conversations with business owners that tell me, I've got $300 per month, what can you do with this? This is not serious. If you're starting a business and you only have $200-300 per month for marketing that business, you better shut down right away. When you're starting out the business, a local business or a franchise for that matter, you need to prepare for spending on marketing. If you spend the majority of your budget on the franchising fee, the setup, the opening the location and whatnot, and you don't have any budget for marketing, or you have a couple of hundred dollars for marketing, you will fail. Here's a little breakdown of the minimum franchise marketing or local marketing budget for one location that we recommend. Let's start with LSA. The minimum budget for LSA, not depending on your industry, and mind you, this is very industry specific, is $800 to $1,000. Starting with less than that is not going to bring you the results that you need. Number 2 would be local SEO, very much underestimated and missed out on. Your local presence depends heavily, heavily on how much you invest in optimizing your Google Business Profile. If your Google Business Profile is invisible, your local business is invisible too. For Google and Meta ads, later on you need a higher budget. $1,500 is the very minimum if you want to appear in the two channels. If you are— want to run ads in one of the channels like Google Search Ads or Meta only, you can drop to $1,000, but that's the very minimum as well. Lastly, I've included some costs for local marketing activities offline because it's important for you to have some sort of an offline presence. Whether you have a physical store or you cover an area and you offer your services at the client's property, you need to have some sort of brochures, banners, and so forth. If we had to say a minimum that you should be spending per month, that's a minimum of $3,000. If you don't have that budget, it's going to be extremely difficult for you relying entirely on your franchisor to bring in the leads for you. If you're starting on your own and you're a local business, you are on, on your own expecting leads to come find you when you have zero visibility and you are not discoverable.
