John Mayer lied... you can't wait on the world to change [Motivation for TODAY]

Dean Graziosi argues you can't wait for the world to change before taking action. He pushes back on the idea that external circumstances need to shift first, instead making the case that stepping out of your comfort zone is how you actually succeed.

This is an easy time to wait. Wait and see what happens, wait and see what changes. Wait and see how things get better. And those who wait, unfortunately, this is a time you're left behind in a big way. Here's the thing. In times of uncertainty, we want certainty. We want to take care of our family. But simultaneously, you're so scared and your confidence is ding, just a little, that we kind of sit back waiting to see where the chips fall, and you can't. You see, I believe in times like this, we must be the leaders that God, whoever you believe the universe designed us to be. I believe we have to take the uncomfortable action that we've been waiting on. We must take uncomfortable action. Going from where you are to where you want to be is never comfortable. If it was comfortable, if it was easy, everyone would be doing it, right? We have to step out of our comfort zone. But let's just say it like it is. You felt this way before, and you didn't do what you needed to do to make it happen. You got to a certain point and your comfort zone ran out. And you're like, let's wait to see what happens. We've gotten so close to the. And it's the things that we feel comfortable with. We'll keep moving forward. And then, oh, my God, I gotta invite some people over. Oh, my God, I gotta make a phone call. Oh, my God. I gotta stand up in front of anybody. You know what? Let me just push it off till next week. Let me push it off to next month. Who in here, if you're really honest in the chat, who in here has pushed something off until next week or next month? And a year went by, like, if you're really honest. And a year went by, and then all of a sudden you go, oh, shit. And you go back in and something inspires you, or you hear somebody making money or someone you started with, they didn't give up, and you're like, shit, they're making 50 grand a month. Excuse my language. I know we got some kids here, right? Darn. They're making 50 grand a month. We started at the same time. How did they do it? And you're thinking there's an unfair advantage or something else. It's really. Let me just boil this down. We must take advice from people who've already been there, right? That's the first thing. But number two, we also sometimes resort back and say, I'll figure this out on my own. You know that that's not the case in today's rapidly moving world, you can't keep up. Third thing, I wrote down, a lot of these I wrote down just now, watching you guys for a day is once we gain those capabilities, then we actually have to do something with it. And that is the uncomfortable action. Whether you need an accountability partner, you need to be a part of something bigger than yourself. We need to be plugged in, because if you're not, it's easy to avoid the things you don't want. It's like starting a business and you love everything about it, but maybe you don't like selling. It'll never work in the history of the world. So we need to gain those capabilities, gain that comfort and move on.
