Ep 89 - Our Favorite F Word

Flip and Danny argue that fulfillment, not money, drives true satisfaction. Meeting a retired $31B fund manager at a mastermind event clarified their mission: helping individual investors achieve passive income and freedom, not serving ultra-wealthy family offices.
Hey, everybody. Flip and Danny here, founders of the Freedom Real Estate Group, family of companies, and welcome to another episode of our.
Podcast called Freedom through Passive Income.
That's right. And today's episode is our favorite F word. Where's Tanya when you need her?
I know, right?
And I got. I got an idea what that F word is. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
What is it?
Fun Shirt Friday.
Of course, that would be your F word. Mine's Freedom.
Yeah. Is that it?
No.
No, it's not it either.
No.
Well, we'll tell you what our favorite F word is here in a second. But the question is, what are we all really after in life?
Yeah. So we talk about this all the time because we're husband and wife, and. Well.
Well, we talk.
Yeah, we do. And so many of the things that we kind of wrote here to talk about is things that we hear from others, things that we've discussed ourselves. And there are probably the most popular things that people say that they're after in terms of achievement in life, and those are freedom, success, time with family, money, legacy, impact. So those, like, are like the buzzwords that people say. This is what I want in life. Ultimately, as we've had multiple conversations around those things, there is something still lacking.
Yeah. All of those are empty without one thing.
Yes. And so what is our favorite F.
Word, Flip Fun Shirt Friday? Fulfillment.
It is fulfillment. So, like he said, there's things that are lacking if you have all the money in the world, but. But you aren't fulfilled. There is a emptiness. There is a. I have not done what I need to do in life. We all have something within our souls and beings that drives this desire of leaving something behind, doing something, making a change, making a difference, feeling good that when we are on our dying bed, we have done everything that we wanted to do, and that's part of fulfillment. So how do you reach fulfillment? And that's ultimately defined by achieving a purpose and defining what that purpose is for you to feel fulfilled. And so that's where we were in a recent mastermind, and we've talked about this a lot. You know, what is our purpose? What's gonna make us feel good by the time we reach the finish line, that, hey, we did it. And we've always had this vision and picture of what it was, but a light bulb went off at the mastermind, and I'm gonna let you tell that story.
Yeah. So we were looking forward to this mastermind because we knew that this person was gonna be speaking. And, you know, I would say probably, maybe a Month or two months ago, if you were to ask Danny, you know, how big of a fund do you want to build? She would probably say one quadrillion zillion bazillion, you know, with Google zeros, you know, okay, maybe a little bit more. But so we went and saw, you know, we went to our mastermind and we got to see that now he actually retired. He used to run a $31 billion fund.
Yes.
And he retired because the fund actually went public, and he retired the day before because he didn't want to run public company. Yeah, Smart man. But so he retired, but he. Anyway, he spoke and, and he talked about everything. And somebody had said they'd ask a question about, you know, how do I get to that next level? You know, because they're raising the million or whatever, but they wanted to raise the hundred million. And that's when it got from, you know, from the investors, the individual investors, to the, you know, what is family office? Family office. You know, and all of a sudden it just, it just immediately, just like that and both just clicked and both of us. It just immediately went from the investor, the heart, helping them achieve what they want to achieve, to the very cold family office that has so much wealth.
They don't know what to do with.
Yeah. And. And it just immediately just clicked for both of us. And, and you leaned over to me and he goes, and he said, I don't want to do that.
Yeah.
You know, and it was, it was, it was.
Yeah. You could see, you can say what your purpose is and what you think, you know, is going to fulfill you all you want. But the example that he just provided in that mastermind, it really went. We're on the right track. We made the right decision. Because even though I might want this quadrillion billion dollar fund, whatever, I do want to help the individual investor. I want to help investors like us, people like us who have a goal of passive income, of freedom, of spending more quality time with family, having a higher quality life, doing what they want, when they want, with whom they want. I want to help those people. I don't want to. I will work with a family office. Absolutely. There's no reason not to. Yeah.
And we don't have anything against family offices either.
But they're already wealthy and they're looking what to. Looking for things and people to invest in. So they're going to love working with people like us because we're the people that they look for. But that's not our purpose. That's not what's Going to on my dying deathbed, whatever. That's not going to be what makes me fulfilled. As I helped a bunch of family offices. It's going to be we helped you guys, we helped individual families and investors reach their goals by sharing with them how we did it ourselves. So I thought that was really, really cool. I was really super excited that this freedom through passive income idea truly, like on that day when we heard that, we went, boom, we're on the right track. We did it. We know what our purpose is. We know it's going to fulfill us. So that was super exciting.
Yeah.
So I know I talk about money a lot and especially I talk about money on Facebook. I talk about it on podcasts. And why I wanted to share this episode in particular was because money is the vehicle that gets us where we want to go. Right. But it's not like fulfills us. There's a different. There's a purpose. There's an underlying mission that you have in life that is going to give you the purpose and the fulfillment. The money just helps you get there. So anytime you hear me talking about money, it's really to fulfill the purpose and be able to say, hey, flippy fist bump, Boom, we did it. So that's what we wanted to share in this episode.
And I like to spend money. So again, we like to try to keep these as short as sweet possible. Make sure you're heading over to our website, freedomcapitalinvestments.com and make sure you sign up and join our investor club.
