Weekly Wisdom #171 - Lurking Lies and Frustrating Fibs?

Dean Graziosi walks through how small lies you tell yourself block change. He uses his real-estate 25 to 1 system as an example: people blame the system when they execute poorly, then invent stories to avoid discomfort. His advice is to write down what you tell yourself for a week, get uncomfortable, and be honest about what's actually stopping you.

Hey, everybody. Welcome to this week's weekly wisdom. Hey. Last week was a great assignment, saying yes or no. Remember, there's only 24 hours in a day, and we say yes to one thing, we're automatically saying no to something else. So to tally which are the yeses and which are the nos, you can really find out where you maybe have to shift some of your priorities. If you're new to this site, congratulations. Welcome for being here. We love having you. This is the DG Family, as you guys have named it. Browse around, check out old blogs, check out all the wisdom, and check out the amazing people on this site helping other people. If we don't have your name and email address on file, make sure you give that to us. We'll send you some free education. Plus we'll make sure we remind you of these weekly wisdoms every single week. Okay, today I want to talk about something I thought about. The last couple days. I was in Los Angeles doing business. I was in Tulsa earlier in the week. I've been traveling all over the place. I was in Vegas. I met a lot of you in Vegas last week or week before, I don't even know now. It's kind of a blur home today, spending time with the kids and enjoying it. But I was thinking about honesty and being truthful. You know, let's just assume that everybody watching is completely honest and truthful with everybody else around them. Transparency is the key to fulfillment. You know, my grandmother always used to say, you don't have to remember the truth a lie. You have to remember what you said. Now, have we all told lies? Probably. Have we all embellished the truth and, you know, maybe manipulated things a little bit to help us in the past? Sure, I guess we all have done that. But I'm just gonna assume right now nobody watching is doing that anymore. But here's the big one. Are you being honest with yourself? That's the one I want you to think about this week. I want you to write down on a piece of paper, am I telling the truth to myself, or what is the truth? And take notes all week. And here's what I mean. If you're trying to lose weight, what are you telling yourself? Why that doesn't work? If you're trying to make your relationship better and it's not working, what story are you telling yourself? What truth are you saying over and over, but what's really going on? Meaning this. If you let's get to real estate. That's why you're at this site. And that's what I'm here to help you with, right? If you've tried the 25 to 1 system, that's if you know the system, great. If you don't, check out the old conference calls, find the one with me and Matt Larson and learn it. It's amazing. It works over and over. It works all over the country. If you've tried that and you said, hey, I tried the 25 to 1 system and truthfully it doesn't work, you could say that in your mind. But are you being truthful to yourself? Did you actually take the time to find the right real estate agent? Or did you call a couple, get frustrated and using your friend or cousin or somebody that somebody recommended and maybe they're not the right agent and that blows the whole 251 system. All the other pieces won't work if you don't start with the right real estate agent. Okay, when you called the agent and you got one, did you make sure you said, only send me? You know all that. You said, only send me properties that are vacant as is and had a price reduction, that you only want homes that are starter homes in your area. Did you physically get those? Did you look at them? Did you then look in the notes and look for next level of urgency to sell, motivated to sell? Did you find is an as is? Is it a handyman special? A diamond in the rough? Must sell because I moved. You're looking for those, narrowing them down, you're narrowing down hundreds and your agent does most of it. You narrow it down to 25 and you make your offer right? Now, the reason I went through that quick and next week, you know, I'll go really deep on the 25 to 1 system. Next week, that'll be what I'll do. Okay? The only reason I brought that up is cause so many people I'll meet will say to me, hey, I tried that 25 to 1 system. Do you have another system that works? And I'll go, wow, that one works every time. Tell me what you did. And someone will say, well, I used my friend, you're offer, Eddie. 25:1 system doesn't work. Somebody will say, I made a whole bunch of offers, hundreds in offers, and nobody accepted. I said, how'd you do it? Well, I just took the price and cut it in half and made lots of offers and nobody said no. In fact, I made people mad. Okay, that's not what I teach either. There's a system to it, right? But here's what we'll do. We'll make up an internal truth to make ourselves feel better. We'll say, hey, Dean's system just doesn't work. Or, I tried it. It doesn't work where I live. Or, hey, it's too much time. I don't have the time to do it. And we start telling ourselves these things that we think are truths. And all we're doing is lying to ourselves over and over to make ourselves feel better. So here's what I want you to do. I want you to find where you're fibbing yourself and become uncomfortable with yourself. Stop lying to you. We do it all the time. I know I do it. I truthfully will do it. I'll find myself in my life and I'll go, well, I'm not doing that because of this. And then when I really think through, I'll go, no, you're telling yourself a lie. You're doing it because maybe you don't want to feel uncomfortable. Maybe you don't want to stretch out. Maybe it's something where you might offend somebody else, right? But it's not the truth. It's what we've created to make ourselves feel better. And if you're okay with that, great. But you wouldn't be watching me right now if everything was perfect in your life. So this week, I want you to find out the little lies you're telling yourself that make you go, okay. That's why, no, that's not okay. If you truly want change, you have to be completely transparent with you. Find the little fibs, call yourself out on it, get uncomfortable, get to the true path and plan to a bigger future. And let's make this year work for you. I'm Dean Graziosi. Thanks for watching this week's blog. I'll talk to you soon.
