Cohort 8 - Day 2 - 4-24-2025

Workshop-style transcript of Day 2 (April 24, 2025) of a cohort led by Dean Graziosi-style instructor and participants (Justin, Tyler, James, Stephen, Speaker B). The group discusses rapid AI progress and its societal/economic implications, then shifts to hands-on topics: debugging projects, image generation, logo design, and practical tooling/workflows (Replit, MidJourney, Grok, design.com, Fiverr, Topaz).
Chapters
What's up?
You have any kids, Tyler?
No sir.
Fair enough. We were just all talking about our kids. Justin's got a five month old, that's his first, so he was talking about a little tired. Well guys, welcome to day two. We're gonna do much fun stuff today. We're gonna get, you know, yesterday really was kind of fast, but really the idea was to get into like we really wanted to get you into rep what started and, and let you just kind of let loose, which I think it was. Steven, you messaged me late last night at like 2:50am I think is what it said on my LinkedIn message, like hey, I've got something good going here. So we'd love to see that. We definitely love to see that. And we're going to be, you know, definitely, I'm sure you have questions like how do I do this and how can I make this faster and how is this easier or whatever. So we're going to be doing some debugging things like that today. We're going to be going over some image generation and even video generation today, which would be fun. And you know, all of you guys have done that. But how to, how to really do that in really nice ways, how to get better prompts, how to then pull that stuff into replit really easily and into your projects. And then we'll also go over some, we might cover security today. Security is kind of a good topic. I usually say that for day three, but we might go fast through some of these things because we got a smaller group here. But yeah, we'll, we'll actually do some screen sharing today and kind of work on your projects, help you guys get unstuck. And we will talk a little bit more about APIs today. Right, we did some of that yesterday, but we'll look at a few others that could be quite useful. So. All right, with that being said, I want to start off the day. Yesterday we listened to Eric Schmidt talk for a moment about the former CEO of Google, talk about how the rate of progress with AI is just dramatic and where you have recursive self improvement where the AIs are getting smart enough to fix and improve themselves and at some point, you know, when you can assign a thousand AIs yourself as an AI agent to improve your own AI, you know, then what happens, right? And all of a sudden it just kind of takes off and you know, you, there's a lot of movies that you know, consider that scenario and that's fun to think about, but it's coming it's here, right? I mean this is happening. And then, and then, you know, the last step which people really can't even even begin to comprehend really is, you know, the artificial superintelligence is, you know, when they're smarter at everything than the entire collective, you know, collective humanity and, and continuing to self improve. Right. I mean their rate of improvement just goes bonkers. So what are your thoughts on the, on all this stuff, guys? Everything we learned yesterday and, and then of course the, you know, that discussion. I want to, I want to just kind of high level talk through this for a bit. What do you guys think?
Well, I dreamt about it all night. I, I, I could, I literally like my brain was so I could never get my other one to get out of that whatever mode it was in.
Oh, interesting. Did you just start over?
Well, I, I started over with the, my son came in, 22, 23 year old son, and said hey, I heard you mom said you were doing something with a AI tool to build a website. I need you to build new website. So I was like, sit down. And so we built him a website. So cool. But then once we finished, I just thought about all night. It's insane.
That's cool. I want to look at your other project that's stuck in a loop. We're going to see if I can get it out of it today. That's the goal. So that'll be, that'll be a fun, fun little task. What else? What else guys?
I was wanting to keep working on it all night but you know, I had like stuff I had to do. But like, I don't know, it's just really exciting, you know, there's a lot of, I don't know, a lot of potential and I just want to like discover like it seems so easy, you know, So I just want to keep going and like discover how easy it is, you know, or how hard it is. I don't know. But I just want to keep.
The reality is it's probably deceptively easy.
I was questioning, you know, I was like, well, how much? Where's the chink in the armor?
Yeah, exactly.
I'll be able to make the design look like, you know, my ECD buddy can polish stuff or we won't be able to do like, well what? Like there's got to be like, oh, it's already got to get, you know, repo. Let's get repo ready. And like in the file structure I'm like, oh nah man, like where, where's the chick in the Armor here.
Did you find it? Did you find the chick? The chinks are there. They really, they really are guys. Like, I really, I really wanted to be clear that there are.
Design customization is where I have questions today, but I think we're going to cover that.
