A short YouTube monologue offering practical tips for couples who work together: decide up front who has final decision authority to avoid arguments, identify and play to each partner's strengths (e.g., systems/routine vs relationship/people skills), and align business roles to showcase those strengths. Speaker uses personal examples to illustrate how complementary strengths contributed to their business success.
If you're a couple and you're going to work together, you have to decide up front who's ultimately going to be making the final decision. You can still discuss things, but when it comes down to it, you can't argue it. You have to agree up front. Either he does or she does. And then you have to also understand what your strengths are and what their strengths are, and you have to play out those strengths. So, for example, I'm more of the systems routine guy, and I'm like, it's either done or it's not done. And she is the exact opposite, just like most couples are. She's the exact opposite. She's more of the relationship. She's more of the get to know your family and your pets and all that kind of stuff. I'm not like that when it comes to business. I'm not. I'm just like, do your job, you get paid. I mean, that's it, right? So knowing those strengths and weaknesses, we're able to patch those together, understand your strengths, and allow the business to show off your strengths. And I think that was one of the reasons we were so successful, is because we were able to jump into both of our strengths, and it really came into play in our businesses.
