This ONE Habit Is Crippling Your Success

Dean Graziosi says chronic dishonesty and gossip cripple your growth. He stopped speaking negatively about his ex-wife and found it earned him more respect and freedom. Try this: don't say anything about anyone for a week that you wouldn't say to their face.

If you're around a friend, a co worker, someone who works with you, a partner, and when they leave, you talk bad about them when they're not there. Those things aren't hurting the universe. They're hurting you. Welcome to the Dean Grazios Show. All success starts right here. For this podcast today, I want to talk about complete and utter transparency, honesty, and how that can positively impact your income, your life, your wealth, your happiness, your joy, your success overall. Listen, I think so many people are so used to being different people in different circumstances that maybe we don't consider it lying. But are we doing brutal transparency? I guess, is the brutal honesty. Are we? Because I know my life went to another level when I just became honest. I share pretty openly, especially on these podcasts, that in my business life, I was so transparent. Transparent with my employees, my team members, my customers, my clients, my marketing, my training is just. I just exude transparency. And I want to get better at it continually. I want to be authentic at the deepest level possible. I think that's the connection that. I think that's the reason these podcasts are growing so fast. Instagram's growing so fast. I don't like the hype. I just like real. But I have to tell you, in my personal life, I wasn't that transparent. My marriage, even though I love being a dad more than anything in the world, even though my now ex is still a great friend and a wonderful human being, our relationship hasn't been good in over five years. And I hid that. I didn't talk about it. I did so many things to avoid it and not be brutally honest. Because when I went towards being brutally honest, there was pain, so I'd back off. And it seemed easier to kind of pretend to live a lie, to tuck it into a compartment and put a lock on it. And I was wrong. And I look at that with my businesses and in your life, if you are holding back a secret, if you have people in your life that you wish you could be transparent with, wish you could tell them what's on your mind, but you don't. That's okay. If you. If you're around a friend, a coworker, someone who works with you, a partner, and when they leave, you talk bad about them when they're not there, those things aren't hurting the universe. They're hurting you. They're holding you back from this next level that it's hard for me to equate. Like, I want to quantify this for you guys, and sometimes I can. Sometimes I can quantify if you do this in marketing, you get this results, do this with sales, get this results, do this with focusing on solutions. All these things I can quantify an outcome. But I'd like you to trust me here. I want to challenge you this week to create another level of honesty in your life. Now, I'm not talking about being transparent overnight and being rude to people. There's a complete difference about being rude than there is about being honest. But I would like you to dabble or even push the envelope in honesty this week. I would like you to think about everything that comes out of your mouth. If you're talking about someone, if they were there, would you say the same thing? Think about that. I want to share with you on a personal note. I made a pact with God, the universe, whatever you believe. I made a pact with God and I said, no matter what goes on in my relationship, my ex and I split and we've become great friends and my kids are thriving, thank God. That was my biggest fear. I had anxiety for a year straight thinking that all the great work we put in would fall. That I had anxiety thinking I would miss him so bad I wouldn't be able to breathe without him. But during that separation, of course, when a divorce, even when you're trying to be friends, it's still hard. You're splitting a life, you're splitting revenue, you're splitting kids. It's crazy. But I made a pact with God and I said, I will not say one negative thing about my ex, no matter what she does to anyone. I will talk always as if she's next to me. And I know without me telling her, she knows it. She knows I'm never going to say, well, it didn't work out because she was lazy. It didn't work out because she did this or did that. And I'm just making stuff up. I don't. And I'm telling you, the payback that I've gotten from that is respect from her and this freedom that I can't explain to you. So this week, a couple of things. I challenge you. What if this week you didn't say anything about anyone that you wouldn't say in front of their face? You go to say, well, I can't believe you. Of course he's not here because he's late. No, I'm not going to say that. Hold that back and watch this freedom it gives you. Like, I think we feel somewhat guilty when we say those things, or maybe we say them because we know we're not perfect. The Whole, you know, casting stones. Let he cast a stone that has no sins. Right? Don't cast stones because we're not perfect. We all fib. We all exaggerate. We do those things, but that's one thing. So I challenge you. Do not say anything about a person this week that you wouldn't say in front of them. Watch how that feels. Secondly, tell someone in your life the truth. Tell them if they're failing. Tell yourself the truth. Tell the people around you. Tell coworkers. But find a way to do it with class. Find a way to do it with empathy. But find a way to realize that telling the truth solves problems. Brutal honesty, transparency, authenticity, sets your soul free in a way that, again, I can't quantify. I could just say to you, you need to try it. What if it's just one week of your life where you don't. Again, you don't talk about people. One week of your life where you tell the people in your life what you really feel, just in the best way possible. What if you are open to hearing the truth from other people about you? And instead of getting defensive, instead of letting your ego take control, you go, wow, could some of this be true? I've done so much of this, going through a divorce and wanting to be friends with my ex and. And want my kids to thrive, that I learned so much about me and I feel I'm on a completely different level. And I want that experience for you. So brutally honest and transparent this week. Try it. See how it sticks. And remember, all success starts here. What's up? What's up? Hey, before you go, you need to watch these next few videos. They're absolute game changers.