Yeah, we will, we will. We're going to really get in deep. Right. You know, a lot of replit sites can start out looking kind of similar, but as you start to get in and say, all right, I want it to feel like this. Like you can literally say this. This is a prompt you can use on replit. I want to follow the style guidelines. Buttons, curves, colors, everything from apple.com go implement this on my site, you know.
Or I bet you could give it a legit brand style guide.
100. You can give it a brand style guide. You give it a screenshot. You know, so I'll pay for something like, like a real designer that's still cheap. I'll do it on like fiverr or something. Pay someone like 100 bucks or 150 bucks for like an actual brand style guide or a few. Yeah. And then, and then I drop that in. It's like, oh yeah, give me a second. Like, oh, this looks awesome now. Right. So, but, but again, we're still talking, you know, sub 500 to launch a legit, beautiful website with amazing branding with human input and all kinds of stuff. Like it's, it's, it's crazy. So, yeah, really awesome. What about you, Stephen? What kind of thoughts?
Well, I was, I talked to my friend who's a lawyer and he was like, if we could just get this thing built, I would, I'd pay for it immediately.
Yeah.
So by 6pm it was 90% built and then I spent from 6pm to 3am trying to get the last 10 and I just never. Yeah, yeah, it was just a lot of like trying to. But it's still, it's still really cool. And I also was thinking about motion, I guess light, but there we go. I was also thinking about it all night and then I thought I would sleep in and I didn't. I Woke up at 6:30 and think. Couldn't fall back asleep. Was thinking about it again. Okay, I need to, I think it needs to focus on audio. The life story thing needs to be more audio focused than. Yeah, like draft. Anyhow, that, that's very specific. That doesn't answer the. Necessarily answer the question that you were asking. Like what do you think about this? But that's where my brain is right now.
No, it's Good.
So let's dive. Exciting.
Let's talk about, let's, let's get a little deeper. Right. What does this mean for. And there's no right answer here. Right. I just want to hear what you guys, what your thoughts are. Right. Everything we're talking about here is, you know, probably well educated hypotheses. But what does this mean for society in today? What does it mean for it in three years, five years? Like what's going to happen?
It's hard to predict. But it, because it's changing so fast.
Yeah.
But it does seem like we'll be able to create. Like if anyone can create any idea then that I think that'll be awesome. Or with the barrier to entry being so low, like there'll be so many things created and so many problems solved.
Yeah, yeah. I'm not a believer in a finite pie thing and anybody can learn how to bake a pie. So I think there's going to be a whole lot more pies, man.
I agree. I am definitely of the same opinion, Justin. I, I'm, I believe in abundance and unlimited resources.
Yeah. Basically unlimited.
I mean a lot of people. Right. When you look at it more the positive side, you know, there's, there's 500 million jobs are gonna be lost between now and 2030. Right. I mean that's, that's gonna happen. Sure. How many games? So, but, but people then say okay, but everything will be automated and yeah, you'll be able to launch a 10k a month side gig in, you know, 24 hours and be making money immediately. I mean Steven already got a customer. Right. He doesn't even have the thing finished yet. And we'll get it, we'll get it to the point of it being finished hopefully by tomorrow. And you know, I've got my first customer by the end of the course and then I'm going to use you as an awesome case study. Right. But, but the reality is, you know, things like universal basic income might, might become a thing. Right. Where everybody is taken care of at a certain level. And there's a, you know, the, the minimum standard of living becomes, you know, much higher than it is today. You don't, you kind of get rid of poverty altogether, which is awesome. When you have automation and robots and everything that can take care of the food and the housing and the building and you know, all kinds of stuff. When you apply robotics to AI and asi, right now you're, now you can do anything, right. And it's all done humans, if they're.
Self Rep. Self building, self replicating.
Because totally.
It's like.
Yeah, that's crazy.
Yeah.
Sidebar. Steven, I'd love to connect with you, man. I worked in legal lead gen for 6, 7 years. Still know a little bit of PI stuff and all that. So if you ever want to pick my brain or just connect, let me know.
Yeah, sure. And this was for different. Not a PI lawyer. PI lawyers are coin operating. Much more coin operated than any other.
Lawyer that I know. Yeah, yeah. For all sorts of Justin PI. They're the worst.
But sorry.
Yeah, no, I still wanna. I. Yeah.
James, how does your. And by the way, we'll connect all of you guys. You all have each other's emails. We'll make sure you're all connected by the end. Everybody? Everybody. Oh, oh, okay.
