In this tutorial, Dave Barnhart walks traders through setting up the Moby platform for his pre‑market scanning workflow. He demonstrates how to create a custom two‑row, two‑column layout, add charts, pre‑market volume, and aggregate dark‑pool print components, and name the layout. He shows how to adjust chart timeframes (daily, intraday) and apply technical overlays such as Person’s Pivots, Camarilla Pivot Boss, and moving averages. Barnhart explains the aggregate prints panel, which automatically lists the top ten large block trades over selectable date ranges (30 days, 60 days, custom) and how to interpret dark‑pool activity. He then details his filter criteria for pre‑market stock selection: a minimum ATR of $1, at least 10,000 shares traded, specific gap ranges, and sorting by change percent. Using real‑time examples (HPE, SpaceX, HZO, INHD, Marvell), he shows how to click a ticker, view its dark‑pool prints, and decide swing‑trade entries or shorts based on pivots, major dollar levels, and moving averages. The video concludes with a call to subscribe for daily pre‑market videos released at 6 AM Eastern.

Hello traders! In this video, we're going to set up Moby how I use it in my pre-market videos. So thank you for those of you that wrote in asking how we go ahead and do this. So if you have a Moby subscription, we're going to come up here to custom layouts. We're going to do add new layout. And so there's some default ones here. I am going to choose add my first row. So all I have is 2 rows and 2 columns in each. So I'm going to go add a column here. That gives us 2. On the left-hand side, you can drag and drop your components. I'm going to have a chart there. I have a large— another chart there. I'm going to add a second row, going to add a column, and on the left-hand side, we're going to add pre-market volume. And then on the right-hand side, we're going to add aggregate prints. So that's this one right here. Okay, so now we come up to the top. We give it a title, pre-market setups, and I'm going to save the layout. Now I'm going to go to my layout. So let's look what we have here. I've got Hewlett-Packard up here. Let's have a quick overview of what we're looking at here. Here it says HPE on the chart, it's blue. This one says HPE. It's blue, and this one up here is blue for the colors. So if I change this to any ticker, both charts change. Now this one's set to one day. This one's set to one day. So I can set this one, say for example, to one minute, two minutes, or five minutes for intraday. I use Person's Pivots and Camarilla Pivot Boss with some moving averages. That'll be another video configuring that. So now I have the five minute on the left-hand side and On the right-hand side, we have the daily. Now what happens here is by default, the largest block trades in the last 30 days, the top 10, are automatically added to your chart. That's this aggregate prints thing down here at the bottom. So these are market hours, and this says July 12th to August 10th. Anything over 50,000 is shared— is, uh, is shown here, but it takes the top 10. So what I can do here is I can look at the week by clicking on week. Or I can do, say, 60 days. You can go back. You can do a custom date range. You could go six months, and then you can see that the largest trades are huge in the last six months and get a larger picture of where the dark pool actually is. Now, in looking for the pre-market trade setups after 4 a.m., the volume starts coming in on its own, and so today's volume SpaceX 4.7 million before the market opens already, and we can see. Here that it's up $3.58, 2.6%. It's got an ATR of $9.75, $1.5 billion in the float, and 2.67% float short. So what I wind up doing is we want stocks that have some volume. I want a minimum ATR of $1 so that I can make some money scalping. You don't want to trade something that has a 3-cent ATR. And then here I'm going to click on filters and I'm going to do a minimum 10,000 shares depending on the time. You can also look for specific gap ranges as well. And so now what I can do here is, say for example, you want to see things that have moved. I'm going to choose change percent here. Looking at the highest, HZO is 53,000. INHD— these ones here have massive gaps. So you can look at these stocks. If you click on one of them, for example, it will show up on the chart and you see the largest dark pool prints. So one that I picked today, Marvell, let's have a look at that. What we wind up seeing here is the institutions playing around here. I'll go to the last month and this is why I like it. When we see things that show up here in the pre-market volume like this and then when we click on it we can see what the institutions are actually doing. So when I called this out we had this block of prints here Pulled back to a moving average, higher high above these prints, and now we're breaking above. So if we're swing trading, this is good. If we get some volume here closing higher, we can swing trade that, and then we've got to get below the prints in order to go short. And then I pick my— I pick my levels based on these pivots, major dollar levels, and moving averages. So you can watch, subscribe to my YouTube channel and watch my videos every day that are out by 6 AM Eastern. Okay, if I wanted to add some different prints on here, I could just click on them and you can see that, or I can click on them to remove them. I can clear them and I can re-add them back. Hopefully that answers your question of setting up Moby, how I do for my pre-market. Happy trading everyone! Leave some comments in the comment section below, and we'll see you in the next video. Take care.
