A short vlog-style YouTube episode where hosts Caitlin and CJ introduce beginner-friendly real estate investment options—REITs, crowdfunding, rentals, fix-and-flips, and homeownership—and recommend buying and house-hacking a primary residence as a practical starter approach. The vlog cross-promotes a longer podcast episode (‘Real Talk’) for deeper guidance and includes a standard investment/disclaimer.
Hi guys. Welcome back to another episode on our Freedom vlog. I'm Caitlin, this is cj. I'm sure you guys have seen him before or heard his voice if you watched any of our previous episodes or our podcast. But today we are here to talk about what is the best way to get started investing in real estate. So there's a couple of things that you can kind of start with that we thought were maybe good, kind of like beginner entry level positions to start, which are going to be real estate trusts, crowdfunding, rentals, fix and flips, and owning a home. So in your experience and expertise, cj, what would you say is the best way to get started?
Yeah, so I think the biggest thing that you have to understand is how active you want to do it, right? So a real estate investment trust is very easy as, you know, you just go online and you're, you know, clicking the buy button right, and you can sell it anymore, you know, at any time. And that's technically investing in real estate. But personally, I think the best way to get started is purchasing your own home. There's a lot of great home buying, you know, first time homebuyer options and you can choose to house hack that in a number of ways, right? You could buy a multifamily or you could just, you know, get roommates if you're looking for, you know, as that as a way to like kind of help offset your living costs. But I think, you know, buying your own home is a great way to get started and really be active in that real estate ownership.
Perfect. Well, you answered the why. So that's really all that we have for you guys for the vlog today because we want to keep everything really for the podcast. So in the podcast we're going to be going over a little bit more on what all of these different strategies are, how you can get started in it, how much you need to get started in real estate, and a couple of other things. So definitely be sure to check out that podcast that is real talk. R E I A L talk and like and subscribe so you don't miss any of the fun. But that's all. Remember to always invest smart, live happy. Bye guys.
