Sometimes we give up. Sometimes we don't even realize the day that we stopped fighting for who we are supposed to be and we've settled for who we are. Welcome back to the Own youn Future podcast behind the scenes edition where we pull back the curtain on the previous week's interview which was Tom Bilyeu, the co founder of Quest Nutrition. You know the Quest bars in every store you go in. A billion dollar company that he created, exited, started multiple other companies with self doubt, with insecurities, not feeling he's smart enough. And it was pur fire. If you have not listened to it, I'd say stop right now, come back and listen to this later. Go listen to that interview with Tom Bilyeu. He's one of my dearest friends, he's an amazing human being and he is so smart sometimes he had me thinking. So don't miss it. And thanks again this week. We are currently the number one podcast in the world in our category and that's because of you. Thank you for sharing, for liking right now. If you're not already, why don't you follow subscribe and let someone else know about it. Especially if we earn your trust today, if we earn a little respect by delivering capabilities. I want to talk about the dark side. No, I'm not talking about Star Wars. I'm talking about going wherever it takes to get the momentum you need to move forward. Listen, the hardest part of any journey, the hardest part of starting something new, to launching the business, to starting the new career, it's always the beginning. It's always the launch pad. It's all, it's always the, the first, the rocket. Getting the first foot off the ground takes so much energy. When it's out in space, you hit the button, the rocket takes off. So how do we get the momentum in a, in a world where we're worried about the American currency, if you live here in America, we're worried about the diversity. We're worried about a recession. We're. We have so many things plaguing us ever since COVID more than ever. Just a magnifying glass on some things that were already there. How do we take that? Plus we have our own insecurities, our own self doubt, our own imposter syndrome and you compound the two of them. How do we move forward boldly Be brave. Well, be brave. How do I just survive? Some of those thoughts go in our head and we have to be able to cut through the noise, cut through and see the path to our next level and then take the Uncomfortable action it takes to get there. And sometimes to get the rocket off the ground, to get the momentum. Momentum to take bold action. We have to go to the dark side. Well, that's what Tom Bilyeu called it. I say we have to put everything in our toolbox that we possibly can to keep moving forward. Listen, I would bet to say, can we just be honest? It is healthier to have a compelling future, to create a vision board, to meditate on a daily basis and meditate with abundance. Meditate on who you're becoming, who you want to become, what you're going to achieve. And I am not making fun of any of that. That is all stuff that if you can do and you should do and you. It should be a part of your process. And a compelling future is a must. Do it for love. Do it for respect. Do it for freedom. Do it for control of your calendar. Do it for the thing that you want the most. If we look forward, if it was a year from now and it was the best year of your life, what would the best year of your life look like? And use that as fuel. But sometimes it's not enough. Let's be honest, if it was enough, you'd already be there, wouldn't you? Sometimes we give up. Sometimes we don't even realize the day that we stopped fighting for who we are supposed to be and we've settled for who we are. So what is the dark side? Sometimes we gotta go on the other side and create the pain in our body of not taking action. What if you don't start the business? What if you don't quit the job that's killing you? What if you don't stop the toxic relationships? What if you don't? Where will you be? Listen, some of it. Can we just be really transparent? Some of it's ego. If that's what it takes, use it. Some of it is the pain of being embarrassed, of saying you wanted something and not getting. You'll look stupid in front of other people. Use it. Some of his. When you were young, maybe your parents or friends or family said you weren't good enough, you weren't smart enough. You'd never mount to anything. You'd never do your own thing. You're too lazy, you're insecure. That's what Tom's mom told him. He was too lazy. That's painful. Use it. Go to the dark side. Listen, when things are the toughest for me, I resort to I never want to go backwards. I never want to be the. I never want to have the troubles my parents did about money. It's all they ever worried about and they didn't have any of it. They had money controlled them. They didn't control money. Money lack of money controlled their decisions. They weren't in charge of their decisions. They weren't in charge of their hours or what they did because someone else was in control of it. Hence, own your future is probably the name of my podcast. Because I want to own my future and the because my parents didn't. And if I don't own my future, someone else will. And when someone else owns your decisions, how can you truly live into the man or woman you're supposed to be? So go to the dark side. If using all the pleasant and abundant thoughts has not got your rocket off the ground, then what I shared in the podcast with Tom that you have to listen to is like turbo, you should have the dark side ready to hit the nitrous oxide button or the turbo button in your car. If you hold the turbo button. If you hold the nitrous oxide button in a car, it'll blow up eventually. If you ever raced on video games, you can't hold the turbo button the whole time. It just wears out. But just save it for the times you need to launch. So what was painful in your life? Well, this is a pleasant Thursday, isn't it? What was painful in your life? What don't you want back in your life? What do you want to avoid? What do you not want in your life that was maybe similar to what your parents had, or your prior relationship or your prior business? What was painful that you're trying to avoid when really you need to expose it? If it's a cut, pour salt on it. Let it be painful. Because if you don't take the uncomfortable action, if you don't move forward, then you are guaranteed to get what it is you currently have. In fact, probably less. Because if we're not climbing, we are sliding. So that was a long way to say, and I'll repeat what Tom Bilyeu said. The universe gave you all of these tools and gave you all of these experiences. Use all of them to get the momentum to get from where you are to where you want to be. That's our quick message for our Thursday behind the scenes, Tom Bilyeu is an incredible human. I know him as a business leader. I know him as a friend. I know him as an incredible husband. And he is someone who delivers so much value.
