How I have Trained My AI For Social Media Marketing

Qi Muldrick walks through how her agency trains custom GPTs on brand voice and strategy to speed up social media work without losing authenticity. She covers building a five-pillar content framework, using AI as a starting point that gets personalized by humans, and assembling teams with platform specialists to track daily trends.

A panel called 'defining your brand' (held at the end of the month).
We use AI, but we use it from the prospect of saving time, right? So we do use ChatGPT, but we have this workaround where we create what is called a GPT for our client and we put all of our brand information in there, right? And we say, this is the tone, this is their voice, these are their avatars, this is their strategy, what this is the. What they're promoting, this is how they speak. So we prompt the hell out of it. And, and then we have this trained GPT that we could work with.
I want to talk a little bit about, as entrepreneurs, business owners, it is. Social media is a very distracting place to be. Also, let's be honest, there's some real jerks on social media that are keyboard warriors and are going to just say stupid and crappy things about you. So one of the things I love working with somebody like you is, number one, you're the pro. So to all of the points that you've just said, you know what to do on social media, you know what it's there for, but also you've just limited me from having to expose myself to that distraction. I can focus on what I do best. Flip can focus on what he does best. And that's not to get on social media and see crappy comments. And to that point, crappy comments, they're probably as good as the good comments, right? The more you're on social media, like all those haters, the people that know like and trust you, get on and defend you anyway, right? You don't have to be on there worried about that stuff. And like the algorithm, it helps the algorithm. Like, I've kind of learned to, hey, if you get on and see that stuff, just go hooray, you know, let the haters hate. You know, it is what it is. But talk to that. You live in social media, so you're obviously it's your gig to be on it every day, but how much it helps, helps us in our business to not have to be on there, but still providing the value to everybody else in our company by being there for all the reasons that you said. Can you share a little bit about that and how you've helped other people in the same way?
Absolutely. Well, my first comment I'd like to make what you said about haters, and then you have people that like, kind of handle it for you. That's what we call brand culture, right? That's your brand is working for you, and that's when you know it's your. Your strategy is working. If somebody comes on there. And like, and then you have immediate responses. It's like you have an army of people, digital, like a digital army. And they're like, no, no way. This is not true. This is not how it is. You should do this and you don't have to do anything. It's amazing. That is brand culture right there. I'm actually hosting a panel at the end of this month. It's called defining your brand and it's about what people say about you when you're not in the room. So very similar to what you were just saying. It's like, how do I do this social media thing without being entrenched in it? And that's why I created a business around it. Like, let's be honest, it sucks. It's. Nobody wants to do it. And it's, it's so time consuming and it's not. I was talking to somebody earlier today. It's not like, oh, I could hire my little niece or my cousin who just like, she's in high school, she loves social media to do. It's, that's, it's not, it's a business. It truly is a business. And it's getting more and more and more complex as technology evolves, especially with AI coming out. Right? You have to have somebody in there that creates that human centered approach that is as raw and as real and authentic as possible and somebody that's really in tune with what you guys are doing. Which is why I love that you hire in house, that you guys have the ability to hire in house. Because as you all know, it's a lot of work, right? Even working with us, we try our best to model our business after entrepreneurs who have a crazy, crazy lifestyle. They don't have time to be filming every single day, but it's a lot of work. So accepting that it may not be a full time job, but it is something that you will have your hands off the technical and the logistics side of it and the strategy side of it. But you need to have somebody be like, this is what's working, this is not what's working. Let's try this and then just keep rolling with the punches as they come. But yeah, it's not something that a business owner can run effectively with their business. They either need to outsource it or hire somebody else. There's no other way around it.
Yes, 100%. And if you're going to spend the money, might as well spend the money on the pro. Because hiring somebody that also doesn't know what they're doing, then there's really not a point, in my opinion, because I don't think you're being effective. And many times I want to talk to this. You brought up AI and I want to talk about this because I see so many people making the mistake of saying, hey, AI is going to replace all those, these marketing, you know, pros. And I'm going to use this and it's, you know, for free or whatever. And I just want to, I kind of want to say, you're my competitor, so go for it, you know, have a great time. But the truth is you can read right through AI, you know, and my team has even tested some stuff and sent it to me and I was like, that's AI written like, you know, a human element when you read it. And authenticity and the genuine feel and look of somebody's life is so, so different. And if you want to stand apart from the rest, hire a professional social media agency that is going to show the real you. And if you want to drown in the rest of the competition and not be seen, then use AI.
