This YouTube monologue describes the speaker's decision to leave a 19-year career at McDonald's Corporation to pursue real estate full time. The speaker recounts a long-held interest in real estate (since age 17), a catalytic experience owning a rental property, and the personal costs of the transition — including strains on their marriage and an ultimatum to their spouse.
Time. I'd been with McDonald's Corporation for 19 years, and I already knew I wanted to get in real estate. I knew I wanted to get in real estate when I was 17. So this was always in the back of my mind. And when I got our first rental property a few years prior, once I got a taste of that, I knew, this is what I want to do full time. I already knew I was leaving McDonald's Corporation and do real estate full time. And I was not willing to go back. I was done with corporate America. I was just done. So when I left, I was willing to sacrifice everything, including the marriage. I know that sounds bad, but I'm going to be honest with you. That's exactly where my thought process was. Because when she wasn't supportive, and she can confirm this, I literally told her, either you get on board or I'm going without you, because that's the only way this bus is going. I was just as much to blame as she was. I mean, I could sit here and joke, she wasn't supportive, but I really wasn't supportive of her either and her thoughts. Because at that point in time, I was just ready. I'm done. I can't live my life in corporate America anymore, and I'm done.
