Short video (YouTube) arguing that the common myth that selling a home "for sale by owner" (FSBO) saves money is false. The speaker explains FSBO reduces exposure, delays sale, increases holding costs, risks legal/ disclosure problems, and recommends working with an agent; includes a call-to-action to contact Independence Realty Group.
Myth Selling your home for sale by owner saves you money. So this is not true. We've worked with many people who have put their home on the market by themselves. When I say on the market, they put it up on Zillow or a for sale by owner site and they didn't have the exposure they could have had if they were actually working with an agent. They ended up coming to work with an agent anyway. And the people that could have bought when the house was fresh on the market were already gone. It took too long. There was already holding costs adding up for the time that the seller wasted. It's really, really important that you set yourself up for success when you want to sell your home. Plus, the agent is going to be able to do all of the comps for you. They're going to give you all of the legal paperwork so that you don't get sued after the fact because you didn't disclose really important things that the buyer needed to know about your property. If you're looking to sell your house, make sure you explore all the options. Don't simply think you're saving money by selling it for sale by owner and learn later you made a big mistake.
