We feel so fragmented, we feel so separate that the media tells us that we're so opposite of each other when we're so alike in so many ways. And why not build strengths on what we're alike rather than fixating on what's wrong? Own your future. Because if you don't, someone else will. Welcome back to the Own youn Future podcast. Heck, if you don't own your future, someone else will. And this is the behind the scenes edition. And oh, I got some scoop to talk about. Mr. Matthew McConaughey. I think I know a little something you don't. I was blessed to be able to get to spend a lot of time with him over the last couple months and about five days straight working in our office here till late each night. Kidding aside, there is no scoop that I would share that he hasn't already publicly shared or something I know compliments him because he is one heck of an awesome dude. Listen, I'll tell this real quick, but I read his book Green Lights and I got done. I said I want more and the world needs more. Matthew McConaughey, you know, and Tony Robbins and myself have been in this space of creating courses and workshop and live events collectively for 65 years. Me personally, 27. And when I got done reading that book, I wanted more. I thought the world wanted more. So I was lucky enough to have a mutual friend. We got in contact. I sent him a voice memo. He sent one back. And we got to spend time together to figure out how we can take Greenlights, his book. If you haven't read it, you should or listen to it, it's even better. But how do you take that from a great inspiration and how do you transcend it to help people transform? And that's what we talked about. That's what we spent a lot of time and in that time of working together, in that time of planning the April 24th event where you cannot miss, you can go to living L I v I n2023.com live in2023.com and register for that event. Depending on when you're hearing this podcast, it's April 24, 2023. You shouldn't miss it. But he really was so intrigued on he how he could impact more lives. Now I got to tell you, I'm going to back up a little bit and share some things. First off, what he said to me was he was so shocked. You know, he's done 55 movies, Oscar winner, Golden Globe winner. He was so shocked at the feedback he got where people literally changed their life because of his book. And he said he really enjoyed people getting to know the real Matthew McConaughey, not the character he played. And he really enjoyed even more helping out a world where he feels as fragmented. I got this for him. And where he said, in the last three years, they've done nothing but move the goal post on us. Now, if you haven't listened to the interview with Matthew, go back and listen to it right now. Literally, as soon as we're done here, go listen to it. When you're done, share it with three friends. Because it's that good. And I'll say it's that good. Not because of me, because of him, but getting back to him. He has this overwhelming desire to try to bring the world back together again. It truly hurts his heart that we feel so fragmented, we feel so separate, that the media tells us that we're so much. We're so opposite of each other when we're so alike in so many ways. And why not build strengths on what we're alike, rather than fix fixating on what's wrong? He hates that people give up on their dreams, that they don't allow hope to stay in their mind. They don't drive forward. They listen to the naysayers, all those things. He's bitten by the bug. I was bitten by this bug 27 years ago. He's bitten by the bug. And now he's working to take his message to another level and work with great people like Tony Robbins and others to really let the message down. So what do I want to share behind the scenes of who this guy is? Fun as hell. Fun as hell. His number one thing he requested, if we do business together, work together like we have, and doing this amazing event together is. It's got to be fun. Guess what his number two priority was? It's got to be impactful. Got to change some people's lives. You know what his number three was? I don't want people to think I know it all. I'm not getting straight A's and everything, but I have learned a lot. That's what he said. He goes, I'm not getting straight A's, but I have learned a lot, and I know we can help people. He's like, I just want to. I want to be people's co pilot to help them navigate and drive in a better direction. Because the fact of the matter is, we all want more. He wants to show people how to have more fun, more love, more acceptance, more admitting, more of you, more of the things that we crave and sometimes we don't know how to get there, we don't know how to start. And that's the whole goal of the 24th. But there's something else. I want to share the guy's work ethic and his passion. If anybody ever said to you, hey, find something you're passionate about and then you'll never work a day in your life, you could learn that from this guy, I have to tell you we, we ended up spending, laying out this event and next level pieces that he's working on. Unbelievable. What's coming. It's going to blow your mind. We worked every day from morning till 9, 10, whenever it took at night, super late to get it done. And I remember it was a Friday night and we were three days in already working non stop and we had scheduled to go to dinner, Matthew and I and our wives, I mean and it was nice to have a break and I found this great place. It's got a private wine cellar that we would go to. You guys stand, I was excited to go. It would have been private. The food he liked, nice bottle of wine waiting. No more than one glass. But a bottle of wine had it all dialed in. It was about 8 o' clock at night and he said, should we go to dinner? Should we keep working so we can make this perfect? I said man, man after my own heart, let's cancel dinner. Let's keep working. Sometimes when we see somebody getting ahead. People's Sexiest man of the year movies Married to a beautiful woman. Inside and out. Incredible children, family. All, all the things you see that somewhere deep inside you might think, man, did he have a leg up. Did he have something gifted to him? Was it easier for him? Hell no. He had just as many obstacles as the rest of us. Just as much self doubt, loss, losing his dad in the middle of his first movie. All kinds of things. But what he found is a way to shift his mindset. He found a way to focus on things that drove him forward. Those things that made him not blame anybody else, that he took responsibility, focused on where he wanted to go and the man he wanted to become. Did you see his Oscar speech where he said his hero is him in 10 years because he always wants to grow, he always wants to evolve, he wants to look back and use that past as fuel but surely not the anchor. All the little things we've heard so many times, right? The little things but actually become the big things. So high level today, you know, these, these own your future behind the scenes really, just to share what I get to know. I don't get to know all. All the people I interview. Like, I got the chance to know Matthew and spend a month getting to know each other on zoom and then four or five days together in person every single night. Working. Is a man who loves his wife dearly, loves his children dearly, which many of us, husband, spouse, we do. But something you might not know. The man when no one's watching. When his wife walks in a room, she's still in his eyes. I could see his glow like. Like he just met her yesterday. It's pretty cool and inspiring. I get to do it. My wife and I love it. A man whose work ethic is off the charts, you wouldn't think it. He puts the time in a man who has a purpose, that he wants to impact lives and change others and have fun and will do whatever it takes to get there. A man who doesn't really give a shit what anybody thinks of him. He gets to live life on his own, you know, to his own horn. Is that, is that the right saying? I don't even know. Playing to his own fiddle. I don't know. I don't know. Saying someone who in the middle, while you're talking to him, disappears and you hear the bongos playing, you hear the drums playing, he's in there playing drums to get in the mood. It was an amazing opportunity to get the chance to know somebody. I. I watched all his movies. Like most of us, I admired him from afar. But man, I definitely like the man Matthew McConaughey better than any character I've ever seen him play. And you are, too. So I hope you had the chance to listen to the podcast. If you didn't, go back and listen to it right now. Share it with some friends, and then make sure you register@living L I V I N2023.com register for his free event. It's only happening once. It's me. It's Tony Robbins. It's Matthew McConaughey. It's my friend Trent Shelton. It's Marie Forleo. And it's a day to provide you some skills, some tools, so you can start living into the man or woman you were meant to be. Go get that more you deserve. I'll see you on April 24th.