I didn't realize.
We'll make that happen. But, but James, I'm curious. You, you've consulted for Fortune 100 companies for a lot of your career and that's awesome. So I want you to just maybe talk with us a little bit about where your thoughts are in relation to what this means for some of the maybe higher end instead of, you know, we've talked about startups and anybody can start anything. That's great. What about the higher end? What is this going to do? You know, how does this change when you walk into a Fortune 100 at this point? And what would be different?
Well, the price point is going to be different. I mean I think about the 30 or so implementations that I've created in the last 10 years. Some was the price tag of two and a half million dollars.
Yeah.
We re. We rebuilt the entire Schwann's home, food services, web platform, shopping cart experience, everything. And man, and, and we had 40. We had 40 developers at one point and we, we tried to build it in six months. I think we ended in eight. And now I, I think, I mean I'm gonna need some senior developers to like maybe I don't. But in my mind right now to, to actually make the cool stuff cooler and prettier and like, like was already said, but we probably could have built that thing in 10 days. I don't know.
Yeah, with senior, with good senior developers. I agree, I agree that senior developers you could build complex, highly interactive, highly, you know, crazy architecture, but powerful.
No one's gonna believe me.
I agree with you.
I'm gonna walk in there, good developer, better.
Yeah.
And I think guys, there's a market imbalance right now because James, I think you could still walk in and charge two and a Half million dollars or a million dollars for something that may in the past have cost you legitimately $600,000 to accomplish. Now you can do it for $60,000 and still charge a million. So I think that right now, at least for a time, there's going to be quite an imbalance where those that know make a lot of money really fast. And within a few years, it'll start to balance itself out as more people come in and say, oh, I would do that for 100,000. Right. Because they're happy with their little 40,000 profit and, you know, only 20,000 of cost to make the same thing happen as AI continues to even get better and better and better. Yeah.
I'm just gonna have to say we're still going to be six months.
Yeah. You just have 25 projects going on at the same time.
Yeah. That's wild. I mean, this is a wild time. This is the Wild west and it's a new frontier, and this is the six shooter.
Yeah.
Yeah. It really. It really is so good, guys. Well, we don't need to, you know, we don't need to spend the whole class talking about this, but. And you're going to keep talking about it with your families and your kids and your. Your co workers and your team members and whatever, and you'll keep figuring this out, but let's dive in right now, guys. Let's. Let's kick off the day with something fun. Normally, I wait for image generation a little bit later, but we did a lot yesterday and we're kind of cranking along. I want to do a little bit of image generation right now, and we'll do this maybe in a few parts. And then I want to dive in and look at somebody's site and see if there's some problems we can start fixing. And we'll do that a few times today. I want to look at, you know, different. You know, everybody's just a little bit. So that we can. Because you'll learn as we do, right. As we go and we try to fix problems, you'll be like, oh, okay, I have. I've had that same problem. Oh, yeah. That's how I would approach that now. I get it. Right. But just watching, you know, I imagine myself sitting in, like, you know, again, I'm a composer and a pianist and whatever. I imagine myself sitting in a room with like, 20 other pianists. And you've got John Williams up there at the front and he's teaching and, you know, he walks up to one pianist, even though it's not me. And he says, hey, here's what you could do to make this section a little bit stronger, a little bit better. I'm like, oh man, that's amazing. I need to do that. You know, you can apply what other people are doing to what you're doing. So we'll, we'll work on that. We'll share some screens to do some fun stuff. But let's dive in here and let's see here. We're not going to do Illustrator. That just happens to be open. So I had one person ask for a certificate of completion. And so I made it with AI. They wanted it. I was like, here you go, man. Throw it on to me. I'll make something a little bit more, I don't know, some certificate number and keep, keep track of students and things like that. So I still need to build out that system, but it won't take that long. But anyway, hey, that was. This was like third shot on Chat GPT image I actually made. I used the image creation functionality on Chat GPT to do this right. The one thing that it got wrong here, which I just noticed and I need to fix it, obviously for him is Institute is spelled wrong, but super easy to right. All I have to do is just ask it right to fix that thing and it's better. I wonder if Adobe Acrobat can actually fix this. I wonder if I can edit a PDF that's made by AI. That's pretty cool. So maybe that fixes my problem altogether and then I can grab this whole thing here. And here we go.
Just.