Yeah, it'll smack you in the face. And I do think we use AI, but we used it from the prospect of saving time, right? So we do use chat gbt, but we have this workaround where we create what is called a GPT for our client and we put all of our brand information in there, right? And we say, this is the tone, this is their voice, these are their avatars, this is their strategy, what this is the, what they're promoting, this is how they speak. So we prompt the hell out of it. And then we have this trained GPT that we could work with and say, hey, Flip and Danny are releasing a new podcast. And the podcast descript, you know, based off what I've trained you on, the podcast description, please add in these elements. Q. Muldrick is the speaker. This is her bio. Here's the transcript. Create a podcast intro. But that required me going in and training it and prompting it and reviewing it. So what it's doing is it's making, it's hedging out lower level jobs, I will say that. But it's making these higher level jobs be more strategic so I don't have to sit there and look at a after I've had an eight hour workday and be like, okay, I have to come up with a podcast intro. I could train my GPT in the tone that I want. I could curate instant prompts right away or instant frameworks. And then I could say, I like this. I don't like that, but it just, it, it takes away from starting with a blank canvas. It's like, gives you an outline to work with. So I do believe there's a balance between using AI and a human centered approach. But I do not believe. I tell my girls, I'm like, if you use that first prompt on Chat GPT, you're getting written up like, that's not, that's, that's. You need to take that as a baseline and reprompt it, rework it, or you build something and have GPT evolve it. But yeah, we use AI. And I feel like in the marketing world, if you're not adding AI into your systems in a productive way that saves you time and creates efficiencies, then you will be left behind. Right? So there's two, there's two ways to look at it. You could, there's a, a partnership with the human and the AI. But what you said, if you just let AI do it all, it's obvious. Like you could look at a Description like, okay, ChatGPT made that right. And that's becoming more and more transparent. As people are getting more into the AI world, they're going to see that and then it's just going to be inevitable. Personalizing the hell out of your AI is very, very important because again, people will see through that and they'll immediately unfollow you. They'll be like, oh, this is fake, this isn't real. Which goes into the importance more as AI evolves. People want faces, they want faces, they want real people. AI will be able to create beautiful graphics and beautiful, you know, info infographics or posts. But people are going to crave human interaction, even if it's digitally. So it's, it's a nice balance of everything, but it's respecting the ethics of curating something with a strategic approach with AI as a support tool.
I love that man. Gold nuggets, business owners out there. I hope you wrapped all that up. That was beautiful. Okay, one of my last questions, I don't know if you have any. Sorry, I've been like stealing Q's time here. I missed it. But trends talk to me about. Because social media changes so fast. Another thing that I don't want to be responsible for staying on top of. So talk to us about the trends and, and how your team stays on top of everything.
Yeah. So I will be the first to say, as the CEO now of a social media digital agency, I have my hands off of the social media trends component. But the number one priority in our group, we have, we have 13 people on our team right now, eight people that are in the office is educating. So we have a daily Slack channel where it's like, hey, this reel was released or this trend was released or whatever it is. This platform was added in. This is the algorithm change. This is, this is like a new strategy or new pack. So we have that daily connection and then each of the girls has their own platform. So somebody focuses just on Facebook, somebody focuses just on YouTube, somebody focuses it because it's impossible, impossible to be an expert in all of them. So each girl really dives into a platform each month and they'll pick like the top five trends that are happening and they pitch it to the team and then our team all goes in and they apply those trends and those tactics and those strategies to our clients profiles. And then 30 days later we all look at the data, we see what works, what didn't work, what trend is still going, what trend is falling off. Because that's just how it goes. But yeah, there's, I would say trends are specific per platform. So with Instagram right now, I would say people are, Instagram's really battling right now with like testing everything out. They really went towards like the creator and big business side. Now they're dialing it back. But short form content, that's always been an Instagram focus and Instagram's trying to increase it to more long form content. And Tik Tok is just pure entertainment. Right. We definitely like to have, you know, education and you know, some fun professional content on there. But people like that user generated content, like the stuff that you capture, like, oh, I pulled my phone out in that moment when it happened that nobody else would have captured that moment. So I will say I am no longer an expert on trends and what's happening. But my girls have a system, a very, very intense system. Because if we're not staying on top of it, same with AI, we're going to fall behind it. So it's something that's cyclical and we're changing it on a daily basis. What we thought we knew yesterday we could apply this whole campaign to this whole trending concept and then it dies out. We got to reapply it. So it's a process.
