The Money Audit For More Success

Dean Graziosi says audit your spending and shift money from status symbols to education, experiences, health, and relationships. He shares how a daily kombucha habit and a disappointing west-coast house taught him that possessions fade fast but moments with your kids and investments in yourself stick around.

Where do you really want to go? And then are you spending enough money in the right direction to get there? With all the opportunities that exist today, why haven't you reached your next level of income, life, and wealth? In most cases, we've been lied to. We've been told that if you find the right opportunity and you work hard, you can be successful, and that's simply not true. Millionaires, billionaires, and successful people have realized you need the foundation for wealth, the habits. And that's exactly what you'll be learning on the Millionaire Success Habits podcast. All success starts here. So what are you spending your money on? Hey, it's Dean Graziosi. Welcome to the Millionaire Success Habits podcast. I'm sitting in my studio today. I've been filming all morning, and I just had a message I wanted to share with you guys. I'm sitting here. You can't see me if you're listening, but if you're watching a video, you can. I'm sitting here holding a bottle of Synergy Organic Kombucha. It's the trilogy. If you drink kombucha, I love the trilogy. I'm kind of obsessed with it. I. I drink at least one of these a day. I just checked. They're $3.19 one a day. It's about $95 a month, and I wouldn't change it for anything. I feel like it's healthy. It feels like I'm cheating even though there's no sugar in it. No, I don't own kombucha. I don't own a piece of it. I don't get paid if you buy it. So why am I sharing that? Well, I also buy. Probably drink two green teas a day. So I probably spend a couple hundred bucks a month between kombucha and green tea. So you're like, okay, Dean, get to the point. My point is this. What are you spending your money on? The reason I'm sharing this is because I see so many people, especially online today, where there's so many people showing wealth through the fancy cars, through the private jets, and I've been blessed to have all of that. But I realized the incremental happiness of certain things don't pay off as much as you think. Now, what do I mean by that? I remember hearing a story where this couple wanted their whole life, their. Their dream, their desire, their whole life was to move to the west coast and get a house on the ocean. Well, they saved up their whole life pushing their. They were. They were delaying their happiness, delaying their gratification. Until they got this house, they get this house, they move in. It's paradise. It's heaven. The first month, every night, they're watching the sun go down, watching the sunset, having a glass of wine, toasting, baby, we made it. Fast forward six months. This is a true story. At least the person who told me this story said it was a true story. Six months later, the wife was like, honey, we have to get blinds put on the west facing windows. It's so annoying. Every night when I'm cooking, the damn sun is coming through the windows. And it's so hard to pay attention. Wow. Their whole life to watch the sunsets over the ocean became annoying. So we have to watch what we're spending money on and make sure. Is that feeding some significance that we're trying to prove to someone else? We're trying to prove that we made it. We're starting to show off the Rolex, show off the Lamborghini. Listen, I think everyone, if you need to go through that phase, but here's the same thing I tell my kids and I want to tell you, figure out what success means to you on the deepest level possible. I went through the fancy watch phase of my life. I have hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of watches. I don't wear any right now, not that I'd criticize anyone who does. I wear T shirts all the time now. I have thousand dollar sports jackets because I went through that phase. But what I'm realizing, and I'm realizing a little bit later in life, that's why I want to give it to everybody, no matter what age you are, is that the moments in between are where the magic lives. So I asked you what you were spending money on. I want you to make sure you're investing enough money into you, into your personal growth, into the business you have, or into the business you want to create, or into growing yourself. So you could be an intrapreneur, if that's the right word, like grow within your company. I don't care where you want to grow, but you need to grow. And I want to make sure you're spending money on things that give you an roi. Either an ROI on wisdom, an ROI on success, ROI on memories, an ROI on happiness, an ROI on health. So I'm thinking, I mean, what I was thinking even in my own life, and I want to share with you, is you need to create an audit of where your money is being spent. Because here's what I know. I'm so far from cheap. I don't stress about money. I didn't stress about money, spending it for other people, especially when I didn't have any. When I was paying on credit cards to help other people out, I always had this feeling, I know I can create more. Now, do I worry about it? Of course. Or I have in the past, but I always knew I could create more money. But when I look back, I realize how much money got spent on things that mean nothing. And now I spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on my own education. I go to at least 10 to 12 masterminds every single year. And every time I go, oh, my God, I'll gain capabilities on how to go faster on Facebook or write a book quicker or how to market better or how to invest in new real estate in new industries. Or I'll get a tip from a guy who's an amazing dad or a mom who's in a great relationship and blow my mind. Like, I came here to make more money, but I got a tip on how to bond with my daughter better father daughter bonding. This guy's amazing boom. Like exponential growth through learning from other people. Now, this podcast is probably less condensed than anyone you've ever listened to. Maybe it seems I'm all over the place, but I'm not. Because what I'm trying to do is get you to focus. First off, figure out what success means to you. Where do you really want to go? And then are you spending enough money in the right direction to get there? We'll spend money on stupid stuff like, I love this kombucha. I held it up. It might not be stupid. I love it. I'll continue to spend money on it. But are you spending money in areas that can take you in the direction you want? Or are you wasting money on things that'll never mean anything? Not that the house on the west coast is a great example, but there are so many things you're striving for. That fancy green Lamborghini, the Rolex watch that once you have, your happiness will not go up consistently. You might get a buzz for a week. That's okay. Buy it. But don't make the Rolex or the car or the house be the thing that you think once you're there, you have arrived. No, it's the moments in between. And when I say that, I'm digressing. I'm sharing a lot in this one podcast. As I look back on my life right now, I know that I raced a lot of my life. When I get to a million, oh, my God, I want to get to 2 million. Oh, my God. I want to get to 50 million. Oh, my God. I want to get to 100 million bucks. Oh, my God. We went to this vacation spot. What's the first thing we're doing? O this was fun. What's the next thing? I was always looking to what's next? I wish someone would have told me this message and shared it then. What am I spending my money on? And what moments should I be enjoying to slow down and recognize now? This weekend, I went away with my kids and I know I took them fly fishing. And in the old days, I'd drive to a spot, try no fish, race as fast as I can because the next one could be better than the next one. You know what I did this weekend? We got to a spot and my kids were just happy. They were playing and I was noticing they didn't give a shit about catching fish. They loved the moment, the experience. And I just sat there and we fished for like two hours in one spot, did not catch a fish, and had the best time of our lives because we enjoyed the moment in between, right? I had guides. I cut the check for guides. That was important to me. I wanted my kids to learn how to fish from some people that were a pro. How to know where to cast, how to catch the fish, how to take them off the hook. I mean, I fished my whole life, but I wanted to pros to show them how to really fish. I'll pay for education. I'll pay to go faster. But I realized even if we took a helicopter and did all that fancy stuff, the moment in between was the experience of being there with my kids in the mountains with a perfect lake and them learning how to cast. And that was worth $100 million to me. It was worth more than a private jet, worth more than a Rolex. I'm not trying to give you a lesson on life or condemn you if you want those things, not even a little bit. But what I'm saying is this message all over the place means simply boil it down, figure out what success means to you, and go after that. And don't worry about the other stuff. Experiences. Remember the moments in between. They're priceless. Yes, money can make all those things easier. So go after it. But spend the money you have on things that are smart. Make sure, take an audit. What are you spending money on? Can you gain more education? Can you gain more wisdom? Can you get in a mastermind group? Can you learn? Can you hire a mentor? Can you start that business? Can you sacrifice here that doesn't really move the needle of your happiness to plant apple trees. I always say planting apple trees sucks. You plant them, they don't produce fruit for six to 10 years, but once they do, they produce forever. Are you planting any apple trees in your life? Are you looking for the instant gratification? Right? So think about all those things I was all over the board and decide this week. Are you spending money on the right things? Do you really know what success is? Do you realize that some of the things that you might be striving for will give you a bump of happiness for a week, a month, six months, but they're not sustainable. You being the best version of you, you understanding what success means and you gaining the knowledge and the wisdom to get there will fulfill you in ways that I could only emphasize with all of me, with all my enthusiasm, are the way to pure happiness, to pure abundance at the end of your life. You could say, I've made millions and I lost my family. I made millions. I don't have any friends. Or you could say, I made millions and I lived life with fruitful relationships, with fruitful experiences, and I put my money in the most important places to get me there.