Whoops. I don't want to do that. I want to grab. I just want to move this part right here, get that centered a little bit better. And I'm done. Institute. Perfect. I'm ready to send out the new one now. It did do this weird thing here. I don't know what this is going on. So anyway, I'll worry about that later. But guys, the real magic comes in, guys, when you're. By the way, I built a new reset password or password. Password reset functionality on Gen API, which is super cool, right? So if you forget your password now, you can change it. I didn't have that and I built that before, but it's actually more complicated than you think. And the reason it's more complicated than you think is because you have to set up email. You have to set up an email service to make that happen. So you got to API into something like sendgrid and then, you know, have it figure it out and you're Gonna have to debug it. It's not gonna work at first. You're gonna have to try it and test it. And anyway, I got it working. That's pretty cool.
Kind of where I am on my site.
Yeah. Yeah. Cool. Well, we'll work on that a little bit today. I actually want to look at something. Forgot password. Yeah, I forgot password. That's cool. I'm just going to send an email to myself. Send reset link. Yeah. Hey, that worked pretty nice. I actually hadn't tested it on production yet. Now I have, and I'm pretty dang sure it'll work. I'll pull up the email in a second to show you what that looks like and how I. How I debugged it, because I think it's pretty useful. So, guys, image generation. Image generation is, you know, I'll go into my pool pro thing. I'll keep using this. But image generation can be used, obviously, for a lot of things. On a website. You're going to go from, you know, your hero image to, you know, images of your product and things in action that, you know, and. And then even a logo, right? A logo is something that, you know, everybody's going to need as part of, you know, building a business. You're going to need to build that out. Um, and so I want to show. I'm going to start with logos, and then we'll dive into some of the other pictures and things that we like to do. And, you know, so let's. Let's do this. Please help me make a logo for verde. Well, I'll just give it that right again. I always start with a bad prompt, and then we improve from there and figure out how we can. How we can make it better. There's a lot of different tools. Mid Journeys image generation capabilities have improved substantially in the last just even month. They. They released some new things. And, you know, they have this ability now to create, you know, you can change. You can modify existing images to look like different things. How many of you guys have seen a picture of you or one of yourself, you know, one of your friends packaged up like a little toy? Anybody seen those type of images?
Oh, like, going around.
Yeah, that's kind of going around right now. It's pretty neat. It's pretty dang fun. So I'll show you how to do it. It's pretty fun. But. But anyway, right now in logos, ChatGPT is okay at making logos. It's pretty good. It's way better than it used to be. We're gonna use mid Journey. We're gonna use design dot com. We're gonna use a few different tools and play around with a few even Grok. Right. We'll try some different things and prompts and then learn how to get it to be really good. So what is Verity? What does Verity do? You have all of the answers to this in the project already? You're right. Okay. Premium pool building company. Okay, perfect. So now it's kind of making a brief, right? A creative brief for the logo itself. Right. Well, you know, what is it? Brand feel, logo requirements, Next step. Okay, great. Let's see here. I want. Let's. Yeah, let's build it. Symbol +Word Mark. Whoops. Symbol random delete +Word Mark. So it's now going to create an image. And while we're sitting here. By the way, guys, I hate waiting for AIs. I just don't like it. I never sit and watch. I'm going to the next thing. So we're going to bounce over. Actually, you know what we'll do is we'll stay here in chat GPT and we'll copy this. Copy. Okay. So then I'm going to bounce back over to Grok here, jump in right here. We'll click on a new one and we'll go. Please build me a logo based on these requirements. Okay. By the way, guys, you're welcome to have a, you know, have, have a window open to be doing this as you, as you watch me go, I'm not really going to stop and be like, okay, let me give you five minutes to build a logo. Right? So just kind of open it up and kind of follow along. Watch what I'm doing if you want to learn. And then as soon as you're like, okay, I feel like I kind of want to get this going too. Bounce back and forth between watching me chatgpt, Grok, whatever. So these are, these are kind of cool. I mean, it's making like a. It's a drop. It's a water droplet. I don't know if that. Why is it sensitive? Why is this sensitive content? What is it doing here? I really don't know why it's blocking me from seeing this water droplet. Maybe