Prepping For The New Year | Real Estate Investing | Freedom Vlog | EP. 98

Flip and Danny of Freedom Real Estate Group walk through their year-end planning framework: keep, change, start, stop. They ran it with their team, tallied suggestions to find what matters most, and used one-on-ones to collect feedback for both business processes and personal goals.
Foreign.
Hey, everybody. Flip and Danny here, owners of the Freedom Real Estate Group, family of companies, welcome to our Freedom vlog.
Yeah, surprise. We haven't done this in a while.
Yeah, I'm like, we still have a vlog. No, everybody else has been doing it, which is awesome, you know, because we've been doing that daily thing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That daily podcast. It was super easy. Not, not a big time commitment at all. Yeah, we, I will say we're thankful to our team. I also think, as you know, as an investor, I would love watching, you know, the team, the people actually doing the work and listening to them all the time. So just excited how that is all progressed. But hey, it's a time. Here we are.
I'm sure everyone just press play with. Oh, that's them again.
So today we're talking about preparation for the new year. And this vlog is going to be kind of a. Just a short little conversation. And I chose to start with keep, change, start, stop.
And I was gonna say, I'm prepped for the new year. I've got fireworks, champagne, hats, the noise makers. That's the new year you're talking about.
This is why they don't ask us to do these vlogs anymore.
There's a point to my madness.
The preparation for the new year. We're talking about real estate, personal, general, financial, you know, things like that. So that's the topic, Flippy. And that's why I'm in charge of the content, so I can keep us, you know, you know, on point. Yes. Sit up. Sweet. Anyway, so for this blog, it's going to be only a few minutes that we want to talk about. Keep, change, start, stop. Now, this is something that we did a year ago when our new CEO had come on, and he's the one that came up with the idea. And, and I really, really liked it. And the idea was, is that the entire team was able to think of things that they would want to keep going forward into the new year. They would want to change going forward into the new year, they would like to start going forward into the new year, or they would like to stop going forward into the new year. So there were long lists and actually change wasn't one of them. But I included change on this because sometimes people like things, but they, they have a new idea on how it could be better. Right. So those four columns. Last year it was three columns. Just, keep, start, stop. And there was just. The list was huge on things. And so ultimately what happened was we figured out how many Times something was said and we kind of put a score next to it, right? Like 20 times. This one came up. 15 times. This. This one came up. And so. And that helped make decisions because obviously we were going to imp. But it helped us realize that, hey, everybody is saying they want to stop this activity. Everybody is saying that they like the idea of starting this activity or keeping. So I really, really like that exercise. And so I've been doing it with the core leaders in our team here towards the end of the year in my one on ones with them, which we'll talk about greater in. In more detail in the podcast episode. But I just thought it was really neat and I've enjoyed hearing what everybody likes to, you know, keep, stop, stop or start. And there's no, you know, there's no judgment, right. Because sometimes people will be afraid of, like, flipping Danny really like this activity or Aaron really likes this activity. Like, if they don't like it, well, then it's not fruitful. Let's just stop it. So it's been really neat to have these conversations. I don't know how you feel about it or what you remember or you want, what you. What you want to share.
Well, I know. I mean, I thought it was great. When he first presented the idea, I was like, oh, oh, okay, this should be interesting. And it was. And it was way beyond what I expected. I mean, I expected way more Stop. Flip from being on podcasts, but I only saw one of those. That was me that put that. No, I. I loved it. It was. It was great. It was. I mean, because you always think that, you know, what everyone. Yeah, you always. Oh, everyone's happy. Everyone loves doing this. And then you. Oh, yep. Interesting.
Yes.
See that coming.
Yeah.
You know, or. Or whatever. And there wasn't anything that went, wow, you know, there wasn't anything like that. At least, not that I care.
But.
No, I loved it. It was. It was great insight. It was great. You know, it's great for the team, you know. Yeah, no, it was. It was. It was brilliant.
Yeah.
Glad I thought.
Yeah, I agree, too. I think it's something that you don't. It doesn't just apply to business. Right. It can apply to your family. It can apply to you personally. What did I do in 2022 that I want to keep or do what now? What do I want to do in 2023 that I want to start that I didn't do in 22? And I wish I would have, you know, this. This list can be created for, you know, many different aspects of life. So that's why I wanted to hit it on the vlog. But we're going to record a podcast and we're going to really dive deep into preparation for the new year. We're going to go through 10 tips that we shared on another one of our podcasts about how to prepare. And it's more on a financial level and legal things like that, things that we always do. At the end of the year, we're going to share those 10 tips with you, and then we're going to talk a little bit about the business side as well, which is where that keep change start. Stop. I had that listed there, so we'll dive into some of that as well. I'm super excited.
Yeah, me too.
All right. So, Flip, you want to close this out?
Yeah. Well, we like to end all these episodes with invest Smart little pappy.
