Weekly Video Blog #65 - Are You Smack Dab In Between "Freedom" and a "Life Trap!"

Dean Graziosi's weekly vlog contrasts being stuck in a 'life trap' with achieving 'freedom' using an exercise he learned from Dan Sullivan: most people (illustratively 95%) are held down by negative momentum, 1% live with upward freedom, and a middle ~4% move upward by taking action. Dean shares student Matt Larson's story as an example of leaving the trap via real estate, and issues a call-to-action to learn through his programs and the Live Edge event.

Hey, everybody. Welcome back to the weekly blog. I'm Dean Graziosi. Hey. Last week I was at my 25k group meeting. That's exactly what it's called. I paid $25,000 a year to go three times a year to hang out with some really smart businessmen, people who are all in the business of helping other people like you achieve a bigger future. And we get together and brainstorm some great stuff. Now, this week or last week, when I was there, there was a gentleman there named Dan Sullivan. He owns a company named Strategic Coach, and he charges people about 15 to $20,000 a year, top entrepreneurs, to take them from where they are to where they want to go. And let me tell you, he's one of the smartest entrepreneurs and one of the smartest people I've ever met in my life. Not just book smart, but he can see where the path and the plan, where your path and plan needs to go to get you from where you are to where you want to be. And there's an exercise we did with him that I'm going to share. It's his exercise and it just opened my mind up and I wanted to share it with you because it's eye opening. So let's just take a second. Here's what he made me do. He drew a line like this and then he drew an arrow, okay? And he put 95%. And what he called this was life trap. Okay? And over here he put. Let's just use the number $75,000 with. With force going down. What does this all mean? 95. Let's just. I'm just going to use the number $75,000. 95% of people are stuck in a life trap. You're stuck in an industry trap. You're stuck at a job. You're stuck in the 95% of what everybody does. And let's just take that as $75,000. You make that or less. Now you can make more, you can make less. Adjust accordingly. You'll get the point. But what you have is negative forces pushing you down, the universe pushing you down. Because you're stuck in this trap. You're stuck in the rat race. You're stuck driving to work in a certain route. You're stuck in traffic. You're stuck behind a boss that you know you're smarter than, or you're stuck with no job or stuck with bad credit. Well, you don't have to be stuck, folks. What I'm saying, though, is this is where most people reside. Now. This is all going to make sense in a second. I'm not trying to make you feel bad. Then he went up here with a green, another arrow, and he put 1%. And up here is freedom with upward momentum. And 1% of America lives the life they're supposed to, makes the money they want. Whatever this number is, you could put it up here at 150,000 a year or a million a year. Whatever number you want to apply up here, you can. But what do you have up here? You have upward momentum. You have freedom. You're living the life you're supposed to be living. Now, again, this doesn't seem like much right now, but here's the whole point, which totally blew me away. The whole point is 95 and 1 is 6. 4% of the people live in here because they're here, but they want to go here. You know who the 4% of these people are? You, because you took action and bought my book. You're not satisfied being in life's trap. You're not satisfied with negative momentum pushing you down, telling you that's all there is. Looking at a job. You know, I just interviewed Matt Larson. In fact, I'm going to run a clip of my interview with Matt Larson. If you don't know who he is, he's one of my successful students. Love Matt. Great guy. I sat him right here in the studio and interviewed him and got some great stuff. I'm going to run a clip of him when we're done. But I sat right here and you know what inspired him when he was in Life's Trap? He was working in a machine shop and the machines were lined up and he could see like 20 people working down a row. And he said he looked down the row one day and he saw people that were there a year, up to 10, 12 years, none of them happy and none of them making much more than he was working. He was working 75 hours a week. And that day he just said he is done. He was sick of being down here in the 95% and he was on his way up. Where's Matt? He's a millionaire. He's retired. He spent this winter in Florida, living in a hotel, enjoying his life. He said he had lunch every day on the beach, in the restaurant that he wanted because of real estate, folks, because of real estate. But he had to leave here and go in this uncomfortable 4% folks. That's you. Everybody watching this wants to get away from this negative push and wants to get up here. What do you need in here? Well, you need to Take action. You need capabilities. I don't know if I spelled that