it's a sexy water droplet and doesn't want me to see it. I don't know. I kind of love it actually. Let me see. What's this post image? Let's see if I can go like this. Can you turn this file. Can you see into a more usable digital image? This one looks like it was Drawn by colored pencils. I need the shape. I need the main shape logo to be more simple so I can download it and download it and use my website as logo, fave icon, etc. Right? So I'm just basically saying, hey, I want to see if you can help me make this. I actually haven't used Grok a lot to ask requests like that, so I'm curious whether or not it can do it. One thing that I had, I've had many people do, hey, look at that, guys. That's pretty dang good. I mean, it didn't do it. It didn't do it all the way. I could probably, though, take this and. Yeah, I mean, whatever. It looked actually good when it first started it. And then it's, you know, when you zoom in on it, it's not quite good. But what you can do, guys, is you can take this and you can bounce over to your little fiber buddies and pay someone 5 bucks, 10 bucks to turn this into a nice vector file for you so that you can then, you know, blow it up to be on whatever you need to be on your wrap, on your car or your van or whatever, or your big billboard or whatever you're going to do, or even just to have all the digital files that you need for your website, right? And so you take this, you say, hey, here's what I want. And then they'll be like, great, I got this. They'll turn it back to you, and you'll probably get one revision, and it will literally cost you 10 bucks. But now all of a sudden, you're like, I'm back to building my business. I'm done. I'm done thinking about this, right? And so in 10 minutes, we're, you know, less than 10 minutes, we've got a logo. We're happy with it. It's good enough. I actually really do love this logo. I think it's pretty cool. And. And I think it could do the job, right. It might get. Might be a little too pointy right here. Maybe we don't want that because that might, you know, disappear on embroideries. We might cut it off kind of right here, right? But some minor tweaks to this. And you are. You are rock solid. And again, for those little tasks where you're like, I'm not good at this. That's okay. Jump on Fiverr and pay someone 10 or 20 bucks to make it happen. I mean, literally $5 here. I bet they do fine. You want to pay $10 because this one has a few More reviews. Great. You can. How many guys have ever used Fiverr? Have you guys ever, you know, all done this? Yeah. Like, it's. If you haven't, it's like human AI. It's human AI. It's exactly, exactly what it is. But you can. You can like, say, all right, I want a level. I want a level two seller, right. I want. I want at least that or top rated, apply and then, you know, it'll filter a little bit. And now you might pay a few more. Yeah. So it's still 10 bucks, right? 4.8 average. 1k. 10. 10 bucks. Like, holy cow. Right? So you give it to them and what they'll do is actually go and they'll trace it out. They can do this in 10 minutes. But you don't have to learn how to, you know, be a vector, you know, Adobe Illustrator, you know, expert. Right. Now you don't have to do that. Right? Because what's going to happen is if I come and I download this file from Grok. Guys, this is why it matters. Like, let's say I. Let's say I just really love this, which I. Which I do. I'm going to download it, I'm going to save it here. So now if I. Sorry, let's get rid of the zoom stuff. Okay, here we go. So if I click on this and I. And I zoom in on. I mean, obviously, even without even zooming in on it, it's already kind of grainy. Right. And so I could. There's a couple things I could do. I could use something like Topaz Labs. I could try to. I could try to do that. Topaz Giga Gigapixel AI. I don't want to buy it. I might actually have only been on a free trial of this login. I don't know. Let's see if I can log in. We'll try it. Topaz Labs is pretty dang cool, guys. It's an AI system that can do crazy upscaling on a lot of things. Yeah. I don't even know if I have. If I have a thing. But Topaz Labs does awesome stuff. And you can have it. What do you call it? Just like upscale videos, upscale images. So you might be able to get that done inside of something like this. Topaz is awesome. But what I did, guys, when I built my Gen API, I was like, look, I don't have time to worry about, like, a logo. I don't even have time to do Fiverr tonight. So what I'm going to do is I'm just going to try something else. And so I literally just go to Google and I'm like, free AI logo generator, right? Just to see what came up. And I looked through and I clicked on a few of these things and after about three minutes I landed on design.com. i actually really liked design.com and so I jumped in there and, and I basically just said, okay, hey, you know, I have, you know, let's see, I can give it, you know, verde pools, right? Generate. And so then it says, okay, business name Verde Pools and green sustainable pool.
Sure.
