Ep 193 - Mastermind Series: Legacy Family

A podcast episode (Freedom through Passive Income, Ep.193) where hosts Flip and Danny review multifamily real estate masterminds, concentrating on Tim Braatz's Legacy Family. They describe how they discovered and joined masterminds (Seven Figure Multifamily then Legacy Family), the structure (daily live boardroom calls with topic schedule, events, shared Google Drive resources, deal-flow database), membership costs/options, and the newly launched Legacy Academy. The tone is informal, practical, and endorsement-leaning: the hosts present Legacy Family as high-value for multifamily investors and disclose they remain members and will coach in Legacy Academy.

Hey, everybody, Flip and Danny here, founders of the Freedom Real Estate Group family of companies.
He slowed down because you should have heard the last take. He did.
Okay. I turned into the Swedish Chef. You'll have to see that. Welcome to another episode of our podcast.
Which is called Freedom through Passive Income.
That's correct. And today is another episode of our Mastermind Theater. Mastermind Theater.
Yeah, yeah.
Mastermind series. And so yesterday we talked about Bill Allen, this Seven Figure flipping flipping live. And that whole. Is his whole just empire, his family.
Of companies or empire companies.
Yeah, no kidding. But today we're going to talk about the Legacy family.
Yeah. So Legacy family is owned by Tim Braatz. I actually was on a Mastermind call and I said, hey, hey, do you pronounce his last name Brats or Bratz? And the answer was, well, we'd all like to call him Brat. So it's kind of a joke. So now it made me. It forced me to remember. Is Tim Bratz. Anyway, so he's really, really fantastic. We found him. So on yesterday's episode, we really talked about our journey into masterminds. How we found them, what we thought of them before we started, who we interviewed, not necessarily everybody that we interviewed, but why we chose Seven figure flipping first. And then two years later, we fell in love with masterminds so much because of seven figure flipp flipping that when we jumped into multifamily, we said, we need, you know, to get in multifamily masterminds. And we were going so hardcore into it that not only did we join seven figure multifamily, but we also found Tim Bratz because he was another highly recommended group. There were other groups also recommended to us, but I'm very, like, value driven in terms of the people that we work with. I want them to be very much like us in terms of genuine, authentic, transparent stewardship. There's words in my head that I think of. That's the type of person we are. It's the type of person we want to be around because we know that when you surround yourselves with people like that, the extension is just automatic. They're all. All of us are kind of like, have those same values. Therefore, our network just expands a ton. So again, talk to a few multifamily masterminds. We already knew we were joining Seven Figure and out of, we ended up joining Tim Braatz's group. And it's been fantastic. Really, really love this group. We are still a part of this group. In fact, we're gonna be coaches for Legacy Academy.
Academy Yep.
So Tim's got like, again, like a family of, you know, groups within his or companies, whatever you want to call him. He's got Commercial Empire. It's the first one we went to. And then we went into Legacy wealth, which is now changed to Legacy Family. Just changed the name, which we love the word family. We're like, oh, that's good. We like Legacy wealth too. But he created Legacy Academy just very recently and he's got a deal flow machine where it's very much. If you're in the multifamily space because this is really specific to multifamily, it's another database where you can find properties. And our team said it rivals what we were using. So we're actually using two programs right now, including Deal Flow. So that was a big value add.
Yeah. I think the thing was, it was. Gosh, it was almost two years ago now that we joined because we were in my office and we were listening to. Was a two day event.
Yeah. The Commercial Fire.
And. And so we're just. Because it was again, that's, you know, Covid. So, you know, back when, you know, none of the events were live. And so we were, you know, we're listening to them and what's the. What's the line? I'd rather have a quarter of a watermelon than 100% of a grape.
Yep.
Um, I figured I was going to screw that one up. And when he said that, you know, it's like, yeah, you can be a part of more deals. You know, instead of just doing one deal, you can be part of many deals. And yeah, it really made sense. And I fell in love with the group right away, you know, that first day. And I knew that. I said, oh, we're joining this one.
Yeah.
So. But then, you know, the next thing you're about to talk about is the daily boardroom calls. You know, when they talked about, you know, joining the. The group, the mastermind, and they said, we're going to have daily calls. And I'm just like, whatever. These are going to be recorded stuff and you know, and it's going to be boring and you know, whatever. And it's everything. But. Yeah, because these are live calls and you know, the ones that I've been. You're on almost all of them. I was on like three, but. But the ones that are Iran, you know, it was. It's not a. Okay, today we're going to talk about this and somebody talks about something for half an hour and it does. Any. Any questions? It's no, it's. All right, who's got questions? You know, and it's live. And it's just, you know, hey, I've got a question about this. Okay, well, let's talk about that.