right. You need direction. You need wisdom. You need all these things, and they're the things we talk about on these blogs, in my books, in my real Estate Success Academy, at our live events. You need to absorb this stuff. All I know is everything you're doing right now has got you to be in here. Everything you're doing has you living here, if that's where you are. So you got to make something different. You got to make a change. You got to do something different. Folks, you can't make excuses and make the kind of money you want to make. Stop making excuses. Don't look at obstacles as a way to stop. You look at them as something you got to get around. Look at it as more of a challenge. And get yourself in here. Because guess what happens in here. This is where you feel uncomfortable. This is where friends and family tell you you're nuts. This is where your co workers tell you you're an idiot. This is where people tell you that my infomercials are a scam, that these videos are a scam, that being a part of my real estate Success Academy, even though we have thousands of people going through that program, successful people, every single week of every year. But they'll tell you it's a scam because they're afraid they're stuck down here and they don't have the nerve to climb this ladder. Folks, you have the ladder right in front of you to go from here up the ladder to where you want to be. But you got to take action. Okay, I'm going to run a clip of Matt Larson. And I, I know this is another long blog, but a lot of you told me you like them long. So here you go. I'll see you guys next week.
I was that guy just a short time ago. I remember being scared, I remember being nervous. I remember being the guy that, okay, how do I talk to all these professionals, real estate agents and bankers and, you know, everybody that you come in contact with and they know you've never done a deal. I mean, my real estate agent used to drive to my 300 square foot apartment and pick me up to go look at houses. She knew, right? But I convinced her because I, you know, you just have to, you know, you told me once, it's a really good thing. Everybody's good at something, right? So if everybody's good at something, think about how you feel when you're doing that thing and then just transfer that feeling over to real estate. And you just, you fake it till you make it, but before long you're faking it and you're really making it. And then it gets to the point where I tell everybody it's like a hill. Most people, you start climbing the hill and the hill's real, it's not that steep. And it's real easy in the beginning, but then all of a sudden it gets a little harder. And most people, I think, drop off right before they hit the peak because that's the steepest point. When, if they just stick one more day or one more week or one more month, when whatever it is, they'd get over that hill and it gets easy. And I'm telling you, it gets easier. I mean, I spent the entire winter in Florida because it's warmer there than where I'm from. And I did deals the whole time from Florida and it was easier for me to do deals from Florida than it was when I was in Illinois because you have to disconnect yourself from the day to day.
And it's all about the money. Yeah, it's about the bottom line.
Yep. So, you know, it's funny, I just.
Used that similar analogy recently with a treadmill. Like if you get on the treadmill and you start running when you're like three minutes in, your legs are burning so bad. Especially because I don't exercise as much as I should, Right. And it's a time when you just. You want to give up so bad. It's unbelievable. But if you ever do this and you go five minutes on a treadmill, all of a sudden this weird thing happens. Your legs starting to get numb, you don't have that burn anymore, your breath starts to adjust, and all of a sudden you can go for a half hour, even if you're not in great shape. But the first three to four minutes is the time that everybody goes, I haven't worked out. This is burning. I'm off. And you get off, and you kind of limp around a little bit. But all I know is if you go for a half hour, I get off. And I'm like, yeah, I just conquered that. And I feel amazing. And I get, you know, you just get adrenaline pumping. It's the same way with what you're talking about. It's like when people are doing real estate, they hit a couple obstacles, or a couple people say no, or people talk about their dreams. That's the first three minutes. And they go, maybe I can't do it. Go back to the life they hate. If they could just go the five minutes. Just get over that first hump of real estate, all of a sudden, it starts to level off. And then where you're at right now, you're going downhill. You're running downhill right now? Yeah.
I mean, now I'm to the point where, okay, I still want to do deals without using any of my own money, right? So that's always my focus. So now it's just, how many deals can I do? Every time I try to constantly get refine, you know, refine and get more efficient. More efficient, more efficient.