And then, you know, now I've got some pool type logos. Now some of these logos are good, some are not, right? Maybe I like, I, I'm kind of more the abstract side of the world. That's just what I like in terms of a logo. Instead of trying to be like, oh, here's my coconut with, you know, maybe if I'm in Hawaii and I want a, you know, C quality logo, I'll pick that one. But, but there's good options in here, right? Like maybe, maybe the heart is something cool. Maybe I like this one. This is kind of, you know, along that Nike idea, maybe I'd make it a little bit bigger and more, you know, whatever, change the color, make it a little bolder. But that kind of swish, upside down swish is kind of cool. This one right here is nice. I mean, heck, even this one will work as your logo. But this is what I did. This is what I did for Gen Aipi. I jumped in and I went to. I've got design.com right here and it gives me my idea. I had worked on this with ChatGPT. I talked through the logo. Maybe it could be a combination of a brain and some circuits. And that's what I got here. And that came up really quickly. But, but then what design.com allows me to do is to pick a solid background, a transparent background. I could download my eps, my vector file so that I can then open that up. Let's see. I sure don't think this will work, but now I can zoom in on this forever. For those of you who don't know what a vector file is, it allows you infinite zoom to be able to blow this up for whatever you need or take it down to whatever you need. One of the things you got to look at when you're making a logo is how does it look like this, right? Can you, can you identify it? Can you see what it is? Does it make sense? Right, because you're going to see that when you're on a browser up here, right? All these little icons, they're. They're tiny. They got to work for that tiny little thing. Yeah, there's Jenny API. You can see it right there. And we know this is Facebook. We know this is LinkedIn. We know this is X. Right. Really quickly, it's. It's small. And see, this isn't a great one. This is. This is my old. This is funny. This is my old company, Seek, right, That I started back in 2016 and raised $13 million for. This is. I was looking at the web archive, the Wayback Machine, and looking at my old website, and, you know, it's pretty cool. We had some good videos. Anybody recognize this guy? Steven Jones, super funny guy.
I used to use Seek. I used to Seek.
Oh, you used Seek.
I was wandering around with my phone.
That's awesome.
That's getting discounts.
Getting discounts. Getting stuff. Did you ever win anything good.
Like 50 off the goal zero stuff then? I never used it. Yeah, yeah, that seemed like a good discount, but no, that was.
All right. Now the good stuff, like tickets for three days for four people.
No, I don't.
No, we had all kinds of crazy stuff. That was. That was awesome. We'd give away a thousand dollars. We give away all kinds of stuff. So. But anyway, but. But anyway, back to the favicon. This logo right here, you can't even tell what it is. It's just like a square and it says. It says Seek in the middle of it, like this, right? And you can't. You can't quite see that. It's not great. It's not a great fave icon. I'm kind of just looking at these other ones here. They're all pretty dang good these days. Because people know, back then, we weren't really paying attention to that stuff as much, and it wasn't as easy to be like, oh, let's work on the fave icon. I'm like, I'm not going to spend $1,000 or $2,000 or $5,000 of my dev's time to really build the great fave icon. Like, it just wasn't worth my time at that time. At this point in 2017, I'd only. I'd only been, you know, building this for. For maybe two years, and we'd raised maybe a million dollars. I didn't have time to devote to that. Scaling on a lot of things. Yeah, I don't even know if I have. If I have a thing, but Topaz Labs does awesome stuff. And you can have it, you can have it. What do you call it? Just like upscale videos, upscale images and you. So you might be able to get that done inside of something like this. Topaz is awesome. But what I did, guys, when I built my Gen I API, I was like, look, I don't have time to worry about like a logo.
This is kind of, you know, along that Nike idea, maybe I'd make it a little bit bigger and more, you know, whatever. Change the color, make it a little bolder. But that kind of swish, upside down swish is kind of cool. This one right here is nice. I mean, heck, even this one will work as your logo. But this is what I did. This is what I did for Gen Aipi jumped in and I went to. I've got design.com right here and it gives me, you know, my idea. I had worked on this with ChatGPT. I talked through like kind of the logo. Maybe it could be a combination of like a brain and like some circuits. And that's kind of what I got here. And that came up really quickly. But then what design.com allows me to do is to pick a solid background, a transparent background. I can download my eps, my vector file so that I can then open that up. Let's see. I think this will work. But now I can zoom in on this forever. All these little icons, they're tiny. They got to work for that tiny little thing. There's Jenny API. You can see it right there. And we know this is Facebook. We know this is LinkedIn. We know this is X, right, really quickly. It's. It's small and see, this isn't a great one. This is, this is my old. This is funny. This is my old company, Seek, right, that I started back in 2016 and raised $13 million for. This is. I was looking at the web archive, the Wayback Machine, and looking at my old website and, you know, it was pretty cool. We had some good videos. Anybody recognize this guy? Steven Jones, super funny guy.
