A new home doesn't mean no repairs. The speaker bought a model home in 2004 and discovered common construction issues that inspections and warranties should catch. Work with reliable teams like Independence Realty Group and Bulldog Renovations.
Myth Buying a new home doesn't mean repairs aren't needed. So we have a ton of experience with this. Back in, when we got married, I want to say it was around the 2004 area. We actually bought a model home. And when we bought the home, we didn't do a whole lot of inspections beforehand because it was the model. And we just assumed at that point in time, not being in real estate, that it was going to be perfect. Nothing wrong. Boy, were we mistaken. And we've learned that time and time again. We're actually in our backyard right now, the area where we play with our dogs. You can see the golf course here and all the new homes. There's a lot of new construction going on here, and we're a part of a Facebook group that they all talk to each other and people are saying, I just bought my brand new home, new construction, and there's issues everywhere, and people are so grateful for warranties, things like that. I think it's really, really important that you're working with a reliable team, people that are going to care about the renovation of your home.
