Hey, freedom fans. Erik Jones here, director of sales and marketing, bringing you another awesome vlog video. Today we are sitting down with Chris to do a team member interview. He is our property management for our property management company, Independence Property Management. So, Kris, tell us a little bit about what you do, sort of what your day is like. Although there's never a normal day in property management, right?
Never. Never a normal day. So a lot of what I do is actually resident relations. So I wake up in the morning, I check my phone, my email, I call residents back, email them back, and then plan on my day to try to bring as much satisfaction back to the properties as possible. So that way our owners make the most money possible on their properties.
Yeah, so I know you're very like sort of your mantra is very customer focused. Whether that be for the owner or even for the residents living in the properties, it's always focused around making them happy because in the end that makes the money come in and makes the properties profitable. So is there any bit of advice that you could give owners out there to help either manage their property better or make it a better experience in terms of working with a property management company?
Yeah. So, I mean, the biggest thing is that, you know, one of our jobs, property management, is to find that nice middle ground, that balance between what the owner or how the owner wants the property to cash flow and what the residents need in order to make that cash flow happen. So that's a major part of my job, is just try to find that balance and become sort of compromise and the middle so we both sides of both parties get the best value possible.
So what would if, I guess, what do you like about turnkey investing? I know you are an investor yourself, so what do you like about the concept of investing in real estate from a buy and hold aspect?
Most likely the longevity of the asset. You know, we see owners come in, they just want to be passive. They just want, hey, I have this beautifully remodeled property. Make me some money.
Yeah.
And then they kind of hand off to me. I'm just all right here. Well, we got this, you know, high standard for our residents and then we put them in there. And most of the time, you know, they're there for three, four, five years. And, you know, and then we also noticed that the longer the residents stay, the happier they are. The longer they stay. And owners even are more interested and say, okay, well who is this residential? And then the owners are getting slightly more involved and just, yeah, please renew their lease because they're great residents. And that's Our main goal is to not swap out residents every 12 months.
Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
So what would you say is the biggest challenge when it comes to property management?
Biggest challenge, I think, for most property management companies is actually communication. Communicating with the residents, then communicating with everybody else on staff, then trying to get things approved by the owners. That's one of the things that makes independence property management better is the fact that, you know, we keep communication all in one system, and everything's streamlined so the owners know immediately when things are going wrong. They also know immediately when things are going right. And there's multiple eyes in our system always. So our residents are always, always getting those touches with our. With our company. There's always interactions going on.
Okay.
All right, cool. So tell us, I guess something you do, something viewers out there may not know about you. Something you do in your free time, something interesting.
Something in my free time. Something interesting.
All right.
So besides work, work a lot? No. So something we do, I do in the free time, in my free time. And this is kind of back to work a little bit, but I love interacting with people in my field, so I spent a lot of time on forums like Victor Pockets, Facebook groups, things like that. And just I'm always interacting with resident owners, future investors, anybody I can, because the networking aspect of this business is actually fun for me. And then on that, on the flip side, it helps grow my business and our brand with freedom.
Okay, so in your free time, you like to work much.
Got it.
Okay. So it is time. If you watched our last vlog interview with Danny, we did a rapid fire. And so now we're gonna do one with Chris. So first question, you ready?
Yeah.

That's really weird. Everybody's like, ooh, Florida or, ooh, Hawaii. Chicago's hand. Hands down. My favorite place in the US to.
Go in particular reason why this is not rapid fire.
That. I'm sorry. Now.
There's not actually a very particular reason other than this. One of the first places I remember going to as a child, and then every time I go back there, it's just constant happy memories. That's pretty much it.
Okay. All right.
Favorite color.
Blue.