I love it. Flip. Any questions for Kim?
Oh, actually I do have a very serious question.
Oh my gosh.
I don't know.
So I, you know, I'm not completely in the know, but I do know that Musk fella bought Twitter, right? Yeah, but, but he bought that like, almost a year ago now. And it's called, it's called X.
Right.
So how much longer do we have to say X, formerly known as Twitter? Since it's been a year now. Can we just call it X?
I don't know. I. I don't know.
I mean, even I know what X is.
Yeah, I think everybody's fighting it. There's. I listen to these AI podcasts and Elon Musk is involved with that. Sam Altman, like all these big players and it's. It have its own reality TV show. It's really dramatic in the tech world and what they're doing with AI. So I feel like people are fighting. We don't want to say X. We're not saying X because we're like. It's just. It's like this dramatic push and pull between all these big players in the AI world. And people are buying Meta and buying Tick Tock and buying Twitter and they're changing the names and it's pretty crazy. But I, I do not know the answer to that one flip. But I would say probably the next two to three. Yeah, it's probably at least something else.
Yeah, I was thinking, you know, I mean, you know, he could have called it anything. He could have called it Apples, but we would still say Apples, formerly known as Twitter, you know, just because it's him, you know?
Yeah, 100. Yeah, he's. He's an interesting cat.
Oh, my goodness. Well, Qi, I have loved this show. I could probably add 10 more questions of this because social media is such a big part of our lives today, and so such a big part of just community and touching people and that credibility piece and connecting. Everybody's just different. Some people want to jump on the phone. That's really rare these days. A lot of people want to text. The amount of people that reach out via social media is getting higher and higher and higher, and I believe that that trend is going to continue. And if you don't have somebody in your corner that is taking care of this for you, I just, I don't know what happens to you in your business. How far you can grow. Is there a limit and a ceiling in which you can grow because you don't have that presence? So any last words or of wisdom or advice and how do people get in touch with you?
Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. I could talk forever on this too. This is like this. I'm so passionate about it, and it's such an ever changing landscape to navigate, to say the least. I'm just blessed that I have A team of young women who are very, very in tune with this world. They make me feel like a grandma. I'm like, I didn't know that's a new word that was out. But it's not for the weak minded. Social media is here to stay, stay. And it's a huge prominent concept that you need to infiltrate into your business as soon as possible. If you do not have the ability to afford it right now, I say just start posting, right? Just start, get some type of presence on there. And my biggest piece of advice I love to give to really small startup companies who have absolutely no, no finances or tools or anything or ability to really outsource it or hire in house is just to pick five pillars of your life and within those five pillars, create sub pillars. So if you talk, I mean you guys have what, eight pillars with all your businesses, but plus all the personal stuff. But you know, I use my, my husband as an example. He's in the health and wellness world and he also is a real estate investor and he raises private money. But each pillar with health and wellness, we talk about cold plunging, we talk about fitness, we talk about nutrition. So within one pillar you could have all these little subtopics that help you curate content. Eas. If you're talking about the, you know, he raises private money, let's talk about who he's raising private money for and what the process is like and how he builds relationships and he fixes and flips homes. Cool. So let's talk about the evolution of that. So that way you people like, what type of content do I create? You're saying just post, but what type of content do I create? Create those five pillars and create sub pillars underneath and all of a sudden you have 100 pieces of content that you could continuously film. And don't worry about what anybody thinks about you. Like you said, haters are going to hate. Every hater is a follower. If you ain't liking you lurking, I've heard it all. So just every, you're not going to be everybody's cup of tea and that's okay. But Pace Morby always says, I learned this from him. Your vibe will attract your tribe. And your tribe is your culture. Your culture is your brand. So just stay consistent with it. Don't let the haters or your grandma or mom or sister like, oh, I see you posting on social media. You are trying to build a business and you are doing the right thing. So that's, I have so many people who are so scared to get online and so Scared to get in front of a camera. And I get it. It's not natural. It's quite narcissistic and weird, but it's where the world is evolving. So just post.
I love it. And how do people get in touch with you?