Yeah.
You know, and so it's just. But each day is different. So Monday is acquisitions, and then the rest of the week is. I don't know.
I just did Monday, Tuesdays operations. Wednesdays is legal and capital raising, Thursdays is hr, and Fridays is Tim Bratz or guest speaker. And it used to be like guest speakers. It could have been outside their family of companies, but now I think it's within the family of companies. It's somebody on their team. Might be they're an insurance person, they're lenders there. It's just somebody on their kind of. What we used to call power team is your network of people that you primarily work with. They bring those resources to the Friday call so that you can meet them and talk to them. But it's exactly what you said. You jump on and you get to ask anything. And what's nice and is that I know on Mondays I'm going there to ask something for acquisitions. Otherwise, I just don't show up. And so I'm not wasting my time getting on a call going, but what if, like, there's a nugget of value? And so I get on and I'm listening and I'm like, I knew all that stuff. If I have an acquisition question, I jump on. If I don't have an acquisition question, I'm not there. Same thing with all the calls. I really attended the acquisition calls and the legal and capital raising calls, because that's our focus. Right. But the operations calls, I actually want to start jumping on those so I can get some value out of those before we end up. I don't know how long we're going to be a part of this group. But I just think that there's always value. And I did hr when we were hiring people, I got on those calls because I had questions about that. So I love the laser focus and the availability of every day at noon. You know, I know I've got this boardroom of people depending on what I need to jump on and ask that question.
Yeah. And the cool thing, too was like, you know, what you have written here is that there was events, you know, and we went to Orlando. The last one we didn't go to, though, was Colorado, wasn't it?
Right. Eric went.
Eric, yeah. Yeah. And then. But not only events, but they. When you join you, you get invited to the Google Drive and it's like all of their stuff. Yes, it's all their docs, you know. And so again it's not, it's very open, they're very transparent. You know, this is how we do it.
Yep, yep.
And so it's just, it's again, it's another group that blew my mind.
Yeah. And as far as the cost, because we're always going to talk about the cost. Obviously depending on when you're watching this or listening to it, it may change. But the legacy family that we joined originally was right around $15,000. They do allow you to put a small down, down payment plus and then just pay every single month. So I think our payments are 1250amonth, you know, at this point in time, which is really nice because most masterminds require you to pay it all up front or a two payment thing or if you have to do monthly, they hike the cost. So that is one big value add for legacy family is that they don't hike the cost. It's just a monthly and it allows you to budget for those of you who don't have a, you know, big chunk of money and you don't want to spend an extra 2,000 or 5,000 on the mastermind because you have to do payments. They've just done a really good job there. So that's about $15,000 is for the legacy wealth. There is a Facebook group as well. They have lots of stuff then I think Commercial Empire at the time we did it was $500 maybe, I can't remember, but it was a two day event. It was virtual at the time. So I think it was probably cost us less because it was during COVID and it all turned virtual. It might have been more money had we gone and done a live event. And then Legacy Academy again which just launched is like $9.99 a month. $9.99, not almost a thousand.
10 bucks.
Yeah, 10 bucks a month or $99 for an entire year. And what they're doing is they're having other speakers like us go in there and do a series of videos for you and then allows you to connect with us that we can also help in any way. And I think that they'll have us host Facebook group things. And so it's just really exciting what they're trying to do and how they're trying to open it up to more people to start, you know, just getting started.
Yeah, yeah.
So there's going to be a link in the comments where you can get in touch with them and ask them about their programs and get started if you're interested in doing it. It's made an impact on us. Really, really helped us on our multifamily journey. And obviously we wouldn't be doing a video in Legacy Academy and helping in that area if we didn't believe this group was a great value.
Completely agree. All right, well, make sure that you're heading on over to our website, freedomcapitalinvestments.com and join the investor club to see all the stuff we're doing behind the scenes and any new deals that we get in there. But again, we're Also on Facebook, LinkedIn and all the social medias. But we hope that you're enjoying this Mastermind series. But we like to end all of our episodes with Invest Smart, Live Happy.
