Dean Graziosi explains two motivational orientations—moving away from pain (escaping problems) versus moving toward goals (seeking improvement)—and urges viewers to identify which motivates them. He also discusses how learning styles (preference for structure vs novelty) affect how people engage with programs/coaching and how recognizing one’s style helps choose the right approach.

Some of you in this room are moving away from a place of pain. You're moving. You want to move away from worrying about the bills. You want to move away from fighting with a spouse about money. You want to move away from pain. You want to move away from something. So you may have bought my book off TV and got came here today or got involved in our mentor program and the real estate success academy because you're moving away from something, which is awesome because it's still your motivation to take action. When they talk about moving toward person, moving towards means life's not so bad, but I still want more. And all of that still happens. You might be a move away person right now. You do your first two deals, you pay your bills off, all of a sudden you're a move towards person. But when you realize that, you can identify what your purpose is and why you're doing it. So if you say, yeah, I am a move away person because I am sick of what, whatever, fill in the blanks. So you might be a. And it was good to combine them two, you might be a same this person. You need structure, but you want to move away from the pain you're at. You just know you got to learn in a way, this way. So if you're working with one of our coaches or you're working in one of our programs and you want to make an inbound call to one of our coaches and talk to them and say, hey, I might have a little trouble because I need to learn this way or it's too structured for me, I need to learn this way. So really take the time to identify and you might not use it for months, but if you really know if you're a same, this move away or a difference move towards person, I think if you label yourself, whatever you do and you being a teacher for all those years, I'm sure you saw kids that learned that same way. There was some kids bouncing all over the room, didn't pay attention, you didn't think, didn't bring their books home, but they still got a 90 where the other kid that was there writing everything down step by step wasn't doing well. You know, am I right by saying that there's a variety of kids and we're just big kids, so realize how you learn the best and make sure whatever you bring into your life follows that model.
