Ep 142 - The Power Of Your Belief System

This podcast episode (Freedom Through Passive Income, Ep 142) features hosts Flip and Danny of the Freedom Real Estate Group discussing how belief in oneself drives business success. They share anecdotes (including a Tony Robbins/Andre Agassi example), describe using belief to drive execution (bringing services in-house), acknowledge setbacks are normal, and close with a call-to-action to visit freedomcapitalinvestments.com and join their investor club.
Hey everybody. Flip and Danny here, founders of the Freedom Real estate group family of companies. And welcome to another episode of our.
Podcast called Freedom through passive Income.
Thank you for getting all the way through that one. And welcome to another episode of our podcast. This one is called the power of your belief system.
System, yes.
Which is very important.
Yes, it is. And I'm excited about this one because it, I say that about every single one because I get excited about things that are super relevant and that we're going through. And a lot of our podcasts are very much that. That's why this is a 365 day podcast because we're just going to talk about what we're, what's going on. Anyways, today I went to Kroger back to, we were in Atlanta and Andrew was saying something about, yeah, like when I get finished with this idea and I've got it, you know, it's done, it's done. And I just, I thought about that when I was, you know, writing this script on this, that you and I tend to be the exact same way. But first of all, when we, every single year we try, and at least for the past few years, this hasn't been really a big habitual thing that we've done traditionally for a long time, but we have lately been thinking of words for the year so we can focus on that word and just be better at it, whatever that word might be. Well, this year we are actually considering believe as one of the words because it's hard to believe sometimes how far we've come and how much bigger can we really get? But then ultimately we decided that that's such a core value within us automatically that we didn't need that to be a word to work on necessarily. And so we chose different words. So now getting back to that belief, I believe that part of success is how much you believe in yourself and your ability to get it done. And we had talked in just one of our last episodes about how the reason part of our success, the reason why we got to that fifth year anniversary, was because we brought so many companies in house, because we didn't have control over the people that we were outsourcing it to. But we believed if we brought it in house that we could do it no matter what it took, even if it meant we were building too fast or faster than what we ever anticipated to do. We just believed in ourselves. And the second it was there, it's like, we'll do it, we'll tackle it and we're gonna figure this out.
That's right.
Your turn.
Well, it's like goes back to the whole field of dreams, the Kevin Costner movie. If you build it, they will come. Right. If you believe, you truly believe in it and it can happen.
Yes.
And it's been. We haven't needed this word to be a word for our years or whatever.
Right.
Because it's just. That's something. Ever since we started, it just comes automatically. We believe that if we do this, this is going to happen.
Yes.
And we've always had that.
Yeah. And we always knew that we had the never give up attitude. Meaning that we wouldn't start something and not finish it because we believe in it. Yes, exactly. Right. And so when Andrew said that, and then I'm thinking of this as a topic, I was like, ah, you know, what Andrew said is very much who we are too. Especially now more than ever, as we've been building different things in the six business, it's been, okay, we're gonna do this. And now because we've said we're gonna do that, we're doing different things around it because of that. And we haven't even done it yet. But in our heads it's like, well, that's done. So what makes this better? And we start putting things around it that actually make it better. And with that type of mindset, you know that you can do anything and you can create one of the best things in. And when you're on the phone with investors and they give you an idea, you're like, oh, that's a good idea. All right. So this is what it built. And you're thinking like, it's already built, it's already there, even though it hasn't even started yet. And you're like, what have I put back? Oh, that's brilliant. So it's just the power of your belief system. People talk about limiting beliefs all the time. Right. And I think that really comes in Tony Robbins types seminars and he really talks about them. And the words that you use to yourself, your self talk really has an effect on what you're able to do. And the fact that it's at least in business, we've never done that to ourselves. And that power has brought us to where we are today. That wasn't the only thing, but it was one of the big things, I think.
Yeah. I always real quick Tony story because I remember listening to him talking about how he talked to Andre Agassi, you know, and for those of you that don't know who Andre Agassi is, I'm sorry that you were. You were born so late in life.
Is he a tennis player?
Yes. That's actually. Actually, that. That is impressive.
Oh, my goodness. He gets very proud of me when I can guess a sports.
Yeah, yeah. But anyway, so, you know, Andre Agassi said to Tony Robbins, said, hey, every time I play this guy, I can never beat him. I can never beat him. Every time I play this guy, I can never beat him. And Tony said, well, what's the first thing you think of when you go on the court to play this guy? He's like, I can't beat this guy. That's what you've lost before you even started.
Yep.
It's all in. It's all what you believe.
Yeah.
So you turn it around and eventually he, Andre Agassi went and played that guy and then beat him. And, you know, the big story. But. But I'll never forget that if you tell yourself you can't do something from the start, guess what?
Yes.
You can't do it.
Yes. And we were just in the hotel room and on one of the little notepads at night, I wrote something down, right? And this is kind of a conversation that we had. And see, we just tell you little stories. We were talking about how the fact that I always say, man, he's so much smarter than me, or he's. So I'll even say it to people, you're so much smarter than me, or you're so smart. And I thought that's just like, they are smarter in a different way. And what I ended up writing down that notepad was, you are smarter in areas than I am still working on or something like that. Because they do. They bring value. Everybody does. That's why you surround yourself with people who are smarter than you, so they can bring you value through experiences and knowledge and things. But that doesn't mean that you don't call yourself smart or you say that people are smarter than you, because I hear back from people and they'll go, stop saying that. And people have said that to me, stop saying that you are smarter in other areas than I am. And I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah. And I'm just so. I'm so downplaying it. But it's starting. It's starting to like, really kind of trickle in and just go, hey, because I do believe in myself, so why am I saying that?
It's just silly now. Are there going to be obstacles?
Yes.
Even. Even if you say this is going to happen, it doesn't mean that it's Going to be a smooth ride. Yeah.
Sorry, I had to drink some water.
As I was going to say, as Darren Hardy would say, shiitake happens.
Yes, it does. Yes. So even if you have. Even if you're failing forward, even if you are encountering some hiccups, some stumbles, some frustrating days, we all have them. We've all been there. It's going to happen. Be prepared for them to happen and know what you're going to do. Fortunately, you and I have each other, and so it's a lot easier when you do have somebody at your side who can help you go, hey, it's okay. Tomorrow's gonna be better. Or one hour from now will be better. If you allow it to.
If you allow it.
Yes. Sometimes we sabotage ourselves. So, anyways, I think that's really powerful.
