Ep 276 - Motivational Monday - Win Streak

Flip and Daddy share the win streak habit: each day list three wins you had and three you want tomorrow. They explain why three is the right number to build momentum without overwhelm, with examples like prioritizing house projects and planning five podcasts.
Hey, everybody, Flip and Daddy here, founders of the Freedom Real Estate Group family of companies. And welcome to another episode of our.
Podcast, which is called Freedom through Passive Income.
That's right. And welcome to another episode. And today is Motivational Mondays. And this one's Motivational Mondays. Win streak.
Yes. I love win streaks. They're my favorite. So this episode is about. We have talked about the gap in the game.
I believe that's one of your favorite.
Yes, it is one of my favorite books. And one of the things that Dan Kennedy taught in that book was the win streak. And what it is, is every night before you go to bed, you write down or just even at the end of your day, it's totally fine. Like if you end your day at 3:00 clock or 5:00 clock or 7:00 clock at night, at the end, before you close out, you prep for tomorrow. And one of the things that you do is you write down three wins that you had that day and then three wins you intend to have tomorrow. And I like the idea of three because it's not overwhelming. Right. It's not hard. Right. It's not hard to think of three wins from the day and it's not hard to think of three wins for tomorrow. And then you're not like, I have to do 20 things, which is totally me.
It's early in the day and I can think of three things for tomorrow already.
Yeah, See, So it's really quick and simple and it allows you. The idea is to put you on a win streak. Right. Keep on being able to go, I did those three things. I'm really proud. Even if you didn't do your list of 20, which I'll create a list of 20. If I had just a list of three that I said I was going to do, if I got those three done, it was a win. Whereas typically if I didn't do this exercise, I would have been frustrated I didn't get my 20 things done. So it's a really good way to put you in a positive momentum of being happy about what you accomplished as opposed to upset about what you didn't accomplish. And so we have a list of yesterdays and today's. And so you want to start.
Yeah. So if we had a list. I didn't have the list. You do the list.
Yes. Yeah.
But if I had a list, it would be more than three because you have on there house projects. And that's like. I don't know how to describe it. Let's just say there's a lot of house projects. So to call that one item is not. Yeah, no, that's not.
Yeah. So we have a green notebook downstairs.
Yes.
That had a list of probably 20 things.
Yeah.
And I will say that we did prioritize it. Right. So one of them was hanging artwork. And so that was very number one. And did you guys finish hanging out?
We did.
See, so that was one and then two. I can't even remember what it was at this point.
Oh, there was. There was like five or six things on there. And I'm like, okay, we're going to maybe get two or three of those done.
Yeah.
And we got five and a half of them done. The sixth one we actually started, which I didn't even think we would start.
Right.
And so just. I was just floored with how much.
Stuff you even added to the list. You said, hey, can you turn on our outside heaters or test them to make sure that they work and actually put the propane in and all that stuff. So the idea, though, was, is that we even had that list downstairs. And in this example, the top three were the top three that we wanted to, like, have done in that order, but we got done five. So our list could have consisted. Or my list could have consisted of those five, and I would have had more than three. But I also put down there. Hey, we took our brother to the airport.
Yeah, we had to get her to the airport. It's not like. It's like. It's like. It's not like it's down the street.
Yeah.
You know, it's 45 minute drive. That's a million things could happen in that 45 minute drive, especially here in Florida. Goodness gracious. That's right. So. But we not only got a majority of the house projects done, but we also got your brother safely to the airport and he flew back to Phoenix and he's off to California today. So. Yeah, so that was definitely a win streak.
Yes, that was a win streak for yesterday. And then yesterday's win streak for today was to record five podcasts.
I believe this is one of them.
This is number one. So we're starting our win streak, finish our house projects and prep for the videographer who's coming tomorrow. Tomorrow.
Yeah. So we better get that done.
Yes, yes. So there's other things that we have on our list that we need to do, but these are the three most important things that we felt like we'd have a good win streak if we accomplish these things. And they're highest earn a list. So there's no Doubt that we'll get them done because we have to.
To.
So it was a good example. And I think that this is. It's motivating because it's not overwhelming. I think that's the key to this, is that it's not, number one, you wake up, you know what you're doing. Right. How many times do you wake up and go, I've got so much to do, and I don't even know what to tackle first. Right. But if you have this list, you know that you've already intentionally said these are the top three most important things. So you wake up going, okay, I gotta record five podcasts. I've got to finish the house projects, and I got to prep for the videographer. You know, there's other things on your list, but those are the three that are top of mind that it's focused for you to get done. And so you wake up with some intention and not feeling like, oh, my gosh, I don't know what to do. I know that feeling. And I, like, actually put myself in bed right now going, ah. Because I've felt it before. It's heavy and it's yuck. And you don't want to get out of bed and you don't want to start the day because it's just overwhelming to think about. So I think this is just a really good and motivated way to keep your momentum going and to stay out of that overwhelm zone. Because the overwhelm zone, I feel like, gets you stuck.
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, gosh, Saturday morning, I woke up with my list of things to do, and I was just so overwhelmed. The first thing on the list is travel 10 different countries. I'm like, how am I going to travel to 10 different countries today? I know I can go to Epcot center and do it in a couple hours.
Nice. In fact, I'm wearing a shirt we got at Epcot. And this is perfect for Motivational Monday, because one of our Motivational Monday podcasts was about the clothes that you wear. You can wear things that actually inspire you. So I got this one because it inspired me.
You want to read it? Second star to the right and straight on till morning. And it's got little. It's Peter Pan on there.
That's right.
A shadow of Peter Pan.
Yep. So I just thought of it when I saw the shirt in the store. I was like, ah, that's like going, hey, I want to go all the way up here. And that's how I think all the time. It's like, I've got this big vision or big goal, and it's way up there in the sky.
And.
And when I saw this shirt, second star to the right and keep straight till morning, it was like, oh, yeah, that's me. That's very motivating.
Yep. In effective side note, our dogs actually go to a daycare that's called Pixie Paws.
Yes.
After the pixie dust.
Yes, that's right.
Shout out to Pixie Paws because they are awesome.
Love it. Well, good. I think this is great. And actually this is funny because this is a live recording of us. This is actually getting posted today because we've had so much going on with the hurricane and my brother coming into town getting their house ready, and so things have been a little bit crazy. We usually would be farther ahead by now, but this morning we woke up and we said, we need to record five podcasts. One of them needs to get released today.
Today.
Happy Monday, everybody. I hope this was a little bit motivating and helps you create some new habits so it will keep you motivated as well.
Yes. And thank you, aj, for getting this turned around right away.
That's right, aj. You are awesome.