I used to use Seek. I used to Seek.
Oh, you use Seek.
I was wandering around with my phone.
That's awesome.
Getting discounts.
Getting discounts, getting stuff. Did you ever win anything good.
Like 50 off the goal zero stuff then? I never used it. Yeah, yeah, that seemed like a good discount, but no, that was.
All right. Now the good stuff would be like 10 years tickets for three days for four people.
No, I don't. No, I didn't.
We had all kinds of crazy stuff. That was, that was awesome. We'd give away a thousand dollars. We give away all kinds of stuff. So. But anyway, but, but anyway, back to the favicon. This logo right here, you can't even tell what it is. It's just like a square and it says. It says Seek in the middle of it, like this, right? And you can't, you can't quite see that. It's not great. It's not a great fave icon. I'm kind of just looking at these other ones here. They're all pretty dang good these days. Because people know, back then we weren't really paying attention to that stuff as much. And it wasn't as easy to be like, oh, let's work on the fave icon. I'm like, I'm not going to spend $1,000 or $2,000 or $5,000 of my dev's time to really build the great fave icon. Like, it just wasn't worth my time at that time. At this point in 2017, I'd only. I'd only been, you know, building this for. For maybe two years and we'd raised maybe a million dollars. I didn't have time to devote to that money. Money goes fast right now. If you fast forward, you might find some better ones. So bottom line is, guys, you gotta think about all these different things when you're building a logo. You need something that can blow up, scale down something that looks good, you know, on your hat, on whatever. Something you're excited about. Now, there's some cool logos out there, guys, that are not simple and minimalistic or whatever. Like, almost all icons these days really are quite simple. But there are other cool bogos that people I can wear on T shirts, right? Like Cobra Kai, right? This thing is. This thing is not simple and follows none of the principles that I'm talking about here. But, you know, people like that, people will throw that on a shirt, they'll wear that on their, you know, their little, I don't know, whatever. What's that called? The key or whatever it is. And, you know, they've got it on their. On their little vest here, right? So anyway, guys, this is how highly personal in terms of your logo. And so don't worry too much about it. Just jump in, pick something, you know, move, use good tools, use Fiverr to kind of just work, work the Solution. And within 5 to $10, $20 maybe, and. Or maybe a day of waiting for that Fiverr person to get back to you and some AI prompting back and forth, you can have a pretty dang good logo. The last thing we'll talk about here, we'll show is Mid Journey. How many of you guys have not used Mid Journey before? James Tyler. Okay, yeah, a couple of you guys have. Not so great. Mid Journey is awesome. These are my whale tails. This is supposed to represent flow, and I didn't quite get it. Like flow from a river, whatever was doing some kayaking stuff in the last one. Here are a few different logos. Ravana. This was one for a company that provides insurance for ATVs and, you know, recreational vehicles, types of boats, things like that. And so, you know, this, these were. These were some logo ideas that it came up with. This is some, you know, random football stuff. This was a piano idea that I was working on in another class, a kayaking idea in another class and all kinds of stuff. So anyway, but we could. We could Bring that same. Now, Mid Journey is a little bit different, guys. Mid Journey prompts are, by the way, I believe that Mid Journey is the best. Best at generating images. Out of all of the different things, Mid Journey wins. It's the most artistic, especially if you want, like, really cool images. Like, it can generate, like amazing, amazing angles and different things. Like, this is a really cool picture and it's totally fake, right? This is like a miniature. Like a miniature kayaking view. You know what I mean? Which is pretty dang cool. I think that's pretty awesome. But it can generate highly artistic images that are just amazing. And you can make them real, you can make them not really. You can make them whatever. But the way that you talk to it is a little bit different. These are what the prompts look like. Now, if you don't know how to write a good prompt. Well, this is what I would do. Say create a prompt for Mid Journey V7. I just say V7 because there's different versions and B7 is the latest one for Mid Journey V7 for this, you know, based on. I'm going to say based on the guidelines above. Okay. So it's going to now ask for something, right? And it's going to give it to us in a very specific, you know, way, right? Minimalist luxury logo design for Verde pools, whatever. I might have it get rid of the Verde pools thing and I might just tell it to do this. But let's bounce in back into here, let's paste it, and I'm going to give it this. And it actually didn't do V7. I asked it to V7, but it did V6.1 because it didn't specify. That's okay. So you can.
