Ep 93 - Top Seven Life Lessons

Flippin Danny and Danielle Robison share seven life lessons for entrepreneurs: showing up, giving first, grit, superpowers, tenacity, authenticity, and integrity. They draw on personal experience to explore what actually matters in business and life.
Hey, everybody. Flippin Danny here, founders of the Freedom Real Estate Group family of companies. And welcome to another episode of our podcast, which is called Freedom through Passive Income.
Yay.
Today's episode is called the top seven life lessons. Lessons. Some of these we've learned the hard way.
Yes, we have. I'm going to start. And when we were talking about doing this one, it just reminded me I just did a podcast with Aaron yesterday and we were talking about deadly investor mistakes. And I swear, this is like the antithesis of. Is that the right word? The opposite of that episode is this one.
It's the opposite. Yeah, there you go.
Anyways, I love when I think I know the word and then I go, maybe you just don't know the word. All right, let's go. Okay, ready?
Four syllables.
I don't even do it. I shouldn't even try. All right, the first one, top seven life lesson is show up. And this one relates to us because the people that don't show up the most are. I'm going to name three. One, contractors, two, tenant showings, three applicants when they're coming for an interview for a job.
Yeah.
In fact, the applicants coming for an interview, I started screening them to get rid of that. Yes, exactly. Because I was like, at least if you don't show up to the zoom, I didn't go out of my way.
I want to touch on this because I know what the other six are here. But along with the showing up, we had a sort of, I guess it was analysis paralysis when we first started that, you know, we've got a website. Well, don't. Don't show anyone the website yet. It's not done yet. You know, I'm like, well, it's 90%. No, it's not done. It's not done. You know, or that one marketing piece. It's not done yet. We have to fix it. It's got to be perfect.
Yeah.
And then we learned from somebody, this is just put it out there. It's better to have it out there than it to be perfect.
Yes.
So that, that sort of goes along with that showing up. Just do it.
Yes. Yeah.
Get it out there.
Yep.
All right. Number two, give first mentality. Ah, man, it's that darn zig Ziglar quote again. It's. I can I have it posted right here.
You're going to be sleeping one day, you're going to wake up.
It's going to be written in pencil. But, you know, the more you, the more you help others, the, the more it helps you but we. We. We took on this. This lesson many years ago, and it's definitely at the top of our. Top of our list every day.
Yeah. And truly one of the reasons why we're so successful.
Right.
Because we give so much that whenever we need something, we're proactively either getting it or it's very easy to ask. And people are like, oh, finally I get to do something for you. So it's fantastic. Number three, grit. Get it done. We've talked about this so many times. I'm not going to really expand on it very much. But when the going gets tough, keep on going. That's the type of people and the only type of people that we will work with. And it's part of our checklist of, hey, what's the character of this person? And do they have this value in their belief system in their company? Because we don't want to work with anybody that doesn't.
Yeah. And here in this office, we'll find out real quick if they have it or not. That's superpower. Discover it and use it. Now, we really. I don't know about you, but I figured this out with. It was the right seat. You know, the person in the right seat. All of a sudden, we found out somebody, superpower. Like, he's not in the right seat. He needs to be over there.
Yes.
You know, he needs to be doing this because that's not his superpower. That's a superpower.
That's right.
You know, and so that's definitely powerful.
And if you don't know what your superpower is, ask somebody else.
Cause I'm sure they'll know it like that.
Yep, exactly right. All right. Number five, Tenacity. Never give up. It's another one of our values that we require in somebody that we partner with or we work with. We want to make sure that again, when the going gets tough, you keep on going three feet from gold. Yes, that's right.
Number six, authenticity. Be you.
Yes.
Don't be fake. Don't try to be someone you're not. Don't you know, that's. And somebody's like, well, they said fake it till you make it. Well, that's completely different. Yes, that is completely different. Authentic is being true to yourself at all times.
Yeah. And even the fake it till you make it is still being true to yourself. It's kind of fake it till you make it as a little bit of a belief system inside you. Right. So that you don't have limiting beliefs that, hey, you know, act like you're here, but be authentic. Be transparent. So when people go, well, have you done this? Have you done this? I'll be the first to go. Nope. But I work with people or I'm surrounded by people who have and I can get the answer. Just like that. That has taken us far.
Yeah, it's. Act like you're here. Don't say that you're here. Act like you're here.
That's right. Act as if.
As if.
That's another one. Yep. All right, last one. Number seven. Integrity. Always do what's right, even when no one is looking. This is something that we talked about in yesterday's podcast, but we said it a little bit differently in terms of people who think of things short term and long term. And we said a deadly mistake is thinking of things short term, meaning that here's a deal, Flip. You or my private lender, I screwed up the rehab, you know, budget, and I'm just gonna throw my hands up in the air and walk away and go, sorry, man, it just. It didn't work. I tried my hardest. It didn't work. And you're out your money, and that's short term thinking. Like, you're just gonna either walk away from a hard, you know, situation, or some people grab money that they shouldn't be grabbing or require a partner to take a loss. They didn't have any responsibility for taking a loss. But it's. That's all short term thinking. Right. Whereas long term is. You know what, Flip? I screwed up. I'm gonna figure it out. I'm gonna pay for it. You're gonna get paid back, exactly what I promised you. Because that's important to me, and this relationship is important to me. That's integrity. Always do what's right, even when no one is looking. And that particular scenario, somebody was looking, somebody was a part of it. But I just related it because that was a really good conversation we had at the very end of that podcast, and I thought it was worth sharing on this one.
Awesome. Well, two things real quickly. You just touched my arm. Have you been holding on to ice cubes all day?
I know, I know. Really cold.
But the second thing is, even when no one is looking, that reminds me of the joke is, if a man says something and no women are around, is he still wrong? Anyway, so make sure that you join our investor club. Head on down to freedomcapitalinvestments.com. make sure you join our investor club. And why, Danny?
Why? Because you're going to get communications that nobody else gets. You have to be in our investor club in order to see certain deals that we are not allowed to advertise publicly and to just get communications from the team about what's going on in our business that we don't always post on social media.
Right. And we're still on social media. We're still in all of our groups. The whole gang's out there. So make sure you head over to Facebook, LinkedIn, whatever. The whole team's out there. Ask the questions. That's the place to ask questions as well. But let us know how you're doing. Let us know how we're doing. Let us know if you have any comments or suggestions. If you're out there watching on YouTube, make sure you subscribe. If you're listening on any of the podcast platforms, five star reviews would be awesome.
But if you like us that much.
Yeah, that's true. That's true.
For people listening. They just missed out on the funniest things.
Oh, yeah, Sorry about that. Yeah. There is no words to explain that. Anyway, we always like to end all of our episodes with invest smart, live, happy. Bye, everybody. You ready?
Ready. All right.
Hey, everybody Flipping Danny here. Founders.
Yeah. Okay.
I can't get it out, you know. Yeah. Okay. That's better. Okay. There we go.
