Short advice-focused monologue arguing investors should avoid placing funds in liquid investments because liquidity invites emotional trading. The speaker advocates a long-term, bucketed strategy (including a safety bucket) to reduce fear-driven in-and-out behavior, outlast market cycles, and achieve greater peace of mind while building wealth.
You're not supposed to put your investments into something liquid, right? Why? Well, it's emotional. You're trying to take the emotion out of it. Yes. And so if it's liquid, you are allowing yourself to get emotional and go, I'm gonna grab my money and take it out. And you do that and you keep putting your investments in and out and in and out. That's why many people who have that strategy are losing the game of building wealth because they're allowing fear to take over as opposed to the investors who understand, hey, this is a long term game. I've figured out what my buckets are and I have this safety bucket over here. I don't have to be emotional about my investments. I can put it in there and wait for the long term. Because when you wait for the long term, typically you are going to win because you're outlasting the market cycle or the economy or whatever is going on and you actually have some more peace of mind.