Is that. Did you. Did you ask GPT to give you a correct style of prompt or.
Yes.
Yeah. All I did. All I did here was I said create a prompt for mid journey v7 based on the guidelines above, right? So it's taking all my style guidelines, right, that we've talked about all these things and. And then gives me, you know, Apple style. Branding meets nature and innovation. Okay, so let's see how it. Let's see how it did here. So here are the four options that it starts with. With the first. The very first. Now, one thing that Mid Journey is bad at, guys, they'll get better at it. It will, but it cannot do text. So you just have to ignore the text, look at the image, pay attention to the pictures, see what you think. Right? So this is. I don't know, this is kind of this is like crescent moons, nested crescent moons that maybe are supposed to act like abstract ripples maybe, you know, kind of interesting. So that's what I think. I'm thinking of moons, and so I don't know if I'm going to land on that one. This one's pretty cool. Like, it needs some refinement for sure, but that could work, right? I would. I would try to get some of these, you know, spaces, maybe to be more even or, you know, line it up, which kind of looks like it's, like, not all the way. Right. So I might send that to a Fiverr guy, have him clean it up. It's kind of whatever. Yeah. So I don't love these. I don't love these prompts. I think they're okay. Or these, These. These logos. None of these beat the one that I saw from Grok so far. So I'll bounce back into Chat GPT and I say I didn't love any of these. Let's get rid. Get rid of the reference. Reference to verde pools. I just want the logo. Try again and remember V7. Okay, so now it will give us a little tag. So Mid Journey allows you to use these little tags of different styles and things that you want. And. And now it's. Okay. Here's a mid journey v7 prompt, right? And it says, no Easter egg vibes. It knows that that's great. Okay. Sophisticated aqua teal color palette. And then here we go. We gave it. We gave it a few. A few prompts here. This might work and it might not. I hope it doesn't work so we can show what to do then. So I asked it for a prompt. Ah, it did work. Sometimes it will give prompts. It'll give little extra things, and it will say, sorry, this failed. Well, a little error message will come up on Mid Journey. And you just copy that error message, take it back to ChatGPT. Say this error message came up paste, boom. And it will say, I'm sorry, let me fix it. And it'll give you a new prompt that will work. These are too complicated for me, for my. My taste. This one looks like fire, but water style. So if you somehow had. I don't know if that was part of your. This is a little bit complex for me. This is. I don't even know what that is. It kind of almost looks like that. The. The treble clef, you know, on music. So I don't know. That could be cool. So I. Okay, it's going for a few different things. This is like Google Earth but water and like, almost like it just had a weird designer. I don't know. So none of these are that great. I think they're okay. I think they're just okay. So I can keep working this. I'm not going to do it. I'm not going to refine it anymore, guys, because this is up to you to go and play with this. Mid Journey is a. I think there is a monthly subscription. What are Mid Journey pretty prices. Let's just make this Mid Journey pricing. Yeah, 10 bucks a month. That's probably what I pay for. It's more than enough for what you guys are going to do. And, you know, if you want to go up to like crazy mega plans where you're making just thousands and thousands and thousands of images, you could make hundreds of images a month with the $10 plan. Okay, so Mid Journey is pretty cheap if you want to use it. And you can pay for one month and cancel whatever you want to do. Design.com just FYI, I probably paid 30 or 40 bucks for my logo in here, right? It says Free logo generator. Yes. But then when you want to use it and get all those cool files that you need, it asks you to pay. And they do it kind of in a weird way where it's like, yeah, you buy it, you have to like, sign up for membership and then you can cancel immediately. And so that's what I did. I paid 30 or 40 bucks and canceled immediately. Got my. Got all my things and. And then I have. But then I have. It's weird because after you've paid for it, you can still log in and download your files for as long as you want. You don't have to have an active membership, for example, to keep using it. So anyway, any questions on Logos guys, or any of these image generators, we're going to kind of just stop right here for now on this. But what do you guys. Any thoughts or questions about how to use.
Just seems like there's a lot of opportunity to go back and forth and retweak and then use multiple engines to help you to both describe what you want and create a new version or new images of what you want.
