Hey, everybody. Flip and Danny here, founders of the Freedom Real Estate Group family of companies. And welcome to another episode of our.
Podcast called Freedom through passive Income.
That's right. And today's episode is called three investing gold nuggets we learned from Dan Fleischmann.
Yay. I really loved him when he spoke.
And so some of you out there are saying, who is Dan Fleischman?
Yeah, Flippy, who's Dan Fleischman?
Well, let me tell you. So he was the youngest founder of a publicly traded company in history. That's pretty impressive.
That's pretty impressive.
By the age of 23, he sold $15 million worth of clothing. He negotiated a $9.5 million licensing deal with starter apparel. That's not just any little company there. He launched who's your daddy energy drink into 55,000 retail stores and military bases. And then in 2010, he launched Victory Poker. And he's also the founder of Elevator Studio.
Yes. So we were at a Mastermind event, and we're going to do a lot more of this because we were talking about this last night at dinner. This is how ideas come up. It's us out of dinner, just jibber jabbering about miscellaneous things. And we thought, hey, we're going to all these Masterminds. We're listening to all these great people and experts in their fields and just people that have had wild success. Why don't we take some of the lessons that we learned from them and do a podcast about them and, you know, mention them by name, maybe link to anything that they're doing just so that we can kind of promote them and share what we're learning with other people. Just like we ask you to, right? We are asking you, hey, share this if you find it value. Well, we found value in what Dan said, and so we're sharing it here with you. And so we're gonna do more of that.
Our Mike Tyson one's gonna be R rated.
We'll clean it up. Okay.
All right, everybody, if you're watching on LinkedIn or Facebook or YouTube, this is your chance right now. I know you see the like button right here, and you see the heart button right there. This is your chance in the video to smash these buttons. Make sure you hit that heart button. Make sure you hit that like button. If you like what you're subscribed seeing and if you enjoy what you're watching. But this is your chance right now at O.
And just remember, this is how we show social media algorithms that you like what we're sharing. So for adding any kind of value over this 365 day series. We hope you'll help us out by sharing the love.
Yeah. So, again.
All right, so the number one tip or gold nugget I should say that he shared was 40, 40, 20. So when he said that, we were like, Ooh, what's 44 cents? Piqued our curiosity. And it's investing advice. And he told a story about how he learned about his apprehension of taking money out when something was going down. Like he was talking about, hey, I'm investing in crypto. And as it goes down, I'm like, should I be taking it out? Should I leave it there? And I don't know what to do. And it's because he had quite a bit of money in that vehicle. And so he talked about the fact that I think that he ended up taking it out and I believe it went back up. And he regretted the fact that he took it out and ultimately decided, hey, I need to have a rule where we like to call it burn your money rule, like, it's okay if this money just lights on fire right now. I do not care. And so therefore, we're letting it go into an investment and we're going to ride whatever happens, Whether it goes down or up, we don't care because we are going to light it on fire anyway. So Dan kind of gave a similar example and he called it 40, 40, 20. He said, 40% of my investments are low risk. It's like a day job, active income, income producing assets, maybe around the 6 to 8% range. And he said another 40% is medium risk. Things like real estate, stock market, things where you won't lose everything if it goes down. And then the other 20%, that's his shot at glory. It's his angel investing, things like cryptocurrency and things like that. And so that kind of gave him this peace of mind that, hey, I, I know what my 80% is doing, and the 80% is going to be working and achieving everything that I want to do. But I do want that shot at glory and I don't want to stress about it and I don't want to take it out too early when there's a chance that it's going to go up. And then I missed the wave because I got nervous. So that's his 20% bucket. So I thought that was really, really cool. And it really kind of helped us, especially because we're in crypto too, and the stock market, but that's not really. We're not experts in those fields, but we wanted to dip our toe in the water, and this really made us feel a lot more comfortable to say, hey, this is our bucket that we would just light on fire. So it's okay. Sit over there.
In fact, I'm burning money quite a lot.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Crypto is going down. At least when you. When. When we are recording this video, it was. Yeah.
Let's hope by the time this airs that we're back up.
Yeah, yeah. I think we lost about half of our money, almost one point. But it's okay because we said we didn't care, so we didn't stress about it. So that's my favorite and best gold nugget that we learned from Dan that day. The other two are really quick. Number two is people. He said when he's investing, he bets on the person. Entrepreneurs and founders, especially serial entrepreneurs, are people that he likes to invest in. And he says that he only invests in things that he likes or people he likes, which is really good, because even when you picked out stocks, you were picking out all the things that you buy and you're a loyal fan of anyway. And I just thought, hey, that's another gold nugget. Thank you, Dan. And then the third gold nugget that we wrote down was. He said, you should always have a quarterback in every single business. So we have been the quarterback for our businesses for a very long time. And then we hired COO CEOs, and, you know, certain key players of every single division, and we talk about that all the time. The who? How so that's, you know, what we've done. So when he said that, I was like, ding, ding, ding, ding. Yep, that's it. That was my three gold nuggets.
Yay. But also one last little gold nugget. And I do apologize. If you're listening to this, you can't see these. But when we actually saw Dan to speak to us on stage, he was wearing something that I'd never seen before, because I'm not a sneaker head, and I don't want to be a sneaker head. But one thing that I am is I'm a Looney Tune fanatic, and I love my Looney Tunes, Bugs Bunny, and the whole, whole gang. Well, he was on stage, and he had these shoes on. So again, if you're listening and you're not watching, you can't see these. But these are the. They're Nike whatever. I think they're from one of the whatever. The latest LeBron James hoops movie. But anyway, so this is the Wile E. Coyote shoe and Wiley Coyote's in here. He's got the Little Help sign and the Acme company on the side here. And then this is the Roadrunner. Roadrunners in there. And. And he's beep right there. There's a whole story about that too. But Roadrunner. And so these shoes, they're awesome. I love these shoes.
And Dan was wearing them, right?
Dan came out on the, on the stage wearing these shoes. And I just looked at Danny, said, I must have those.
And not like we didn't steal them from Dan or anything. We did.
No. Yeah, he wasn't wearing these shoes. He was we very similar to these, but apparently I was good this year and so Santa brought those to me for Christmas.
Yes.
